Possible road trip in the next few weeks

Well that sucks. They don't make any exceptions if there's no specialist? My youngest son had some medical issues growing up and we got him referred to Shriners in Spokane because they were the specialist.

Not with Medicare Advantage plans as far as we can find.

Is Medicare administered by private insurance companies where you are? It is in NY state. I believe you can only change plans late in the year? But I now have United Health Care Complete, costs 16 bucks extra beyond the $110 and it seems to have good coverage for me going through the medical shit show for the last year.

Yup, administered by private companies that have to meet requirements set by Medicare. There's open enrollment every Nov. for the next year's plan. If you do nothing you keep the plan you have. You can change during the year if you move out of the plan's area. We checked into the "standard Medicare", Parts A, B, & D, then adding the supplemental to cover the 20% standard Medicare doesn't cover and it'd cost us a bunch more.

Well, Sharon has exercised her prerogative as a female and changed her mind about Twin Falls. :flipoff2: She's done some more "digging" and decided the "doctor situation" is acceptable. So, we're now planning on a return trip back to Twin Falls in December. She wants to check out the area some more and she also wants to experience the winter weather. This time we'll be spending the whole time in Twin Falls so we can have more time at it. The plan is to leave on a Sunday, either Dec. 6th or 13th, one day to drive up, two days to check out the area, and the fourth day to drive home.

FYI;
January is the dead of Winter; 100%.

Early/mid-Dec.; you're only getting 50-60% of Winter.

But make sure you windproof outer gear.

10 to 15+MPH winds at 32*F (and lower) is fuggin' cold!! :eek:

I know, I grew up in Wisconsin and know about wind chill. We'll see how this goes. :laughing:

Hagerman is more protected from the winter. Little further drive to Twin.

if she has questions about the doctor I could put you in touch with my mother in law. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's several years ago. She lives in Buhl so I would bet it's the same doctor.

Late November through February is a crap shoot. It can be cold or warm, windy or not. Thanksgiving last year was zero, windy, and snowy. The rest of winter it was mild and hovering around freezing or above.

my god father wants to sell me his lot on the river. It needs a new house but I would like to be there now. Understand Your thoughts on Boise. Fuck all these imports... like you. :flipoff2:

I'll talk with Sharon about contacting your mother in law. The winter weather sounds like Wisconsin, you don't like it, wait a day or two and it'll change. :laughing:

Pretty much. Back in the good old days racing bikes it wasn't uncommon to have snow in the morning, rain and hail mid day, sunny and nice in the afternoon, then finishing the day with snow. March weather.

Winter in Boise or Twin F. is typically milder vs what we get in/around SLC valley. At least it used to be (worked all over Idaho 2014/2015).

Wife and I just made it back home earlier, decided to make a trip out to Shoshone Falls / Dierks Lake area. Since my aunt still resides in Twin we dropped by since we were close.

I was told home prices are skyrocketing primarily thanks to Commiefornians moving to the area.
1800 square foot home is going for $300k or more.
Basically something that was unheard of before. So following Boise/SLC model.
They paid their house off long ago ($55k), and are staying put.

However locals are having a hard time competing with more affluent buyers from out of state.

Fucking import. :flipoff2::lmao::beer:

On a side/historical note:
When my dad got stationed in San Diego in 1975 (I was 10y.o.); I remember the Californians having 'Welcome to California; now go home' bumper stickers on their cars.

Working in the downtown ER in Boise; I asked my patients where they're from.

About half said they were from outside of Idaho.

The same when I worked as an EMT in San Diego.

to me it's the same people that ruined California that moved on to Portland and Seattle to ruin it, and now the are moving onto the next victims. Like every sci-fi movie the go place to place, destroy it, then move to the next. I don't have real numbers but I bet 75% of the population of this valley has been here less than 15 years.

I also think the only thing helping us from turning really crappy at the moment is the large influx of LDS. They are traditionally more conservative. 5 wives and all. :D

I first got to San Diego in 1972 for 2 months of school, then to the USS Ranger in Alameda for 3 years. I was then sent to NAS Miramar in San Diego for 3 years and then the USS Kitty Hawk in San Diego for 2 years. Where was your dad stationed and what did he do ? I just might have met him. :laughing:

In here since '99. :flipoff2::smokin:

What boogles my mind is the fact that liberals, in this case from CA, move elsewhere because they voted in people to create their liberal utopia only to find out they can't afford what they voted in!

And then they move somewhere else, in this case Idaho, and they continue to vote the same way!!1! :mad3::mad3::mad3:

I just find found out in Feb. that Boise has a pinko/libtard/progressive mayor!!!:eek: :mad3:

IMHO; that proves my point.

The libtards move up here and voted one of their own in office.

My dad was a bubblehead; he was stationed on a nuke sub, USS Haddo, at Ballast Point from '75 to '80.

His friend was a mechanic on E-2 Hawkeyes VAW-114 Hormel Hawgs; which was attached to the Kitty Hawk.

I went on a daycruise with the 'Shitty-Kitty' in '79 before they went of WESPAC; where they ended up going to the Arabian Sea during the Iran Hostage crisis.

Meh, that's a cop-out. Both sides of my family are from Washington and are full of liberals. School teachers, newpaper reporters, etc.. Also lots of fishermen, hunters, cabin owners, etc.. There were plenty of liberals in WA before the tech industry arrived, it just made more city dwellers who tend to vote lib.

Damn, I probably saw you on that 1 day cruise. I was aboard then and was on the Kitty Hawk when it went to the Arabian Sea for the hostage crisis. We got back to the P.I. after 75 straight days at sea and were ready to PARTY. After no alcohol for 75 days it only took a few beers and we were BOMBED. :lmao:

Jeez I thought you were city and could vote in the mayor election. I told everyone to vote out that crooked shirt wit master Bieter and that is what they ended up with. I understand "careful what you wish for" much better now.

oh well, I just spent three days in the mountains with 10 Cub Scouts, headed back out Sunday for a week of boating and fishing. Doing my best to pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist.
