We're debating whether to go Hwy93 or I-15 to I-84. We'll probably end up going I-15.
i drive 93/318/6/93. I15 is only better because of the speed. If you have been through southern Utah I would go the other route. 93 the whole way is an hour or two longer. But you can swing through Great Basin National Park.
if you want better views in Idaho stay off the freeway for what you can. It has that route because it's the shitty land. The scenery is way different off that route.
Highway 30 from Bliss to Burley.
Highway 20 from Mt Home to Blaine County.
Highway 26 from 93 to Idaho Falls.
some places worth a stop:
Bruneau Dunes
Bruneau Canyon Overlook
Thousand Springs , might be able to do a diner boat ride
Malad Gorge is neat but really only worth it in high water
Miracle Hot Springs
Banbury Hot Springs
Nat-Soo-Pah
Shoshone Falls and Twin Falls (the actual falls). Not really running this time of year but whatever
you can canoe under the prine bridge to pillar Falls
Shoshone Ice Caves
Craters of the Moon
City of the Rocks
St Anthony Dunes
my knowledge is lacking in eastern Idaho for the most part.
Kind of outside what you stated. Boat rides and rafting in the Salmon, Hells Canyon, and the Payette. The Salmon can be hit on the west, central, and east side of the state.
Depending on on timing I may be able sneak away for a boat ride on the Snake near Bliss.
i still call the hospital in Twin Tragic Valley. It may be better now but I always told people to die trying to get help somewhere else. Going to be dead either way.
I'm motorhome shopping and would like to see your renegade if you come close. Not a lot of opportunity to see them here.
Oh and Idaho Falls is close to 5000'. The winter there is almost a month longer. Same with cascade and McCall. The wind gets higher as you go east because Wyoming sucks so much. Treasure Valley gets more inversions because of less wind (kind of).
