What's new

Random stuff you made.

I make these from sandbar willow. It's a deer effigy used to bring good luck during a hunt. They have been found in caves dating back 10s of thousands of years old. You asked for random.

Yeah. Did you cut them from plate or bend them from square stovk?
Overall shapes were Warterjet from 3/4" stock for the "rough" cut

Used drill press and tapped by hand because I'm too lazy to fixture in the mill. Turned the standoffs in the lathe to keep them fairly consistent. Used a cheap burnishing tool to get the surface finish decent.

first pic doesn't really capture the surface finish of the parts

Nice! Thanks for the rest of the story.

I've never looked up heavy brass stock. I was gonna say something sarcastic about $3500 doorknobs...

12x12x.75 = $750 each HERE. Pricey, but I could see a business going for it.

I never even thought it was that much. I should have taken the drop! I put in a request for a quote from my supplier to see what the material cost is here.

The customer brought me the pieces already cut and I just did the finish work

Does modifying shit count? :flipoff2:

Bought this trash can hitch carrier thing for the sxs. Didn't lift the cans high enough and they would drag still. Plus it put all the weight on a small area and some reviews said it would punch through eventually. It wasn't very stable either and the can would flop side to side.

Welded on a chunk of scrap tube to solve all 3 issues

That before picture doesn't invite the warm and fuzzies especially if you've got a heavy can. Nice modification :smokin:

Sweet fix! I'm still simple. Raise the bed run ropes through and lower the bed.
