And yet back in the old Pirate days, it seemed like everyone on the forums was shitting on ubolt eliminators, aka bolts, as not able to stay tight. Full circle maybe:homer:

When you take a used ubolt off, rarely is it in the perfect shape that it was in when it was new. Normally they look pretty mangled. I don't know that the threads are stretching, although I'm sure they are a little, but mostly the entire ubolt is conforming to the shape of what it's being clamped around. I've got the same ubolts on my truck that have been there for probably 10 years, and that's the theory I'm going with. And usually my ubolts are pretty close to spec when I check 'em:homer:

The funny thing is that I originally did them because I was being cheap, I could get bolts cheap or free vs having to buy u bolts :laughing:

It wasn't recently when I went back to u bolts and realized they kinda suck. Especially the universal ones that don't fit very tight to the tube.
 
I've always ran/raced using u bolts and I'm not sold on using grade 8 hardware keeping it together. Maybe during a pit, have someone hit them with a impact.

I bent my trusted FJ80 axle in the middle with ubolt eliminators. No possible way would 4 - 5/8" bolts not be enough. In fact the first few I did I used 1/2" grade 5 for a while without issues.

Now I'll admit that you could argue the fact that they put more stress on the leaf pad without a ubolt wrapping all the way around it, but that just means tou may need to get more creative with Fab work.
 
Looked like a fun, but crowded race course.

Crandon was amazing! We broke the transfer case input shaft in the rocks during the first practice. We pulled the transfer case and swapped in a spare input shaft I got from 4619. The truck did great for the other practices and qualifying. We finished the main night race with no issues. It was super cool and the amount of fans watching was unreal. With the points from this race we ended up 3rd in the Ultra4 East Series. Overall it was a great event with lots of great people.

Great pictures! I wish there was enough time to race everyone separate so there is adequate screen time/coverage but also understand why that’s not possible with so many other races going on.

We tried to get our own race. The TV timeline didn't allow for it.

Understandable on timeline issues. Considering the effort you racers put in, each class should get its own race and coverage during the “regional races”.

Very cool on the trophy!
