Pumpkin Spice Cummins Swapped Square Body

He's already said it's a toy and not towing heavy.

Which means, his main tow rig will break down and this will tow heavy....

Me, I did 4.33's Ford Axles with a 6 speed Allison and a rev happy Duramax in my IH.

Good point

with a cummins and manual, either ratio will be fine, for a back up tow rig imo. I pulled about 18k behind my 7.3, and it sucked balls, but wasn't really much better with 4.10s vs 3.54s, both just sucked.

That 0.61 or whatever 6th gear in the Allison is a game changer anyway.

You could have 4.56s with that trans and still be taller od than my zf5 and 3.73s

Thanks a lot for jinxing me!! :lmao:

in the mean time someone brought this in for a broken 4Lslippy. After giving her the quote($3800 tax and all for a reman from certified) she asked if I would buy it. So now I own a '05 2wd crapalanche. My plan is to use the leather interior in pumpkin spice. Its a really nice gray leather. It runs and drives(no first gear), so once the interior is scavenged it will be for sale.

Cab is off, ran the hotsie washer over it. I think I'll pass on the sand blast plan it cleaned up real nice. Pulled the diff cover and look at that! 4.10s in the gm diff! So that'll match up to the 60 front. :smokin:

I'll have to run different wheels but that'll be fine.

Had a few hours today to work on the truck. I had bent the front cross member moving the truck so first up was getting it back straight so when the engine cross member exits it'll stay square. I'm not sure what length the springs are going to be so I stopped before cutting the fush in from ord. Started in on the aganfab swap member.

Looking good so far! I used a kit from Agan Fab on my blazer and the bushings for the motor mounts were too long and had to be cut down to fit. Might check that. Also had to shim the engine up and shim the crossmember down to gain clearance between the oil pan the new crossmember. Might have been due to a K5 frame because I haven't heard of guys with bigger frames having trouble. Who knows though.

I think I cut 96 rivets off mine. A snap on rivet chisel only got through about 24 of them before it broke

Not hard to move the springs down.

My 14 year old son did it...

Gee, lift the springs off the axle... and the frame up.
No shit huh? I was being sarcastic in the "tell me more" reply. No reply necessary.

But since you did, and by that Im guessing here, you didnt get my surprise about the amount of lift.

Not that I cannot figure out how to do, i've literately done this exact job with the same companies parts before, its more that Im surprised how high "6"" of lift is going to be. the frame will be a foot+ higher that it is in the pic. plus 2'' of blocks.

Since your 14yr old can do it, send his ass down. I could use a hand.:flipoff2:

14 year old is now 22 and runs the fab shop of my business :)

And yes, did the same exact thing on my same exact chassis.

Thing is, I think you're doing yourself a disservice using leaves in the front, over a Ford set up. I can't believe I just said that, I hate Fords...

Well, he has a Dodge axle, so Dodge axle, Ford suspension, and Chevy chassis. Got it :flipoff2:

Very nice he's back working with you. My oldest came back last june. its be a fucking blast having him in the shop every day and local enough to go do shit. we shot more last year than any time before. lots of fun. he even comes out to help with the heavy stuff on this turd.

Supposedly in that box of stuff from ord, are offset spacers to use the dodge diff on a gm leaf setup. then theres the cluster f of wheels.........:lmao:
Are you going to run the steel wheels? At least initially? I figured you would want something better looking.

I have a IH body, GM frame, Ford axles, suspension and t-case. Duramax and Allison, to boot.

Well..........I fully intended to run the steel wheels. And likely will. I want to put 37'' (ish) tires on it, but I cannot find anything in a 16''. I've found some 35'' tires that I think I will run, mostly cost based. I can get into them at 195 each x 6. this was supposed to be a budget build of sorts.

Spend 1200 on tires that I dont really want, or spend twice that on wheels so I can spend double that on 37s. thats not really in line with the budget build.

I have a couple sets of toyo rt 37s if you want something cheap to get rolling. Have a new set of 13.5s and used 12.5s for 17" wheel. I'd let either set go cheap.

I'd need to find wheels then. send me a message on price and I'll think about wheels. thanks

got the rear sitting together. thing is a mile in the air. I think the "6"" lift number is for a 4x4, gaining 6'' from that. I wonder what the lift total is going from 2wd. oh well, lets see where the front lands when the springs show up and I get the motor sitting in it.

u-bolts too short too, but I'll sit on my hands until the front is together. maybe dont need the 2'' block in the rear.
