Panzers: I break rocks thread

Looks like they're having far too much fun.
Does the generator usually live on a trailer like that, or does it get set off if you're going to be there for longer?
I thought at one point you were looking at putting it onto a four-wheel munitions trailer or something like that, but it's been awhile and I may be misremembering.

That one lives on that trailer. Was a temporary deal that turned permanent. I should find a cheaper trailer to put it on. That’s a 30 ton detachable lol.

Boys love that stuff. Nice and dry goes through like butter. No mess anywhere.

Only a cool 3/4mil of capital investments in that video.
3/4 at todays auction prices. Replacement cost for all new equipment would be close to 2-2.5 million :(. Stupid, Just to smash rocks. This is only 20% of the shit show :homer::lmao: This is the small plant:lmao:. I know I will never own a new crusher just used stuff for me ;(.

Does $4500 count as cheap? Heavy mobility ammunitions trailer - trailers - by owner - vehicle...

I was wondering about tying up a removal neck trailer like that for a generator...

  • The M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer (HEMAT) is an 11 ton, wagon configuration, off-road trailer designed to move the US Army’s Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) missile pods and munitions. The versatility of the HEMAT enables the U.S. military to accomplish multiple mission ranging from its primary role of hauling MLRS missile pods, to aircraft munitions, to fuel pods and bladders, as well as a multitude of other cargo. The four wheel wagon configuration design functions to provide a stable platform with the added benefit of a balanced suspension system to further enhance off-road capability. Another benefit of this design configuration is the ease in which the trailer can be hitched and unhitched to the prime mover. The trailer’s tongue is easily maneuvered to the towing pintle while the load remains stable and supported. This design enables users to rapidly drop off a loaded trailer without the need to support a heavy trailer tongue. Users must only chock block the wheels to create a safe environment around the HEMAT.

The HEMAT’s performance was demonstrated on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan where the reliability, and off-road capability served the military exceptionally well.
    • Curb weight: 4,932 kg / 10,850 lbs.
    • Payload: 10,000 kg / 22,000 lbs.
    • Deck area: 4470.4 mm x 2438.4 mm / 176 inches x 96 inches

she made to carry 22K lbs of MLRS rocket pods, cross country, as fast as someone that doesn't give a fuck can go. I'm pretty sure your genset be OK.

it's got air brakes and such, and looks like it was meant to be hauled behind the m977 trucks, so it'll probably do 55.

or you could prolly stick a fixed fifth wheel tongue on front, dumb trailer axle on the back and do the slammy bangy mechanical drop deck hitching procedure on it

just using the genset's skid as the trailer frame

That was always the other option. I would still toss rails under it as the skid is the fuel tank and would hate to crack it going down the road.

Unreal the volume that cone can swallow and what’s coming out the other end. +1 on a long loop or stream haha

Garage update. Still haven’t got an insulated overhead door in the one end. The slider is also un insulated. No additional heat in the building. Parked a few trucks in last night. This morning it was 41 in the building outside was 10. I’ll take that.

It's really impressive the heat a vehicle brings into a building. Even a single compact car with a warm engine coming in from the cold outside will net warm up both my shop and my garage even if the door opens fully to let them in. Love that!

Many old repair shops didn't have heat
just got the exhaust hose port in the door, and you keep at least one customer car high-idling in there to keep the heat on

Day 2 parked 4 warm trucks and a loader in the building. -6 outside 38 in the building.
Guys are pumped that the trucks are staying so warm. They hated the get them running circus as much as I did.

Got another garage door guy coming sometimes this to get me another price on a door.

1st quote was at 20,000 for a door with 2 panels with windows a opener and a install.

That is awesome, gotta make everything easier in the morning!

Panz, How much $ per day are you saving in wages your guys aren't making product when they are trying to get the trucks started?

now those wages are spent making rock to sell  when you think of it that way those insulated buildings will pay for themselves pretty quick. :smokin:

No it is worth the money. It’s glorious to be able to park 5 trucks and 2-3 loaders inside where it’s 30 degrees warmer. I can say I now have too much warm parking area.

When I figure out how I’m gonna heat the new shop that’s right next door I’m sure this pole shed will get some heat love also. That way I can keep it 40 at all times.

no i agree completely. I bet you are money ahead in no time with the time saved not fucking with cold engines.

We want hard numbers. :flipoff2:

This week was cold and short so me and the boys tore apart 2 loaders. One needed all the hydraulic cylinders resealed and the radiator repaired.

Second one needed a new trans/hyd cooler cylinders resealed and new center pins. This loader was one of them I just bought this summer from the old guy. It’s a nice 644h 10,000 hour or so.

I had to fix one hole in the engine frame as it was .030 out of round. Surprisingly the others were all real good. I need to go out there today and take the last .056 out of the bore to finish her up.

These John Deere hydro coolers suck. They are all aluminum and the local shop cannot fix them. So it’s a buy a new one at $4,000. The leaky one is the dual radiator on the far right. I took the center section to the radiator shop to get rodded and checked for leaks. The left section is the charge air cooler, I’ll check that one and clean it myself.

The new trans/hyd cooler came and it seems like they beefed it up. It’s now a bar and plate cooler vs the weaker core that was leaking.

Lol I’m not sure how you can put numbers on my ass fucking around under a truck when it’s 0 or colder out trying to get it warm enough to start. Usually just ends with me getting pissed off and hopefully finding a loader big enough that will start that can pick the ass end off the ground and pushing it into the shop to warm up.

I was thinking you could estimate time saved over a time period and go extrapolate from there to an estimate of extra production.
