Spin off: fastest you have ever been in a car on public roadways.

My daily

127 in my shitbox 1989 Buick Riviera...in Mexico. Hit the speed limiter and thought I blew the motor. Drove that car for 4 more years. No idea in my 2016 Powerstroke...it was still pulling well after I pegged the speedo...in Mexico

Edit...Apparently I replied to this thread earlier...completely forgot about my Uncles WS6 he took me for a ride in many moons ago when I was a teenager.

In a country far far away

300 km/hr plus as pax/navigator. Public road, late at night, ran a full tank of gas out. One of the few 333i’s made for sale to homologate the race cars

608 kilometers in a shade under 4 hrs. Not on todays modern highways either.

Stopped (and let off with a warning) at 188 km/h in a 120

Penalties and points too draconian in the US to consider speeding. Weld County sheriff was nice enough to give me a warning once for low triple digits. We had some friends in common
In freedom units, whats that? :homer:

:flipoff2:

Most amusing was getting pulled over on I-5 by CHP while doing 120 in a tweaked '73 Buick Electra 225 with a modified 455. They were nice cuz I only got a ticket for excess speed (that and the officer probably thought radar was off cuz the Electra had a serious beater body...)

Fastest was 135 in a '93 Supra on I-70, couldn't go faster cuz the car following me couldn't (Celica). was playing ferry the cars from CA to CO with current wife...

160 in a few different cars.

Bmw M6
Porsche turbo
Lamborghini Gallardo

I was younger and much less risk adverse than I am now.

My current car is rated to do 194 but I haven't gotten it over 120 or so. I just don't feel the urge to push it much anymore.

Edit-- here is the old M6

Only showing 150 but it was hard to take pics while driving

I was a passenger in a car when the driver got a ticket for 122 mph .

My brothers crown Vic marauder tops out at 141

Always liked big brick shaped trucks and SUVs more than cars and I have a hard enough time not speeding in something built like a brick on 35s that tops out 85 stock. Intentionally never had faster shit because I know I'll just get myself in more trouble than it's worth.

That is why I will not buy a motorcycle, learned long ago that two wheels + me = excess speed.

Ditto. This 2015 focus st is the first vehicle I haven't tried to max out and I really don't want to do it. OK, we'll I haven't tried to max out the 95 f250, but that's because I don't want to explode the driveshaft. I'm good hitting whatever I can hit on the on ramps and the occasional passing in anger and then call it good these days.

I don't think I've done even 75 in anything I currently own. 🤣

65 in my shitbox Jeeps.... But I did blow past 120mph on a Honda Gold Wing. When I am on a bike... It is WOT! I might get back on a bike when I am close to end of life. :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Not a car, but 172 indicated on a 99 CBR600F4.

I couldn't get my buddies over 158, on a test drive. Bang the limiter in 4th, shift to 5th and it just stayed. He claimed with a downhill to get it back over 10k rpm in 5th it would pull to 182 but I couldn't get it there.

There's a reason I stick to trucks and dirt. 158 wasn't fast enough. I'd have been dead in a week if I'd have bought it. I still catch myself going over 100 on gravel on the husky without thinking I'm even moving quick. :homer:

I've been 150+ in a few cars. Never thought it was that crazy. I set the cruise at 130 in my Buick one day, covered ground in a hurry. Had to try just because I couldn't believe they didn't have an upper limit :smokin::laughing:

Down a fucking hill:laughing::flipoff2:

My daily. Slow 4 door AWD. I can shave .3 off the 0-60 in hero DA per Dragy so should be able to get near 12 flat in the quarter. All done on sanctioned tracks or in Mexico.

my 4x4 excab pick up weighs a bit more, and i was going up hill at the 130 point.

My usuall drive is too crowded and I don't really have the desire to pay for a speeding ticket. I've also decided that I get where I'm going much happier if I let everyone else pass me. I have more fun barking the tires around a corner than top speed anyway.

That being said I did 110 on an onramp as a passenger in a Lightning and I drove a Continental GT to about 110 on an onramp and had time to slow down to 70 before getting on the freeway. No speed limit on onramps right? They are called "acceleration ramps" for a reason.

I did 70ish once on a Civic on a hardpack dirt road, would have gone faster if I didn't have passengers.

My fastest as driver though, is 314 mph ground speed in a DA42 during a slight descent through restricted airspace.

Please excuse my :homer: but is this an app or from the car itself?
App. Its called Dragy. It uses a GPS module thats in the car to connect to satellites and monitor all the parameters through the app. Pretty widely used in the street motorsports world now as it allows anyone to go knock out a 1/4 mile street time without having to find a track.

Ecoboost I assume?
