What's new

Spinoff: Newest vehicle you own and approx annual commuting mileage

Sounds like you really trusted it.:flipoff2:
Drove it round trip to the beach and to Philadelphia last year. I love that little truck, but I don't fit in it. I took it to cars and coffee saturday then to the shop to act as the scrap bin for this week.

In 2005 someone gave me 85 Accord that needed work. I fixed it and drove it for a year. That’s the closet I have. However my old roommate commuted in a 71 Torino then a 90s 911 for years.
That is my kind of guy. He has style:flipoff2:

Newest vehicle is a 2006 Dodge diesel pickup.

My commuter is a 1993 Jeep Cherocar shitbox with 198,000 miles. It sees around 5000 miles a year.

Newest is a 2012 4runner with 144k miles. Generally drive it 10-12k per year these days, used to be more like 15-18k. Bought it in 2018 with 45k miles on it.

Me: 2016 Grand Cherokee 140k miles/hit 7 deer. Daily Commute is 90 miles.
Wife: 2023 Raptor 18k miles/0 deer (please God let this trend continue). Daily Commute is 60 miles

Does difficulty of road/commute count? :flipoff2:

My previous commuter for almost 10 years. Only time she ever got stuck

i drove high mileage junk for years, i had an 96 accord that i got for 400 bucks at a tow sale. drove it to 220k, sold it when i got a 98 crv with 130k, drove it to 240k. then in and out of cop cars, the crown vic was picked up with 70k, sold at 220k, then a 15 tahoe picked up at 98k traded in at 150k on a yukon for the wife. thats when i started driving her 03 escalade, 200k to 258k. i have been buying new since then. i used to pretty much work 7 days a week, now i just work five. 92 miles round trip everyday for many years. i have 16k on my 22 f350 that goes nowhere with the trailer. and my f150 was bought in december has 17k on it.

The wife's car is always going to be basically new. She's in a '21, about 12k a year

I currently drive a '15 at about 7k a year.. pretty much just back and forth to work. Everything else we take the wife's car.

My 15 has 83k on it, hers has 38k..(I think)

But if shit gets wonky I'll be back to driving my 95 f250 with 250k on it.

1992 f250 480k miles 20k a year for work.
Girlfriend has a 02 explorer 240k miles for longer trips.
1982 Mercedes 240d 280k miles for all the other driving. 5k a year
Just got a 24 Maverick recently for work. Still use the 250 twice a week for trailerinf

My wifes car is new. I've got a WRX and a Kia with 150k and a dually with 200k. Id drive the dually daily if it got better than 8mpg.

16 cclb 3500, 15k/year, currently it's at 317k
18 cclb 3500, 25k/year, 200k

Just depends on which truck I need for which truck stuff :flipoff2:

I'm really hoping that there's someone in here who can crack the 1980s. I'm aware it'll probably be some old guy with a 80s Buick, a Walmart greeter job 5mi from home and a wife with a new car he can't use because she hasn't retired yet and can't WFH but that's better than nothing.
I did commute for a while in my 75 Cherokee. It only gets about 7 MPG so that shit got old real quick. I don't mind paying for fuel, but having to fill up 3 times a week sucked.

And I can get the "fuck the gubmint" ticket because it has permanent collector plates on it.

'22 F350 has 10k on it now bought December of '22 so 500 a month :homer:

edit: not my daily but is my vehicle. Daily is company truck.

2024 Camry, just cracked 2k miles. Average around 10k miles per year. Lucky to have an 8 mile drive to work.

2002 2500HD Silverado with 150k miles.
Per the rules I have to add it, but I don't commute with it cause 8.1

2002 1500 Silverado 5.3 with 406k miles.
That's my real daily. 20 miles per day current commute.
I put 150k give or take on it in 8 years.

The newest one we own is a 2024 BMW M340i xdrive (wife's car), that we've owned for about month now. Thus far, it has about 550 miles on it.
We're retired, and don't commute or drive around much. I figure we put about 3,000 miles a year on either of our vehicles...

People in certain states are a lot more likely to have older commuters. When I lived in California, stuff didn’t rust and newer cars were really expensive to register because they essentially charged you tax on them every year. I drove an 80s Toyota truck and had other older stuff.

In PA, you pay about $50 a year to register anything and the old stuff is rapidly combining with oxygen. So it makes sense to have newer stuff.

Newest truck is a 22 F-350 I picked up last September with 55k on it and its been my daily driver since and It's currently at 79k. Work commute is 40 miles round trip but the truck gets parked most of the week when I'm in my service truck.

Wife drives a 2016 JKUR. Picked it up in 2017 with 18k miles and it's currently at 130k. She drives it 55 miles round trip to work 3 or 4 times a week and it was also our travel car until I got the F350.

I also have a 1997 F250 that I've owned for at least 10yrs. Picked it up with 124k on the odometer and it's now at 180k. It was my daily driver for many years but it mostly sits around now because I have other vehicles to drive that are much more comfortable. Though about selling it a few times but can't bring myself to do it.

We've had as new as a 2016 x5, and 2014 F-350 diesel, sold those off, recently sold off the 2014 535d as well

Moving Back to older shit, as its more affordable. Currently have an 05 gas f-350, and a 99 lx470 for the wife. Both with about 160k. She doesn't work so her mileage is just carting kids around town. I only commute for a few months out of the year, and I'm not doing that it my Ford. My in-laws let me use their 97? Avalon for that.

Newest would be an '06 F150 with 180k that I don't commute in. I've put 40k on it since I bought it in 2017

Commuter is a 2001 Outback with 310k on it. Running about 8-10k a year now. Was 16k a year before I switched jobs.

Does it count if I have recently commuted in our 93 Cherokee Gambler 500 car? I drive it occasionally to keep it ready and to scare the mice out of it?

Newest is a 2013 Ram but it isn't the commuter. That is my 2000 WJ. Commute is 40 miles back and forth.

Wife 2006 ford escape. She probably does 10k a year, it's also our typical weekend runabout. It was as new I could get her into 5 years ago when her 1997 4runner got totalled

Me?

2004 2500 Ram that I use for everything. 400,000 miles
2010 Charger that I drive to work most days. 300,000 miles

Just bought the better half a 2019 Highlander with 30,000 as a daily driver/trip car.

Each of us drives about 20 miles a day, each way.
