What's new

Panzers: I break rocks thread

Do they have a socket on the bottom or how do they lock into the base? Never seen a pneumatic torque multiplier before, that looks impressive.

I forgot to grab a picture for you but they have a boss at the bottom I bored a hole in the plate for it to fit and there is the hole for for a pin to go in to keep it from spinning. Worked good.

That j gun is awesome. It will make 2500 foot lbs easy. It’s quiet and just torques.

Had to do a bunch of fixing on a loader I bought this summer. It needed the cylinders resealed, center bearings, and a tranny cooler. So I tore it all apart.

It’s the last loader the old timer had. It’s low hours one owner. Just getting old at being over 20 years old.

Split the machine in half.

Top hole of the bottom bore engine side was .035 wobbled out. So I welded it up and lined bored it out to a .003 fit.

Line bore installed and cut the hole round before welding .

All done. Not proud of the surface finish. Had the bearing a touch to far away and had a bit of chatter.

Got it slid back together this afternoon. Fit together beautifully.

Got the new cooler installed, radiator I sent to the radiator shop to get cleaned. Will be waiting on the steering orbit, and fan pump/motor to get back from the hydraulic shop to be resealed also. Should be a new machine when I’m done.

I love the new garage. Tons of room for these stupid activities.

I'm sure the overhead crane makes shenanigans much easier as well :grinpimp:

Aaron Z
It does. Takes a hard job and turns it into a 1 person easy job. Gonna pull a moil out of a surestrike end block tomorrow by myself. Damn block must weigh 4-5000#. Moil is damn near 10” around :lmao:.

I still need to put on a fall protection harness and Superman across the shop on the crane. :lmao: :flipoff2:

Sounds like as much of a game changer as the 2 post lift I just put in, or my little walk behind electric forklift is in my small shop.

Video will be required to prove it happened :lmao:

Also eliminates the need to lift/move things with other heavy equipment which makes a whole lot of operations more safe and precise.

You'll never have to holler over a diesel engine to tell the guy what he has to do in order to make a trans line up or whatever.

A former coworker when I was a technician at a caterpillar dealership was upgraded from a Chevy 3500 service truck to a 5500 with a crane and did just that. Stellar cranes over 6000 lb capacity iirc is rated to be used as a tie off point when working high up. Gotta test it right?

Exactly when you live and die by the short work season all your shit needs to be up at all times. I wouldn’t know what to do if I lived down south where they can work 99% of the year. I would probably work my self to death.
We kinda ran into that at the last place I worked. Company is MN started and based. Have expanded south into AZ and SoCal among other places. OG MN guys were go-go-go despite being able to run 12 months.

A friend is getting ready to put up a 2 post lift (the type with a cylinder across the top and roller chains to lift the arms), he has a small skid steer, I told him that when he is ready to put it up, I will bring over my walk behind forklift.
2000# 10' up in the air, no issues with moving 1/4" and you don't have to yell over the skid steer motor.

indoor zipline
pile of concrete blankets or whatever for the landing zone
Put the pile of concrete blankets in a loader bucket and make somebody else run the loader at the other end of the shop and catch him.

Got a small project done this morning before taking the kids to basketball. Built a pool table moving cart. Need to move my coin operated pool table from one room in the basement to the utility room for a bit while I finish the room. I was able to move it all by myself with no issues. :smokin:

Could have used a crane but I still know the old school methods of man the fuck up and get it done lol.

Even was able to jump the 2” ledge to get in into the utility room.

I spy indoor wood furnace
Correct I have 3 methods to heat the house. Indoor wood stove, outdoor wood stove and a fuel oil furnace. No reason not to have a warm house in the winter. :lmao::flipoff2:

The copper lines above the wood stove are the lines from the outdoor stove. See all the room you can have for this stuff when you have a basement. :stirthepot:

Your putting a lot of faith in what looks like a harbor frieght dolly.

Get to much weight on them and the wheels flex letting the bearings in the swivel fall out.

Sitting in my msha refresher today uggh. This has to be the longest day of the year.

I’m bored going through my pictures to see if I missed anything interesting for you guys.

Forgot I had the boys toss together a stand for an old sander of ours. That way I can just pick it up with the loader to sand my yards. The pickups with sanders in them are always out doing the paying stuff. This way it will not get stolen.

I hacked a harbor freight wireless winch controller to be able to turn the sand on and off from the cab. It was the cheapest 12v wireless controller I could get.

Also got a new toy that showed up the last week of December. She is huge. Pretty excited to get it working this summer.

Also this is the base that holds the moil on the surestrike. I need to figure out how to repair a few of the 1 1/2” fine thread bolt holes in this block. I called to see what a new one costs and it was right around 17,000 for the block.

I had to do the 3 day new miner at red dog mine in bfe ak last week just so I could go outside and measure some plow trucks for a few hours before the plane left on day 4. I now understand your hatred of msha :lmao:

I did get some cool pictures though, biggest zinc mine in the world. They were relining? one of the jaw crushers, fuckers 8 stories tall.
