What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

Any of you guys with new/near new diesel superduties having issues? My 23 silverado 3500 had bad rear leaves that had to be replaced which took almost 2 weeks. Now the 24 3500 has a tiny oil leak so i am bringing it in on the 14th. My 19 SD i had 0 issues with, granted i only put 18k miles on it. The 23 made it 1500 miles before it had to go in, found the oil leak on the 24 at 7k miles.

Short story shorter, thinking about going back to Ford but I know they all have their issues.
i think mine are well documented in this thread.

2019 or older, IMHO, is the best solution.

New one just arrived at the dealer. They sent me a purchase contract and I'm happy with trade allowance as well as our the door price. They kept it the same as when ordered.
After reading on here late last year, I joined Mustang Club of America to get the new car discount. For those who have received the discount, what did you get and how did you go about seeing what you're entitled to?
I did verify the dealer participated in it when I ordered the truck.

A buddy of mine, who is the son of a buddy of mine, is a diesel tech at GA's largest Ford dealer. The latest version of the Powerstroke is apparently prone to have oil pan gasket leaks. He does several per week.

I had another buddy that had the dreaded oil pan gasket leak just out of warranty. I's a several thousand-dollar job.

I got X Plan through MCA, which is more or less invoice and a reduced dealer fee ($75 dealer fee instead of $699).

They wouldn't let me stack my $500 Farm Bureau Insurance discount though.

Sales rep just emailed me a similar answer.
I'll update in the a.m.

IIRC alldata has it at 12 hours for the upper. Most of them seep, few of them actually leak, rare to see a clean pan with 150k+

How the fuck do you turn the automatic idle shutdown off in a 2023 Stupid Duty? Mine is adjustable for 1-30 minutes. I'd like to sleep longer than 30 minutes and I'd like the AC to be running.

Be forewarned that DPF equipped trucks do not like to idle for extended periods. You will likely plug the EGR and the DPF if this is a common activity. Ford will check the idle time and deny warranty coverage.

I’ve heard you can plug a trailer light adapter with the testing lights in and it will read it as having a trailer attached and deactivate the auto stop.

Edit: never mind, I was thinking about the fuel saving crap the new ones have

According to a thread on fordtrucks they have to pull the cab and engine to do that on the '20+ trucks.

Cardboard on the garage floor and checking the dipstick seems a much cheaper fix if out of warranty.

Until you realize that the oil pan has a pressurized passage in it. Your cardboard won't do shit once it springs a pressurized leak and pumps the oil out.

You need to go to fordpartner.com and enter the key from mustang club to get x plan pricing.
FYI I didn't find that site to be accurate at all with current pricing using my employer corporate x plan account. The truck MSRP was 10's of thousands off like it hadn't been updated in 10 years or something.

Is there a fix for it or just same crappy o rings to blow out again in the next 30k miles?

Any stupid shit like that on the gassers?

Ford sells a new and improved oil pan that comes with partial or non existing oil passages. It permanently fixes the problem once you install the new pan and start it up for the first/last time...

So they had superfluous oil passages in the old one? Why?

Or are they restricting oil flow because bean counters determined its better to have an engine with less lubrication and a shortened life to fail outside of warranty and fix those pesky oil leaks that everyone complains about in warranty? Guess time will tell.

He was doing satire I believe. The upgraded oil pan was not machined correctly and thus provided no path for lubrication to reach the rotating assembly.

You should get X plan with MCA right?

What did (pre order) was get the salesman to print out the x plan price for the truck I wanted to order.

I don't think it will matter after the fact but the dealer has flexibility in weather they will allow you to use a discount or not.

Did the deal. Sales rep had my new contract ready when I got there. With the X Plan accounted for, I saved right at $3500.
Huge thanks to whoever initially mentioned the MCA membership discount.
Got a more than fair trade for my 22 with 38k miles.

Well tell the class, what was the fair trade price?

Yeah the pricing isnt accurate, but thats where i had to go to generate the PIN for the dealer.

why did you trade a 22 for a 23?

Fixed 10k gvwr package on the '23 450 standard output? Can't uncheck it.

A new way to force HO or just a bug?

Decided to get away from emissions era diesels to be honest. Mine has been trouble free. But I read and hear about quite a few of fuel system failures that get costly, quickly.
I also have a great job, no kids and way far up the Dave Ramsey baby step process. He wouldn't bitch about it either.
