The TRACTOR thread

What's a good, cheap suspension seat? I think my cheapo tractor supply seat is what's hurting my back.
Cheaper the better, I don't put enough hours on it to matter.
Vevor has one that looks ok, but one review said it has like no foam in it

I ordered all of the fluids and filters needed to change oil and hydraulic oil from my local dealer for 2 tractors. When I went to pick them up, they were 12 gallons shy on hydro fluid and I ended up going back 2 days later. I wasn't impressed and swore off that dealer, since them they have bought almost all of the dealers in Maine.

Greenfarmparts dot com does free shipping several times a year and also does deals on fluids, so that’s where I get stuff from now. It takes about a week to arrive here. YMMV as far as shipping.

I’d Try a base first- it’s Amazon, so free return in 30 days if you don’t like it;

Quit. Posting. Cool. Shit.:lmao::flipoff2:
I just found out it existed 5 minutes ago when I googled vevor suspension seat.

My tractor has one, I presume from the factory, and sometimes it’ll surprise you when the jolt you’re expecting never comes.

If I didn’t hate my local Deere dealer with a passion that would probably have tilted the scales toot; shipping made the OEM fluid even more pricey.

I'm not allowed to set foot on the local dealers property so i have to deal with a different dealership about an hour away. They bring parts to locations near me.

I’m ~2 hrs from the nearest one that’s not in the same franchise. Fuggers own ever deere franchise in the state or at least half of it.

Quality. James river is the nearest one who’s not them

I thought they had bought Quality but it may have been another dealership. James River who i deal with. If you have a James River construction dealer close by they can get most all AG parts as well.

Ready to stab in 3930
Pretty quick turnaround from area diesel service
Do you mind sharing rebuild cost and turn around time? The pump in my JD 1020 looks like it's due for a rebuild and Area Diesel Service seems to have good reviews.

Cost about $1100 including shipping my parts up there.

IIRC it was 2.5-3 weeks including shipping both ways
They communicate pretty well Via email if you reach out.

The vevor stuff is pretty decent

Just looked back,

pump was $999.10 out door shipped

Injectors (3) were $77.25

Cost me a chunk to ship up there via ups, dont remember exact cost.

They give description with invoice.

"SO - 124250 : DPA3239F262X (3930 New Holland) Tore down the pump and found fuel contamination which was affecting the parts. Cleaned the pump and then inspected and replaced all of the worn parts. Ran the pump on the test stand and set it to factory specs. Capped, timed, painted, and paint sealed the pump. Thank you for your business."

"SO - 124248 : 3930 New Holland injectors. Test, advise. rebuild as needed. Tested as received. All working just need reset to correct spec. Disassembled and washed all parts. Buffed caps and holders. Rebuilt with new seals, used the same tips. Set to 238 bar. Sealed, tagged and bagged for shipping. Thank you for your business"

They got my stuff on 8/28, they sent it back out 9/12 so they had it right at 2 weeks & 1 day. There was a delay because a few parts had to be ordered for my pump.

Thanks for looking it up. I shot them an email for a quote on rebuilding the pump and for new injectors. I don't think you can rebuild the pencil style injectors mine uses.

That turn around seems super reasonable. The local diesel shop with mixed reviews takes 4-6 weeks.

Got a bunch of extra parts with a tractor I bought recently. Hydrostatic rear with aux hydraulics, 4 bolt front axle, tires, and steering assembly. Parts came from a Bolens qt16, pretty heavy duty for its size. Got to thinking I should just build a tractor with it all. My neighbor traded me some angle iron for the frame, etc. Picked up a big Wisconsin 1cyl 631cc for the motor.

My two sons (7 and 9) are helping me build it as a learning experience. Going to make it look like a regular garden tractor of some sorts. Maybe a dedicated snow blower tractor.

I think they make about 800psi for the aux hydraulic stuff off the charge pump.

It came with a hydraulic ram and all the pieces. 800psi should be plenty for what I need.

Turns out the motor needed to be rotated 180 degrees to spin the rear axle the correct direction. Spun it around and the output shaft is the same size as the inside of the driveshaft making it a direct fit. Doesn’t look as cool as the first pictures though.

Leaves the normal output shaft available for a larger hydraulic system if needed

Thinking one of those electric clutches from a lawn mower that engages a pulley to power a snow blower.
If you could find a mechanical clutch or fab a double belt tensioner it would be more forgiving. It seems to me that snowblower loads eat electrical clutches faster than mowing.

Gotta allow for some belt slippage on engagement and not have the belts banjo string tight

I’m the proud owner of a ~1994 bobcat skiddy.
She smokes a little at more than half throttle (black smoke=injector or pump yeah?) but otherwise is quiet. Hydraulic works well, minor leaks in 2 spots I’ve found. Good tires, one bad wheel and studs because ran loose.
Now I’ve got a lot to learn. Starting with servicing it.

Took $40 at the car wash to get the worst of the manure and old fluid off of it.

I finally accepted that it was time to retire the original bush hog after it keeps spitting out gearbox mounting bolts, is peeling open like a tuna can, and is so bent up it’s binding pto shaft travel at the top of the lift arc

the king cutter is holding up much better, the I beam framework holds shape much better although it is bulging somewhat:

But this was 2 ac of dense brush you couldn’t walk through a few days ago, so the juice is worth the squeeze:
