Race truck 4653

When you set up the knuckle shims with trunion eliminators, what preload do you shoot for?
I shoot for around 20 lbs. I had trouble obtaining the OEM preload numbers with the trunion bearing eliminators. 20 lbs seems to work for us so far.

For race prep, do you clean out and inspect the CV's internals?

I've had a few 30spl Longfields develop internal cracks and fail on me at the most unlikely moment.
Yes sir, they get completely disassemble, cleaned, inspected and reassembled.

Awesome, thanks.

Did you use a knuckle centering tool at all on this axle? Or just equal shims top and bottom?

It’s set it up with equal shims top and bottom. We started with a thin shim pack, assemble, check preload, dissemble, add shims and reassemble till we reach the desired preload. I will post the numbers once I get it back together.

Could you give us some feedback on the ADS shocks after you’ve driven/raced with them?

I’ve heard great things about ADS.

I got the fire suppression system installed. This system has two ports, one is in the passenger compartment the other is in the engine bay. The front axle is cleaned and ready for reassembly when I get a trunion pin. Next will be the rear axle tear down. :flipoff2:

Good luck to you dude! The pricey ass Jeep fags are going to give you shit for you body damage being an "advantage"... Be ready to be hit with that bullshit at tech/drivers meeting. Its been a few years for me, but I can't imagine shit has gotten better as far as fucksticks calling foul over body damage.

I got my new shocks recently. Started rebuilding the front axle. Discovered a broken trunion bearing eliminator pin on the right side.

What are the part numbers on the new shocks front and back, I would like to look up the specs as I am shopping for shocks right now. 14” front? What are the rears?

Looking forward to watching you at KOH.

Anyone know what finally put them out? I saw them red a couple times, then out on the road.

I will let Pitbullcruiser give the full update, but he was having comms issues with the truck radio and missed a turn and later broke a shock. He was kicking ass up until the missed turn.

Here's some aftermath:

KOH 2022 was awesome! We got the shocks and air bumps dialed in with a lot of help from ADS, Ruffstuff and my crew. We worked through some valve cover venting issues and were ready. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 go! We were off to a good start headed to Turkey Claw. 4693 got stuck in front of us, we tried to go around, got stuck and passed by everyone. We worked our way to pit 1 with no issues then off to Cougar Buttes. Worked our way through the rocks and headed through the desert back to pit 1 again. The truck had no issues going into pit1 the second time, we took fuel and headed out. My co-driver missed the right turn back to Hammer town and we started lap 2 by mistake. We made our way to Spooners got stuck, realized we DQed, got ran over by some 4500 cars then made our way out. Got the truck to the start of Outer Limits, linked up with a broken 4800 car and drove out to pit 2. Found our front right shock was broken, removed it and drove back to HammerTown with Elvis-n-texas.
The shock is being rebuilt by ADS, the truck is going to get a new rear axle housing, the shock mounts are going to be redone, we have some comms issues to work out and I am looking for a new co-driver. Overall great time with some great people. Big thanks to Hodgiemoto , Elvis-n-texas and @84 bronco.
