What's new

Random stuff you made.

Really like the desert ironwood my friend brought me back from Arizona. It's heavy, and dense, but works nicely, not as brittle as ebony. Not as expensive as cocobolo.
It's way to thin to be any sort of sword. Made just for slicing wouldn't make much of a chopper. Too long, but It will make a good show piece for him.

Had some wasp nests get up in the eave. Needed a way to spray DE powder vertical to try and kill em that way. Behold the glory. Worked ok, could be improved for rev2. dust-off straw into a water bottle of DE powder, with scrap wood and tape to hold it all together.

Powder wasn't that effective this time, so I made some wasp soup instead. Old food processor bowl, soap, juice, angle brackets and foil tape did the trick. And a champagne Cork for the center

I made a ‘custom’ ATV carrier from scrap metal I had sitting on the side of the house, an $57 piece of 2x2x0.25 box tubing, and a simple die from FordFascist. I spent WAAAAAAAY too much time on this for what it is. Seriously. This took me about 3 days to make it come out as well as it did.

It bounces so bad I had a highway patrol pull up along side me to tell me it was bouncing bad. I had a harbor freight trailer bounce eliminator thing on there and it does nothing. I should probably add a few tack welds then grind them flat to eliminate the bounce.

For a guy who has a running problem of rushing projects and creating more work because of mistakes this actualy came out amazingly great and I’m kind of proud of it. I drilled holes for tie downs AFTER the quad was loaded because I didn’t think that far ahead when building it.

That's a cool carrier!

I'd run a few supports back to the bumper and attach them to the bumper with rivnuts. That would allow you to support it and keep it removable. (Edit, unless that is holding your waste line, which is common, then any protrusions on the inside would be a bad idea.)

Also, some of those Trailer "Bumpers" are not actually connected to the trailer frame very well or at all, make sure your bounce is in the hitch and not the bumper itself.

I had a harbor freight trailer bounce eliminator thing on there and it does nothing.

This bugs me a bit. Are you SURE your hitch is mounted securely? The u-bolt anti-rattle thing I put on my spare tire carrier doesn't let it move AT ALL. i have it like 1/2" off the glass and it just chills there.

Can't remember if I've posted this before?

One man header holder. Purlins, etc. For building shit by yourself, can lift into position and hold in place while you burn it in. Bolt on, easy to remove. Only downside is 'hobby tractor', so about 10-11ft of height is all it will do. Threw them together a while back out of scrap pile findings.

I’m sure. The box tubing extended through the bumper hitch on the trailer a little bit. I tightened down the anti-rattle as much as necessary before breaking anything. It isn’t the bumper hitch flexing. It’s the carrier I made rattling around. I could have made my own welded on flat spot fix but I was short on time and expected the anti-rattle contraption to work.

MigGunslinger my waste line is inside the bumper. Bumper is maybe 1/8” thick. More bracing was suggested to me and I could add some 3/16” flat metal stock at any time. Pressed for time, didn’t think it was necessary, and expected the dimples to add strength where more material would be necessary.

The bumper is actually welded to the frame. Some poopy welded ‘your shitty welds’ type stuff, and some okay stuff. I’m sure it’s an accident waiting to happen, and I’ll have a bigger problem when the bumper folds and my quad is dragging down the road.
