Rear axle spindle tech

The 382A and 387A bearings have a 2.25in ID which most axles use as and Inner.
The 104911 and 104949 have a 2in ID

A set38 Inner and outer will lead to a larger spindle.

Yep had my parts numbers backwards.
The newer 14 bolts have the 2.25in 387A and 382A inner and outer for a larger spindle

Which size aam diff? Years? Wheel bolt pattern?

I'm not finding any data other that 2" ID outer bearings.

Was in the booty fab lab and grabbed a few pictures. This is a standard Crane 14b replacement spindle. OD is 3.0, ID is 1.580 straight through. I don't have a OEM spindle here to compare it too.

Solid Axle 40 spline spindle. This was after having it turned down to 2.75" with a bevel to fit in the 3.50"x.375" wall tube. I'd have to check to see what bearings it uses, but it does use a larger spindle nut than a D60.

gt1guy curious what the ID is on the 40 spline spindle, think you could grab it?

Sorry it took this long. And I kind of had to half ass it since the wheels are on and it's just sitting on the bumps right now.

But here's what I got for ya.

6061 round bar measures 1.752"

Slides right in and can wiggle probably a few thousands.

Here's the bearings they use.

Mint, that'll do. Gives perspective to how much difference there actually is to fit 40 spline stuff through a spindle.

It was certainly eye opening holding that aluminum in my hand and seeing just how big those axles are.
If I'm not mistaken, a 40spline axle is 1.71"ish?
