What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

I've made a habit of keeping receipts and writing odometer numbers on each receipt. Part of me thinks it will be helpful data if i ever have to deal with a fuel system issue...

I'm probably just naïve, but... maybe?
Get a fuel monitor app and enter the information into it.

After building exactly the 7.3 Lariat I would want and seeing what my current 6.7 truck is worth locally, I am thinking really hard about ordering the 7.3.
But...how would you get a good faith trade-in value from a dealer when the arrival date of replacement truck is 4-5 months out?
I can sell outright obviously after the new one arrives. As we all know, trading in is the easiest option. If the trade value is accpetable to me, I would consider that route.
Basically, what is there to do to keep a dealer from saying "we would have given you xx,xxx in December. But the market has dropped and we can offer (15k less) than xx,xxx.
I am in sales now (lumber biz) and spent nearly 20 years in dealership service depts so I'm not a calf at a new gate or anything. Just curious about any strategies I ay not be utilzing.

You can't that I can tell.
I could only get 3 days at most on offers I got when I ordered. It cost me $10k in value waiting instead of selling and waiting.
I didn't have another truck to fill though so what do you do?

I will say its getting interesting... trucks that weren't supposed to be available as stock until 2024 are being dropped off at the dealerships without warning.
Also some trucks (Chevy tahoe/GMC yukon) are still near impossible to get, dealers are having no problems getting $10k+ "market" adjustments for them.

Talked to my buddy today and he had his 16 base model dually at the dealer. The told him it needed some front end parts and a new def heater to the tune of about $5k. He said it's got like 160k miles and was really thinking about trading it in a new ccsb srw truck since he now has a KW and a 99 F350 for truck stuff.

I told him he might want to hold off since it seems like these new trucks are not as reliable as they were a few years ago.

Any idea what something like that would trade in for? Is it going to be like $20k?

My plan, when my ordered unit arrives, is to get a trade in number from the dealer, an outright purchase number from CarMax and then check private party values on the web.

If the trade in number is withing 8% or so (the sales tax amount here) I will trade the truck in. If the trade in number is low, I'll sell it to CarMax or sell it myself.

Here you pay sales tax on the difference between the purchase price of the new vehicle and your trade it. Then your tag cost is $8 per year from there on out.

Bumped into a guy with a 2022 f450 a few days ago. He likes it and is getting 15mpg around town. It’s a beautiful truck. I should have just done the 450 when I had the chance.

He HATES the dealer he bought it from. I bought the f350 from the same dealer. Got some advice on where to go for service.

Big news….

After nearly a year of dealing with the spring perch recall, I dropped the truck off on Thursday at a dealer 90 miles away… I won’t share what Ford did to convince me until it’s final.

Dealer called me today. Truck is “fixed.” A Friggin year of dealing with this crap… and this dealer pulled it off (according to the dealer) in 48 hours.

Will review and pick up on Monday.

I noticed this the last few weeks myself. The Chevy and Ford dealers in town both just got a pile of trucks and are on the lot for sale. These are both super low volume dealerships so them getting stock tells me that there will soon be an excess of new trucks available and the prices are going to go back down to reasonable levels.

14.8 mpg calculated via Fuelly
75% city driving, lots of remote start idle time.

Some vehicles are still in short supply/high demand.

My electric contractor buddy has had a diesel Yukon XL Denali on order for 6+ months they are telling him 2 years...
He bought another Tahoe to get him by but it's a RST and not as well equipped as his '15 LTZ, they offered him $18,5 on trade...

We have called everywhere that has inventory and they all want to add $5-10k for market adjustments...

Tahoes and Yukons are hard to come by. We’ve been looking for one to test drive for my wife. Same with any type of full sized suv really.

If you're not a truck snob that needs the thing to give you a hand job and a back rub while driving to work and the "must have" top of the line badges on it to impress the neighbors in the HOA there are a decent amount of new trucks becoming available.

:flipoff2:
It’s tough if you want those options though. :flipoff2:

We’ve been looking for a fairly base model Tahoe. Basically, whatever is equivalent to a lt optioned truck. Only thing my wife wants is leather seats and remote start.

Maybe, I've managed to see 1 new super duty in the past year on a lot, it was a cab and chassis.

Still haven't seen a maverick

There are two SD's on the lot at the dealer near my shop, at least two more at the one near my house and more than a couple at Platinum Ford a few towns over. If you're going to a dealer looking for a specific truck in a specific color with specific options you'd probably be shit out of luck, but if you need a truck that does truck stuff there are more than a few available.

There are about 300 Mavericks at the LNG plant jobsite I go to regularly. Sunbelt Rentals owns all of the ones there...

I've been mostly just trying to get a feel for how they are doing the interiors and such. I'm a basic bitch, so standard or extended cab long bed stuff

I just checked the local (and largest in GA) Ford dealer.

They only have 9 F350s in stock. 1 dually, 1 long bed fleetside and 7 short beds.
They are priced at msrp. A month ago they were $7-800 over msrp.

No 2023s.

They have 58 F250s in stock. All short beds. All at MSRP. Cheapest one is $54,424 (4x4 XL). The most expensive is $95,898 (Lariat).

Stopped by local Ford dealer Friday to talk about ordering a 23 SD.
The sales rep was old school and limited BS. Said the order banks were still closed, but I could place my order whenever I wanted to. My order would go literally at the the bottom of the SD pile on her desk. When it was my turn so to speak, she'd call me and see if I wanted to proceed. Said it might be end of Feb or early March when the ordering starts back up.
They offered me very fair for my current truck.
She did say the XL, XLT and Lariats will be ordered first. The KR, Limited and Platinums are still up in the air as far as when they will be available for order.

When did they close? I ordered my F250 in late November and Ford accepted the order. They guys on the Texas forum stated their dealers were saying the order books were closed then.

I THINK she said early December is when they cut them off.

Lets clear this up a bit. The Job 2 order banks dont officially open until february-ish. But, you could place an order when everything open back in late october, with a priority 99 code that wont get scheduled until the job 2 banks open in february. Job 2 runs are the higher end trims (KR, platinum, limited) and anyone wanting a black appearance package with a lariat.
