Panzers: I break rocks thread

Put it in that badass bench vise of yours (so it can't spread), torch gouge it out and fill it with weld.

That bore welding setup is certainly looking to be one of your best purchases ever.
I don’t know it makes more work for me :lmao:.
I do have lots of old shit so this is a vital tool to keep it in the not so bad condition colum.

Just need to pony up for a not halfassed one. Mine works but has lots of room for improvement. The muffler band clamp I have been using to hold the welder to the bearing plate has been a huge time saver over the arm and stand. That takes like 20 mins to setup and get straight . The band clamp is a less than 5 min deal.

Yesterday I fucked up. Dad was bugging me while I was finishing up the second walking beam. I was using the snap gauge to get a bore size and I meant to tram it into the hole, instead I turned the drill on. Bent the fuck out of 2 of the rods:homer:. $150 later replacements are on their way:mad3:. I gave dad a quit bugging me when I’m doing this shit reminder.

So while I’m waiting for the tool I decided to work on punch plate. This shit sucks, but I’m too cheap to spend $1500 a panel. This stuff will save a ton of time this summer. Probably get another 20-30 hours of crushing and save 10k in screen costs.

Just need to sit here for 3 hours or so a panel.

Big pile to go:homer:

For my side quest while I was waiting I got the crane hoist hung and working. Need to get more cord but I’m sure the extension cord will be a long term temporary fix:lmao:.

IMG_9624.jpeg

I didn’t put any lead in so the drops stayed in the sheet. Would rather them be on the floor vs in the tank.

How old is your Shop Sabre and how do you like it?
My buddy has one and it seems to be a dang good table. I dont have a lot of time running it but it seems very nice. His is only a couple of years old but so far he has had zero issues.

It’s has to be 3 years old now. It’s my little brothers. He bought it for his trinket side business. I like it for the most part. Not a ohmic touch off fan. Would like to be able to move the torch a set distance without writing code, water table is ghey. Other than those issues I like it.

I was gonna see if they would sell me a gantry and control for me to put on my water table. I like the table I built. It just needs a new control and now that my brother has a table its priority on the repair list went way down. :lmao:

My brother wore mine out starting his side hussle:lmao:. So now I get to return the favor.

Little loader all put back together and done. Put my brother on the mission to get the bucket leveler working again. Ended up being a broken power wire that turns the sensor on. Of course the harness is obsolete so it got an extra wire run along side of it for now. She is super tight now:smokin:.

Two of our trucks needed new bushings in the walking beams. Let the go a touch far and they messed the bores up a bit.

IMG_9615.jpeg

The guys who put the bushings in have a $900 core on the beam and they don’t have any extras atm. So for $900 a beam I’ll fix mine up back to factory specs so they can push new bushings into mine. $900 for the bushings and press job for a pair. $1800 in core for the beams.

That kind of money I’ll spend a day with the bore welder and get them fixed.

IMG_9603.jpeg

Bored them true.

IMG_9607.jpeg

Welded them up
IMG_9608.jpeg

I just love how nice this thing welds. It is amazingly smooth for a weld job.

IMG_9614.jpeg

Rebored it to size. Well almost. I was in a hurry and bored it to size but the beam was warm yet. Pulled the line bore off to start on the next one and when the other was cutting I was checking my measurements. Fucker shrunk .005:homer:.

Called up my cat buddies to see if they had a set of stones for my hone I could use to get that last little bit out. No way could I get the bar back in and straight to take that little bit off and not fuck it up to where I need to re weld.

They came through there is a set sitting on the service guys desk for me :smokin:. Pays to have friends :lmao:.

Got my die made for the brake press to finish up my mini loader.
IMG_9612.jpeg

Went foot until I got over 80degrees on the center bend.
IMG_9610.jpeg

Cracked the bar:lmao:.
IMG_9611.jpeg

I think a few guys shit their pants when it went bang. I thought my die broke nope the 7/8 x 3.5 bar cracked.

I’ll try it again with 3 60 degree bends vs 45 90 45. This is for the link between the dogbone and bucket on my 904h that my brother crashed last year. This is the last part and she’ll be better than new again.
Careful doing short thick parts like that. You can exceed the max tonnage per inch value and upset the ram/tool/die block.

Check out this big fella. 400T 20'

3hrs a panel seems slow?

I'm a big fan of a water table 6-8inch below the cut area with expanded metal to prevent most of the drop from going in. water still captures a ton of smoke but saves the water mess, and hypertherm claims you get a better cut not being in the water on steel.

just last week I had a need it now job... 32,500 5/16" holes in 1/4 stainless. worked round the clock, I set a baby monitor up on the table to watch it while I got some sleep. took me 3 days. wasn't fun but pay was good.

I hate babysitting a table

Was 130 mins total. Was close to 700 pierces in that panel. The second panel made it without one stop. I was pissed I could have went and done something productive while it ran. Said fuck it and put a third one on. Jesus will be at the wheel for that one:lmao:

Good to toss in the cement mixer to deburr smaller parts. A mix of slugs, driveway gravel, 5gal water and 2hrs nice shinny parts.
Laughs at the deburring of parts. These screens won’t even get the slag knocked off. They’ll get tossed in the plant as is:lmao:

I hate deburring and grinding I'll do anything to avoid manually doing it. Slugs edges work well for knocking off the slag. Often find the mixer walked itself off the loading dock when it gets quiet outside.

Nah if you guys want some I can toss some Along with copious amount of glitter in a flat rate box for you.

They are 1.5” and 2” minus 2 kerf widths in size ar400

Pretty sure I had plans for the ones you sent me like 2 years ago.
As soon as I remember what those plans are, I shall proceed.

Have him punch holes in the drops and use them as washers for all sorts of petty shit that doesn't deserve a real washer.

Sure, it'll add maybe 10-15% job time but since it's already a "walk away and come back later" job it probably doesn't matter unless that pushes you from 2/day to 1/day or something.
