Shop Truck turned Race Truck SORC Tech in Shit-shat

Sitting the rain on the north end. 2 second too fast. My son's driving the South bound once out stops raining. Hear there a car off the road on it's lid. Drivers are ok.

Lunch after the loup 2 loup race was really good, again.

That's parts of the appeal up here with the small towns. They take care of you. You won't go hungry. :lmao::lmao:It's all free will donation.

I’m not a Chevy guy, but I think a 3rd gen Camaro like that red one would be fun to build for an event like this. Could be done fairly cheap, depending what know fast you want to go.

The rear suspension is almost perfect for that (I'd ditch the trac bar and go watts link) but the front suspension using a strut as the upper arm pretty much sucks. But then again you are a Ford guy so you are used to shitty front suspension designs. :flipoff2:

I'd find it hard not to build a 1000hp turbo LS for a race like that because it's so easy and fairly inexpensive to do these days.

Yeah, MacPherson strut front ends leave a lot to be desired. I agree the watts link is better, but I said cheap, same with the twin turbos. :flipoff2:

It wouldn’t take much to be in the 90 or 110 class. I’m pretty sure the tech speed is 120 for those classes. An LS with bolt ons would get it done.

That car crashed out on the South leg of the l2l on the last corner:eek:

Heck we ran in (eventually) the 100 and 110 class in a 1967 912 with all of 105 hp.

I think my wife may have run the Mini in 120 one of the years and that is barely over 200 at the wheels.

Cage over 89 mph, tech speed might have been 140, girls got a warning their first year

Good luck for tomorrow

the north leg. we had a timer issue and didnt get it started on time. so we guessed how far we were off on the return leg. we missed it by 4.5 seconds. sucks. nailed the south leg for time and if we had gotten the timer on I think we would have nailed the north leg and been in the top five. As it sits we were 15th out of 29. right in the shitty middle

Most surprising vehicle as I scan the background is #46. Is that an Audi CUV?
sure is. old guy drove in from cali. on one hand I could make an argument that car shouldnt be allowed. but as soon as I did someone would come along and argue my truck shouldnt be allowed either :lmao:

race what you got. :smokin:

What do you use for a timer?

this year I used my cell phone clock timer. My son had his glove on and it wouldnt start. On the return leg I took my glove off at the line. no issues. Im going to order a stopwatch for next time that has a countdown timer.

we ran my old gmpsmap 378 on the passenger side of the dash. in the 4 screens we had "moving time", "moving average speed" . "speed" and "moving distance".

Allowed us to watch for our 90mph average and adjust accordingly. plus kept track of mileage points for the turns that needed a reminder of severity . In the 90 class once you bank a few seconds above 90 you can drive fairly relaxed to maintain that average. there are 12 miles of straight in the sorc race to get your average up. its almost harder to get your average down if you're too fast as they prohibit you from running 20mph under your target. 70mph is ok, 69 is dq.

you watch our videos and you'll see us scrubbing speed a lot. Sure we could have gone up a speed class. but I was concerned about my motor and just finishing. maybe next year we'll run 95. if we get in.

North leg of the loup 2 loup race. we were off by a second or two so we guessed -2 for the return trip. we shouldve guessed 4 seconds as we came in +2.163 average. still good for 6th out of 22. we'll do better next time(thats what she said) time on both legs should have been 8:42. you can hear in the audio the two times we were clocked for speed. our tech speed was 110mph, we didnt go over it, no need.

If you watch the videos you can see a distinct driving difference between the two of us.

I'm cautious over hills/crests and take it easy on the loud pedal. He is the opposite. Drive it in hard, hope it sticks and floor it coming out. :lmao:

Its a blast to get to hang with him though. I enjoyed every second of it. ......well except when the damn belt came off again.
