What's new

Official Watches of Chit-Chat Thread!

The Omega also belonged to my father. While I didn't get to know him well thankfully I do have memories of him which is remarkable.

In my single digets I learned he was building an airplane in our garage, was 1/10th a second from the word record in flat bottom boat racing in Oakland CA. He also designed the bulk of the machinery in our family business which was cardboard box manufacturing in Hayward ca.

A truly amazing man, and it still troubles me to know that I've not come close to his shadow.

I'm a big fan of Clive Cussler books, but I'm entirely too cheap to buy a real Doxa, so a couple years ago I bought a cheap orange Norsk dive watch on ebay for like $12. It was as shitty as expected, so my last birthday I splurged and replaced it with a used Aquinus, its a much nicer piece

Still wearing the work horse. Briefly considered taking it off, but only because i wasn't sure my hand would fit in a small gap.

If it's not a tool, it's just decoration :flipoff2:

Tell you the time with a quick glance when you're wearing jeans, coveralls, a coat and gloves, while laying in a foot of slushy snow under a truck? Not easily.
through out the day all i need is a general idea of time , and i can usually guess close enough that i need to know exact time . coat , gloves , slush , under a truck all at the same time ? i can honestly tell you that would be a perfect storm for that to happen to me and i would bet you my life will never happen !

 Regular occurrence for me.

How about shorts and flipflops and a double handful of CV grease?

Of course, if you just don't care about the time...congratulations!

What you have, want?

Any informaton to share.

I went with Garmin Instinct. Basic activities to track speed, elevation, GPS coordinates, distance, etc.

It seems to be somewhat accurate. Makes it easier to know more information of the hiking/location of where about as I venture out.

I wear this every day. Garmin Instinct Tactical Solar. A month ago I bought my BIL the surf version. No complaints.

It’s linked to my phone and Strava.

I'm in the Garmin bunch.

Fenix 6x sapphire

I do absolutely love a nice watch. I'm a tech type person though and I use the features of a Garmin a lot. Golf, workout tracking, even a glance at it like the picture gets the kernel in my head that I need to get a good workout in today. The battery lasts for weeks. The sapphire face is so nice that I've smacked it with door handles, against engine blocks, hit it with kettlebells dozens if not hundreds of times and not even an inkling of a scratch. I've been wearing it daily since 2019. This is the third or fourth band though.

cant a phone do everything your watches do ?
only when it has service. My watch has a map I can use without cell phone service or needing to download an app. It can tell me speed, barometric pressure, altitude, what’s around me, give me a map with an aerial view 300ft above me or 3 miles above me, and a lot more my phone can’t do. I also don’t want to carry my phone with me everywhere because my watch can do the same stuff except let people call me.

It's been awesome. You both will like it. Having solar is on my mind to buy.

Last 2 or 3 months, altimeter has been inaccurate and worse in humid/sweat. I'm in process of following steps I got from their support with no luck so far. Still about more to go though.

wristwatches are for the uncultured.

peasants.
