After towing with a 6.0 gasser for 4 years because I just had to own a quadrasteer truck I wanted a diesel again. But then I found the dually and just had to have that. Found out while the LBZ is decent it's no cummins. But selling that truck proved somewhat annoying in snow country so I traded it for a lifted GMC. I really liked everything about that truck but the Duramax. So after 2 years of searching I found the cummins in the color and mods I wanted. Now just need to get some normal sized tires/wheels and use it.

MattS pimp-daddy? :flipoff2:

How well does that set up handle the 7% grade/12+ mile climb from the NV/CA border (on I15)?

Its a Workhorse chassis (8.1l / Allison) so it pulls pretty good. I haven't been below 50 going up that grade, and the one on I-40 eastbound into Kingman Arizona drops it down to 45 or so if it catches me by surprise. I plan on not being in a hurry when I take a road trip in the RV. 7-8 hours a day max, and that's only if its a one-day drive. I can't wait to get it registered in Mohave County were there is no smog checks so I can get the engine/trans a good tune.

I used to have this one with a Ford V10 and it pulled hills very poorly for a 31' RV, but that might be partially because it is shaped like a bread box.

Spill the beans. What's in it?

Derp. I guess that part would be helpful huh?

Cummins 12 valve with some extras to get some reliable power and a timing advance to get decent gas mileage, Allison 2200, new dana 80 with disc brakes. I drove it down the coast from the middle of California to San Diego and averaged 13mpg.

Biggest issue with it now is that if I ever get rid of it, I don't know what I'd replace it with.

After years of maintaining a '02 7.3 Excursion I switched to the '18 F350 DRW and have not looked back.
Looking now to trade to a '20/'21 but really want to hold out for the '23 update.

Yes and no. Reliability?

completely missed this.

my wife's wagon has been running the hilton tune for over two years now.
she beats it.
It's still fine.
if you have the aw55 I would leave the torque management in it to save the transmission. I did.
see part about wife beating it.

uses the factory DICE adapter for programming.
https://hiltontuning.com/

which you should also get, if you need help with that Pm me.

I vaguely remember a build thread or update from the other place.

Care to start a build here? I have my eye on an old Georgie Boy... have dreams of making my own Eagle 5 and pulling the toys. This seems like a good reference.

This is my tow rig that I built in 2009 we have put close to 100,000 miles on it since then and hope to put another hundred on it. Currently we are looking for the right enclosed trailer to match it
Theres nothing like having 550 hp with close to 2000 pounds of torque when it come to life
Some of you may remember this build it was on the old Pirate forums under Hannibal rocks Totor home build

You should reboot that thread in this forum. Looks like a neat rig.

I would be glad to and would enjoy looking it all over again and have some updates, but I don’t know how to do that maybe one of you guys that a little more technical experience on the forums could help me out.

First they freaked out because they said I was a commercial vehicle and then they figured out what RV stood for and then the fact that I was 67 feet long they said I couldn’t make the switch backs long story short they wound up escorting me part of the way
I think the biggest reason personally was the fact that the The redheaded female ranger with really short hair was showing off for the long-haired young female intern and we will let it go at that.......
she quickly found out that I was not gonna be Buffalo by her
there were zero signs that said anything about length or weight or trailer combinations of an RV I called the day before and some lady at the Rocky Mountain national Park told me as long as my RV would run at 10,000 feet properly I was “okey-dokey” not many people use that term anymore LOL
Needless to say it was an interesting adventure
