Well damn. Looks expensive or a reason to upgrade.
there is a ls3 at the machine shop in manhattan(billy grahams place) that is "un-paid" and is for sale. I just dont think I can justify 4500 bucks for a long block. Plus is my blower ruined too......then I need an intake and everything else to put it back together. I do have another lq4 pullout sitting here. had low oil pressure. probably center cam bearing like so many of them. I can put it back together a lot cheaper and scab my blower back together. this kind of sucks.Well damn. Looks expensive or a reason to upgrade.
no data log. can tell you I was deep in 3rd at 7k and the rev limiter was popping. its very likely my fault, that doesnt help matters. Im not sure on what the pistons were. the machine shop sourced them.Damn,
Where the slugs Hypereutectic? Any Logs?
Put it back together with a seasoned block.
I know.You need a BBC with a couple turbos!
Or just grab a junkyard 4.8 & see how long it last as-is beating on it like it owe you everything. You need a BBC with a couple turbos!
thanks TT. I have another lq4 here, fresh from cam failure. I think I'll toss it together as cheap as possible. hopefully my blower is salvageable. put the same cam in it and wont need another dyno run to tune it.Or just grab a junkyard 4.8 & see how long it last as-is beating on it like it owe you everything.
Knowing my own luck, resist and half-ass on a build but it turn out last WAY longer than it will if I did the build “correctly”
xr-nut sorry to hear about the engine failure! I hope that won’t keep you from the track too long.
open the ring gap for the added boost, throw fresh bearings at it, and let it eat.thanks TT. I have another lq4 here, fresh from cam failure. I think I'll toss it together as cheap as possible. hopefully my blower is salvageable. put the same cam in it and wont need another dyno run to tune it.
yep thats the plan.open the ring gap for the added boost, throw fresh bearings at it, and let it eat.
Bore x .006 would be a safe number?yep thats the plan.
so lets start the ring gap debate what should I put it at for 6-7# of boost.......?
I did not make into the sandhills race this year. I will likely volunteer so I can have a spot next year. When is your next event? The Silver State Classic is the middle of May.
Heading out Wednesday morning at 0500. Hope to make Arnold by ten. Straight of the trailer to tech then registration. Them we have to drive the loup to loup course twice before 6pm. Then it's raceday on Thursday!
If you've been following along on the drive shaft saga, put the stock shaft back in and we're going to run the 80 class on l2l and 90 on sorc. It's slower than id like but not by much and this drive shaft will be fine. I told my son we need to focus on doing as good as possible on timing. Maybe we'll place!
Pre run today in Mexico.
It's been 150 multiple times. I feel like I'm on borrowed time, hence the 2 piece plan.I'd be curious to see what you can get outta the stock shaft before it lets go
Have fun and good luck! After the bad crash and death in '21 the race requires all loup 2 loup racers to prerun the road twice. Probably not a bad idea.
