Possible road trip in the next few weeks

Well, we checked out the greater Boise area. IMO way too many people for my tastes. Cruised around the residential areas of Nampa and they were nice looking. To the south of Nampa and Caldwell looked nice. Sharon is undecided, but I favor Twin Falls. Stopped into a WinCo in Twin Falls and were shocked at how cheap lots of the prices were. Heading back to Ramona in the morning.

boise has grown massively over the past decade, just insane. far enough outside of twin falls to not have to deal with any of the actual city flack :smokin:

Talking with Sharon some more she feels we didn't give Idaho Falls enough of a look. She's thinking to maybe go back and look some more there.
Neither of us liked the Boise area because of how many people, but it's a distinct possibility the daughter/SIL will end up there because there are more jobs.
They're going up over the 4 day Thanksgiving weekend to check out pretty much what we did.

got a buddy that recently moved to idaho falls last year, well a few miles north to rigby. him and his famiily like it.

RUGER

Idaho falls has a lot going for it. There are tons of outdoors things to do and see. The winters are drastically different compared with twin falls though. Much colder and a lot more snow. When we head that way to go snowmobiling the temperature seems to drop 20-30 degrees and the snow gets deeper the closer you get.

Here's a few pics.

Well, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT. Sharon did some more research last night and there are ZERO neurologists in the whole state of Idaho certified to treat Parkinson's disease. That rules out Idaho. :frown:

Sorry to hear that.

Utah is where all the special-specialties.

When I worked in the E.R.; we'd ship patients to UofU hospital a few times a year.

how far are you willing to travel? salt lake city greater metro area has similar geography and climate as southern Idaho and SLC should have whatever specialists you could need.

Salt Lake City is where the nearest neurologist certified to treat Parkinson's is at. We're on Medicare and if we lived in Twin Falls that'd be "out of the plan" and we'd end up paying $$$$$$$$ to see that neurologist. :frown: Neither of us is willing to live in the SLC area. Way too many people. A big part of the move was to get AWAY from big cities. That's why we didn't care for the Boise area. Sharon's now looking into if a neurologist is available in the Flagstaff, Az. area. The Medicare plans cover all of Coconino county, which gives us a wide area to look for houses.

This. If it does then move to the panhandle of ID.

As I posted, there are ZERO neurologists certified to treat Parkinson's in the whole state of Idaho. Not interested in Washington or Oregon as they have similarly fucked up politics like California. Sharon found 8 certified neurologists in Flagstaff, so we're now searching to see if there's affordable housing in the area. That's the entire county of Coconino, so it includes Williams, Parks, Sedona (partly), & Happy Jack.

Spokane, wa is 15 miles from the Idaho line is why I suggested it. Flagstaff is a nice area too.

You'd be amazed at how many people live in Couer d'Alene area and use Spokane for jobs, etc. And people living in the Spokane area do the same for ID.

That works for jobs, but not for the Medicare Advantage plans. It goes by county, so living in another state doesn't work.

Well that sucks. They don't make any exceptions if there's no specialist? My youngest son had some medical issues growing up and we got him referred to Shriners in Spokane because they were the specialist.
