What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

I don't have time to type it all out now but our company has 6+ international/Chevrolet CV trucks that I know of now that have a wicked vibration at 60+ mph, like throw your drink out of the cup holder wicked. It's not just confined to the international flavor the Chevrolets have the same problem.

We have replaced wheels, tires, cab mounts, shocks, shock mounts, and drive shafts.

I've been told you can't run Goodyear steer tires, my front wheels are bent (both sides) you can't run 3 piece driveshaft, the tires have to be road force balanced, the tires are too small and on and on.

International doesn't have a clue wtf is wrong, they put a vibration analyzer on it and then report the findings to International who tells them literally what nut/bolt to touch.

I've broke a laptop screen and a coolant reservoir level gauge from the driving with the vibration for less than 10k miles.

What's weird is I have 71k miles on it now and they fixed it at 2500 miles by replacing the continental tires with Michelin and road force balance them.
6 New Goodyear tires at 62k miles and it's pandemonium...

The tire shop has checked for bent wheels, road force balanced 3 times, vibrated beads and the last time replaced the front tires with zero improvement.

There is a rumour the flex of the beam front axle is causing oscillations...

Dumb question…. Front suspension leafs or links?

Leafs, these are MDT trucks.

Funny you mention this...... I saw a brand spankin new Chevy MDT C&C going down 20 today and I swear I saw the front end doing the death wobble thing and kept thinking WTF could be wrong with a brand new truck to make it fo that!?!? Now I know.

Doesn't anybody take pride in the product they build anymore? Country has gone to shit. You know they didn't test that truck much in the real world and just started pumping them out because the computer models said it would be A OK. :shaking:

We don't have it on our '22 450, but we do have lane keep assist. It is not lane correction however. All it does is vibrate the wheel if you drop the outside dually over the line. I actually like that feature. It's not intrusive unlike most of the other ones I've driven. I originally didn't want it, but since we had to order an XLT to get the power driver seat for the wife, the XLT's all come with it.

Blue Cruise and all that other shit that steers itself down the road... No thanks.

You bought the red F450 that was posted in this thread somewhere or am I thinking of sombody else here?

Navistar has had issues with this dating back to 2016 on the HDT side. Brand new trucks with death wobble right off the lot. The company I worked for is a large Navistar customer and spent time working with them to resolve the issue. New steering boxes, single steering dampers, dual steering dampers, tire beads, centramatics, no dice. The best fix ended up being a RF kingpin bearing with a friction disk in it to dampen the oscillation.

Sounds like they still have some issues to work out.

Coworker has a 19ish F350 duallly and had issues with death wobble when loaded with his 5th wheel. I don’t remember the actual fix but I think it was some “updated” steering stabilizer put on under warranty.

Navistar shit the bed in the early 00s. Don't know why anyone would run that junk today.

Just pick your preferred favor of junk today. It's just the wrapper you put around the red motor IMO.

Paccar products have burned to the ground repeatedly on me.
Freightliners have mysterious unsolvable electrical issues and shit HVAC blower motor/wiring.
Internationals wobble and need a CAC from time to time.

Right now I've got 6 Freightliners, 1 International and 1 KW in my fleet. I have zero hesitation to adding another International in the fleet either.

Yeah it does, one of our guys used to be on the truck side and was telling me about the similar issues with the CAT trucks, probably the same issues yall were having.

It's mind boggling to me that on my truck this happenes at 32-38 mph range, I wouldn't think there is enough speed to cause the problem.

If it's bad at 38 imagine what it's like at 64-76mph.

Mexican I saw driving yesterday was in full on fuck it mode and was cruising along at about 70 like nothing was wrong, with the front end flailing about. Truck had temporarily plates and the wooden mud flap/light holder so I assume it was being delivered to a body company. Sombody is about to get themselves a real sweet new truck! :lmao:

See if this works...
Not my truck but a co workers on a field trip today. New truck less than 10k miles on it.

And you paid extra for the vibrating seats… :flipoff2:

^you get used to it. You couldn’t even tell from his voice but yours was all shaky.
I noticed about half way there my voice was shaking with the vibration and even looked to see if he had an air ride seat or something.

I thought that was normal in service trucks. Btw weren't the cat trucks built by Navistar?

"Rough" and vibrations are normal but not this cyclic oscillation that shakes the shit out of stuff.

Can someone give me build info from a vin? Just curious on gears and rear lsd...

Any of you guys with new/near new diesel superduties having issues? My 23 silverado 3500 had bad rear leaves that had to be replaced which took almost 2 weeks. Now the 24 3500 has a tiny oil leak so i am bringing it in on the 14th. My 19 SD i had 0 issues with, granted i only put 18k miles on it. The 23 made it 1500 miles before it had to go in, found the oil leak on the 24 at 7k miles.

Short story shorter, thinking about going back to Ford but I know they all have their issues.
