What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

Go back and take pics before they claim nothing happened.
Oh we did

Guessing mine arrive Friday, was on their website Saturday morning. Finally saw it parked behind the gate instead of the normal delivery lot Saturday afternoon. Still no call/no info from the dealer, walked past the gate to the body shop that it was parked next to, rear bumper pushed in, dents and obvious misalignment on the hood, and mud splatter everywhere. Guess we will wait for them to wrap that up and contact me. Gonna be an interesting visit at that point.
Did I miss something?
Your new truck arrived and is damaged at the body shop?

The shitty thing is they know they can sell it no problem so they probably don't give a shit if you aren't happy with anything.

I’m also 90% over it given everything else I’ve bought this year. But they have it listed and advertise as below MSRP, so not as aggressive as a lot of places.

Arrived, Damaged, Parked by their body shop, no contact so far. Unsure when exactly or what exactly happened.

Pretty common for them to get damaged in shipping.

I heard 1 in 3 recently.

Granted my F-350 is 12 years old now but I love it because it has all the fancy options except tailgate step and a sunroof.
Mine 19 years old is fanciest of all I owned. Do wish it was long bed.

Kudos to you guys getting new trucks. I could not tolerate the the stupid gimmicks they have now.

Different strokes for different folks.
I don't miss all the hours I spent "maintaining" the 16 year old truck I used to have.
I don't miss wondering if my transmission was going to take a shit on the next mountain pass.
I don't miss the lack of braking power.
I don't miss the lack of engine braking power.

I do love the stupid gimmicks. :rainbow:

I bought a lost leader car for my wife, it was "hidden" in the body shop with a scuff on the door. You know the cars they advertise in the paper at a low price for one specific VIN. I made them sell it to me at advertised price and picked it up when it was fixed. That was an unhappy dealer.

Anyway it's pretty common to have shipping damage. They are delivered by the lowest transport bid.

The maintenance line cracks me up...... There is no maintenance on new trucks? I must be doing something wrong then because I have to maintain the oil and every filter in my service truck (2019 F550) every 5k miles to the tune of about $350 a pop.

Or do rich people drive new trucks until they need an oil/filter change and then trade them in?

$530 yesterday. :mad3::mad3:

I am a special use case, very low mileage. From my log it looks like I am spending around $150/ year on maintenance and around 1 hour of time to change oil/filter and fuel filters. Spending $530 to change your oil, who is the rich ones here? I change it every 5k miles with synthetic 5w-40 and both fuel filters every 10k.
I bought some new take off tires/wheels before the Colorado trip this year and added that "retail" cost to the log for tax purposes.
That tire wheel swap cost me A little under $400.

That sucks.

I bought the same truck, same color, different wheels though, a couple weeks ago. Someone walked away from their order when it showed up at the local dealership, just after I spent $1000 on parts fixing my 2011 Dodge 3500 6 hours from home on my last road trip, which made me get home a day later then planned.

Wife told me to go find something new.

Not a dually, but I ordered an F150 hybrid in March this year. Status has said "in production" for about 3 weeks now. I'm starting to wonder if it will even get built or if I'll have to reorder a 2023.

Congrats.

This got funny today. Salesman did call this morning and leave a vmx while I was on a meeting. “Your truck got here, it’s got a couple dents, maybe from hail” :homer:

Old doggo is having issues today, heading to the vet in a couple hours; we shall see when we can swing by the dealer now.

I would think if you made it to "production" status it will get built. My truck has not even been scheduled yet, my gut has said from day one they will not build it.

That's pretty much verbatim for my truck saga. It puked a trans input seal, then the "high performance" rebuild failed in one way or another 3 times in 3 months leaving us stranded twice, once 3 hours from home with the RV.
That wasn't the first time it fucked up on a road trip either, several years earlier it died between Santa Rosa Nm and Las Vegas NM, that sucked.
Extra two days of vacation on that one.:mad3:
I have a soft spot for old iron and I like creating bad ass shit but I don't like the stress and problems it causes when it lets go.

I used to think you could drop $25k+ on a truck and "recondition" it to like new, but now I am not sure you can get the OEM quality of parts to make that happen.

Yup.

If I was him I'd ask for something to "make it right". Spray in boxliner, aftermarket rear bumper, set of winter tires, whatever.

But as said, they might just say fuck it and sell it to someone else. :homer:

GONRACIN' still on here? He hauled vehicles and seemed to spend as much time putting whole loads of them in the ditch as he did actually delivering them intact.

It makes sense since "truck drivers" is who hauls them and there is a major shortage of "qualified" drivers.

Easily.

I dont have over $25k in any single truck I own and could pull cross country tomorrow.

People qualify and justify how they see fit. If a $100k truck is want you want, power to you. Dont doubt it's not possible though.

I didn't really explain my thought that well.
I used to think you could recondition a truck you already own (lets say regardless of price) to like new,
but I have my doubts it would be possible these days.

It is never new again, a pussy tuck might be great. But its not a virgin.
I have not paid a penny in “ maintenance “ in six years. I am on my fourth new truck in this time period. All the oil changes/ maintenance have been covered. Now i only use my tow rigs for towing. So I don’t run up a shit load of look at me miles on them. And these crazy times have let me stay in a new truck for basically free. I can sell my truck for a good bit more than i paid.

If I put $25k into my 97 F250 I would have a very new and very upgraded 97 F250. I could rebuild the motor and trans with upgraded parts for 10-12k, swap in newer SD coil spring suspension and axles for 4-5k, and have the rest left over for misc stuff like interior and sound upgrades. Other than changing out body bushings, weatherstrip and cleaning up the frame I wouldn't touch the body, it's not perfect but it's close enough for truck use.

Edit: I'd also be the guy doing the labor on all of it except for engine machining. I'm a firm believer that if you want it done right it's best to do it yourself.

Can you be honest about something? How much out of pocket did each of 4 new registrations cost you? Sales tax and registration combined in Colorado is $2940 for a 50k~60k truck. If I had purchased 4 trucks in that time frame I’d be out an extra $11,760 bucks in taxes.

I’m in need of a new truck right now. I’ve found one I like but the taxes on top of going back into debt is really putting me off.
