What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

They don’t actually blow cool. They are just “ventilated.” Was bitching about this to ford because the previous generation actually cooled. Having a sweaty back even though the seats are set as max still sucks.

The massaging seats are nice though.
Cooled or not ventilated is a must with leather, Cloth not so much.

Yeah is just saying it blows cabin air from under the seat (cold this time of year) not ducted HVAC air.

For service guy... "the colder the air in the cab, the colder it blows"
me: Isn't that exactly the opposite of when I need to to blow colder air?"
Service guy: .... .... ....

While technically right I think you underestimate the power of evaporative cooling.

Cotton shirt leaning on a seat doesn't let much room for evaporation. That's the biggest challenge, IMHO. 10 hour drive on a hot day - seats on highest ventilation and back still sweating... sucks...

AC temp?

usually between 69-72 for me... on "auto"...
Maybe it's a minor gripe... the logic just doesn't make sense. It's like saying that heated seats should only work on a hot day. :flipoff2:

It's called a thermoelectric device, TED. The coolest it can blow is 15 degrees cooler than the air it's sucking in. It doesn't blow measurably cool air until ALL the cabin air is below 70. By the time that slightly cooler air goes through the seat, it's just normal air.

It sucks compared to GM seat coolers. I don't know why they can't put a few HVAC ducts going into the seat with cold ass air.

I'm 65.76% sure my 2016 cooled the seats... I distinctly remember having to turn them off a few times. Never been an issue with the new one.

You think they have peltiers in them? I would be shocked if that is true.

A bunch of ford models have Peltiers. You almost have to search vin specific to see. I think the trucks and SUV’s had both cooled and ventilated as options. Ventilated was just a fan. Cooled was the Peltier.

my 18 and 19 high country was about the same as my f350 to me on the seat cooler set up. but my platinum has the massagers that my Chevy's didn't have.

I have a 16 and it will cool the seats nicely once the cabin is cool. I can feel it on my back sweat.

There’s a lot of first world problems in here.

In 2015/2016 I was doing massive research on the new F-150 rollout to see if I wanted a 2016 or 2017 Platinum Super Duty due to the first major redesign of the SD. Among other things, the TED discussions in the F-150 crowd was massive. Furious people, class action law suits proposed, etc.

The new TEDs in the '15 F-150 and subsequent '17 SD sucked compared to the '14 150 and '16 SD. They would actually get hotter when they were turned to cool in many trucks because the ducting couldn't exhaust the hot air the TED creates. It recycled its exhaust to just keep heating the seat.

I bought a new '16 and don't have a single reason to get rid of it.

I just got home after picking up mine, it’s also a CCLB 7.3V8, 4.30 geared 4x4. Ordered Dec 7th, built May 25th, and picked up July 26th.

Put 2800 miles on it doing a road trip back home doing Rt. 66 from IL to NM after side trips to Mt. Rushmore and Devils Tower….Averaged 13.2 MPG over the entire trip. That 7.3 is pretty damn nice, it rarely shifted out of tenth gear and had plenty of balls to climb the hills passing traffic. I won’t know about towing until next week when I plan on hauling my ‘73 EB.

Another Thursday another not scheduled...

Has he said anything since?
No, I skipped last Thursday but I am gonna hit him up again tomorrow (assuming I'm still not scheduled).
Word on the street with the other truck models (Maverick and f150) Is they are offering decent PCOs for carry over orders. Given the shape of the market I think I keep my super deluxe platinum build and hope it gets built as ordered.
That might make it a very expensive used truck if the top line truck volume is way down for two years..

Chess not checkers, but I don't know how to play chess.

On this episode of how the world turns...

From the Salesman.
Waiting for confirmation from Ford that they are not going to be able to build all the high-end trucks that are in the queue for 2022. So with yours being a duly and right off the bat I can't remember if it's a platinum or king ranch, as I am in Kansas taking my daughter to college this weekend, but I know it was a high-end truck and they just cannot build those apparently. Ford is not confirmed that they will roll those to a 2023 model but that is what we are suspecting.
