What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

The 48 gallon tank is bad ass, having a 42 +3X is still awesome, plenty of fuel to make you piss yourself :smokin:
My 18 Ram already had a Transfer Flow 40+Toolbox filling the 32 all the time. Once I got used to their logic, it’s been nice. Pretty sure I can get from North Vegas to KOH and back to North Vegas with the Crawler Hauler and avoid CA Prices.

Hope you like those steps better than I did. I had them on my last F-2fisty and I didn’t think the hoop was in the right place. It was too far forward. I constantly had to search for the step when getting out. I took them off and replaced them with the factory running boards. That was mo betta.

I can get in and out fine without stepping on the hoop so I doubt it will bother me. My wife is just happy that it's not another vehicle in our fleet that she has to climb in and jump out of.

Went to drive my 22 450 today and the batteries are stone dead. 35k miles and they have a 36k warranty on them. Changing them tonight one at a time since my charger didn't like charging them hooked up. Hopefully I can get it back to the dealer to replace the batteries before 36k. Fucking new shit.

Whoever makes those batteries sux.
My '18 hads the driver side leak acid everywhere out the top post and fucked up the cables. The dealer repaired it all but fuck.

Great, sounds like maybe I should invest in batteries sooner than later. Mine are 2022 original.

I'm also thinking about swapping the diff and transfer case fluids over to Redline Shockproof synthetic for peace of mind.

Did the warranty change on batteries? I use to just be 12/12 on them.

Its being covered on the bumper to bumper warranty. One battery was @ 80% capacity after charging and the other was 78%. I go in Monday @ 7:30 for them to replace the batteries and repair the connections since they have corrosion.

Almost ironic to me…

When I bought the 21, it was just after I had replaced both batteries in the 16… so I moved them to the 21 as part of the deal.

Neighbor is considering new batteries for his 22 already.

My 99 service truck I just bought is going to be getting AGM batteries when it is time. I'm rewiring the electric crane and adding a 3rd battery under the crane.

My 2018 has the factory battery. Seems fine so far, but it's in the back of my mind that it might give me some trouble this winter. I keep my Halo in the toolbox, just in case.

I hate working out of a tall rig. Last place I was at, every rig was lifted and on 37's....except my rigs , and it took alot of fighting and bitching to get them to leave it alone:laughing:

They had that truck lifted the day after I quit:homer:
That’s stupid. I see trucks around lifted and wrapped and always wonder what kind of work they can actually do.

Gonna put a VSR on that third? I had hell on the loaner f350 service truck I had about boiling that 3rd battery.

They were going for the image. But they did get alot of work done. Just had to crawl into the bed of truck if you needed something outta the toolbox

THANK YOU

I knew I needed something to prevent the batteries from self discharging each other but other than a ignition powered continuous solenoid I didn't know about those. I had never had a service truck that needed one, most have been hydraulic cranes and one was a V10 with a single battery under the hood and another under the crane with nothing in between.

Going to order this, Dual Battery Isolator Heavy Duty 300 AMP Voltage Sensitive Relay VSR for 12 Volt Systems - Works with All Battery Types Including Lithium and LiFePO4, after I get everything setup. I can add it between the starter and the post under the cab I have going to an inverter in the cab and a junction to the rear. Thank you very much CarterKraft!!!

I also finally got the crane functional by repacking the boom hydraulic cylinder. I could set the crane up and pull the hook down with my body weight. Today I put a sling on the hook and raised myself all 17' off the ground just to make sure it was good for at least 280 lbs lol.

Fuck I've taken the battery in my 95 that's like 6 yrs old down to 0v at least 3 times now and it just keeps kicking. Go Walmart batteries.

Along with small engine carburetors, I just somehow have amazing luck compared to the rest of the fuckers in this site.

Guys with 7.3L gassers, what's your towing MPG?

Figured out I can order a F350 dually gasser, with a 10k fixed gvw, so it's back on my radar.

Assuming 7500 curb weight, I'll be 14k unloaded and ~26k loaded.

best unloaded was 15, 14 typical. worst was 5.8 pulling the 36' pintal hitch trailer with 2 hummers. the wind drag was crazy on that one. that is driving 80 plus.

I don't have a dually, mine is a 350 SRW CC LB, 4.30 gears, but as it sits unloaded it is just a hair under 8k weight, warn bumper and winch and rear ranch hand bumper. I get roughly 8-9 mpg towing 10k in my area, so 7,500' elevation and in the mountains. I'd have to go outside to confirm, but I believe it has averaged 14.4 mpg lifetime to date. About 95% of that is highway driving.

This was 1,100 miles towing a 17k load with 4.30 gears. F250.

If that's any accurate at all, 8mpg would pencil out ok. Right now I get 11mpg with diesel (5.9L). Current prices gasser would cost ~7 cents more a mile. Or about $100 more a week, so $400/mo... $4800/yr more in fuel.

It's either spend $60k and try to play the tax game. Or build a truck for $20k and keep buying 'assets' to lessen my tax burden.

Next year I need to source another truck.

I get roughly 10 pulling a dump trailer around, that’s all city though, don’t really pay attention to mpg because it’s a super duty not a Prius.

I did 16-17 running through the mountains of wv, va, a few weeks ago at 75-80. Empty besides 4 adults plus their luggage and crap.

52 weeks in a year.
