The wife is from Castellammare Del Golfo, Sicily and I could only go swimming in the morning or evening as I would be cooked like a lobster.
We started going to Sicily in 2003 for a month at a time as anything shorter is not a vacation.
On my way back to her dad's house from swimming I would stop at this one gelato shop and get some morning gelato.
One day the owner asks thru a translator if I would like to learn to make gelato, the answer was yes.
When I got back to the USA I bought the same exact machine he used from amazon and have been making gelato since.
I never buy or eat any store brought ice cream or frozen novelties.
Usually only 4 ingredients, 5 if I feel like tempering eggs.
