Shopping for a .45 1911

Im not a big fan of the 3in, 3.5 or 4.25in 1911s in 45 but the standard 5in and 6in long slide can be a blast to shoot. Im a little biased towards Para after working there but in reality most of the companies are the same. Small variations in feel or parts.

I would suggest seeing how the action feels at the store for the price ranges your looking at.

They cant even build a decent bolt gun

horrible way of thinking.

I will never understand ambidextrous safety's as nobody cares about left handed people. night sights are kinda pointless IMO, flared magwell looks cool though,:grinpimp:

Agreed. They dont feel as good as a 1911, but damn close:smokin:
My R1 worked better than me for USPSA, and it was probably because it was the cheapest GI model they made. I added a super gay magwell on the bottom because it was allowed.

My Remington 700 killed an antelope as good as any fancy metric caliber would.

You enjoy your Wilson combat safe Queen. I’ll spend the difference on ammo and mags so I can play with my toys instead of worrying about it getting scratched because I dropped it on a pillow. :flipoff2:

Wilson? I aint that rich:laughing:

Wtf does a reminton bolt gun have to do with metric caliber. That dont make sense:flipoff2:

I have a Para 14/45 that has been flawless for 20 years. Tens of thousands round through it and never a single issue.
I’ve got a stainless 12-45 and a 13-45 that are my favorites.

I bought a RIA some years ago, just a bare bone clone. The only issue I have with it is that the LRBHO only functions about 80% of the time. I'm happy with it and, maybe, someday I might even clean it. It's been a clawhammer...

Frankentoy, my ria 10mm would do the same thing. I replaced the slide lock with a Wilson combat and it fixed the problem.
I have had multiple 1911s over the years and they all just end up sitting unloved in the corner of the safe not getting shot.
Still tempted to build my own from a sarco parts kit. Anyone have a reliable source for lowers?

I had the 1911 itch, bought a RIA basic 1911. Sold it a few years later. FIL has his fathers high polish blue finish 1911 from WW!!, now thats one worth having. Ironically my go to non tupperware gun is a 92FS Inox. Just a "fancy" M9

That was my next course of action, when it annoyed me to the point of actually doing something. It's a great little gun otherwise that I'm not that concerned about (Throw in the console, drop it in the pasture, put it away dirty, repeat...meh, it's not a Colt). The only reason I don't use it as much anymore is that .22LR and 9mm are cheaper.

So a 9mm 1911 with a 22lr slide would make more sense?:stirthepot:
I had an Iver Johnson 9mm 1911 that didn't suck. Didn't feed JHP worth a shit but would eat FMJ like a champ.

Took it in trade to get out from a poor buying decision (mossberg shockwave) and wasn't upset. Sold it off later to someone who had to have it

Bought BIL a Kimber Light Weight with custom rosewood grips when he made Sergeant. He likes it so much he qualified with it to use as duty pistol. It was $700-ish, but I got it before the 'rona price hikes and inflation, not sure what they cost now.

My SR1911 was used and WAY less than $1K, so I'll say it again, SR1911.

Folks like to hate on kimbers, but I haven't had any issues with them. I do think they are a bit overpriced these days though.

Have not heard anything bad about those rugers either.

I think in that price range from a known brand, you are getting a decent pistol regardless. Pick your sights, checkering, and finish..

I have a sr1911, a garrison, tisas raider or jsoc are on my list. A little more at the $1k level are the springer operator

Are these springfields any better than the budget models? 10% off deal makes this just over 600 right now:

No, the reddit gun deals page has a lot of deals from that site without much negative talk.

Also, stainless 'mil-spec', a bit under 600 with that same 10% off:

WTH. You can’t even buy a Fudd gun in California? I guess detachable magazines are baby murderers.
