What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

Latest adventure with the service truck. Went to pick it up at the shop earlier today for my trip to Mississippi tomorrow and suddenly the radio is fucked. It was fine on Thursday when I parked it and today it looked like this......

What's with the gay red lights? :flipoff2::laughing:

My heater quit working again in my 19.

Was talking to the boss today about trucks breaking, warrantees, ect. We have 6 19 or newer F550s and they are just not holding up that great. Then the issue is the dealer 30 Mins away refuses to work on anything bigger than an F350. The next closest is an hour and is better but usually booked up weeks or even months out. Then it costs maybe $500 in wages and fuel to drop it off and again to pick it up.

They like duramax trucks and seem to have decent luck with the pickups. Owner buys a new one about every 3 years.

I really hope he doesn't want to go to those Kodiak 5500s though :homer:

Probably crane/remote not stowed lights.

Service is the shits these days no doubt.
I had that big truck problem when I drove a gas C&C 3500 even though it had a glorified plumbers bed with a Zebco 33 crane thy wouldn't work on it, wouldn't even rotate the tires, didn't have a jack big enough they said.

The 4500-6500 cabs suck, I hope you aren't tall...

They're the same cabs as the gm pickups right?

Current truck is a crew cab, I'd definitely opt for something shorter. Not sure if I could get away with a single cab though. I don't have very long legs, so I'd probably be fine, but the boss claims I need to be able to haul 4-5 guys even though I've had more than 2 guys a total of like 6 times in 10 months

One thing I'll give ram is the single cabs are nice an roomy, but God damn you gotta watch out for that giant ass door

Mine has a light and a LOUD AF buzzer, scares the fuck out of me every time.

Its the cab from '17? not the new cab and its 3" shorter than the Ford.

probly has California plates. Dunno why they insist on camping in the fast lane going 2mph under.

Because most of the highways are so congested it doesn't matter what lane you're in. They get so used to it, they just do it everywhere because they just have a cattle/sheep brain.

I know a few left lane campers who grew up in the same rural area as me, away from congested highways. Drives me fucking insane riding with them.

What I never understood, is here they are putting along in the fast lane even though theres plenty of room in the slow lane. Yes you could go around the nipplehead but it is a matter or principal. So after a while they get the hint and pull over. And as soon as you go by, they're ass is right back out into the fast lane again...lol wtf, I dont get it

After I left the local Deere AG dealer they ordered Chevy 2022 6500 trucks with decent cranes vs the F450 with 3200lb cranes they had when I was a road tech. Talked to a tech in one of the new Chevys and he hates it due to the cab and lack of decent turning radius. Ford also wasn't helping them selves when it came out that the frames were breaking in half behind the cab when equipped with a decent service body.

I'm still impressed with this truck compared to the old one. As was pointed out it's either the trans or rear axle ratio or both.

Filled up Friday night for $3.54 getting 701 miles estimated range. Drove on to my MIL's and then home.
Then Sunday I drove to the next town over and back a total of 49 miles, estimated 698 miles to empty.

The lie-o-meter is bs on mine atleast range wise. A fill up will put me at 650 miles and within 10 miles its dropped a hundred miles on 'range'. According to the trip I've averaged 14.0 for the last 7.5k miles. Not terrible considering I do a lot of stop and go and drive 75-80 on the interstate.

Highway empty it doesn't seem to matter mph mpg always seems to be at 14 +/- .5. Unless you drop to 55 then it seems to jump to 16 or so but its a lot of lugging and coasting.

This is 7.3 cclb/4x4

when i checked mine it was only off .1 a gallon. and that was to the bad side. i usually have the truck set at the 50 mile average. i have only driven once that far without the trailer. 4x4 crew lb 7.3

Also I put Husky X act fit floor mats in it.
I wanted weathertech again cause America but I really didn't like how the weathertechs didn't lay flat around the edges, the tan ones I got in my '18 where also badly discolored from I don't know what.

I had heard about Husky liners but figuring they where China so I ruled them out but looking on their website it turned out they are made in Kansas and they have the x-act fit line is a softer material than the TPO I had before.

Got them in the truck and the wife and I both like them alot more than the weathertechs.

Here's a picture of the old ones, shitty rear pic

I love the Huskys. I put them in everything. I prefer the rigid plastic ones.

My business partner actually wore a hole through his driver's front Husky somehow.
Do the hard huskies fold up around the edge like the weathertechs?

That is fairly impressive for a crew cab dually.

Not in 2023...

With all the bullshit and fine tuning on the engine, adjusting every parameter, 10 injection phases, etc; along with X-finity speed transmission, it should knock down 20+.

Crew cab 4x4 duallys were getting mid-high teens, empty, 15+ years ago.

Every time I've seen weathertechs I've been seriously unimpressed. They all get that wrinkly look around the edge every time

The weathertech mats for my Chevy are like that. They have a raised area that my foot apparently rides on, and wore a hole in. They only warranty manufacturers defects, so nothing they will do. I ended up replacing them with some factory takeoff mats a friend had.

We had a few trucks with WT liners and 1 with huskies, years ago. The huskies seemed much cheaper then.

I tried a different brand (can't remember what) in my 97 F350 since WT didn't make them for that year. God those made the other 2 look amazing. They had a giant formed box brake looking deal right by the door jam. You know to keep the mud and water inside the truck? As a bonus, if you stepped on that box brake deal, the whole thing would fold up. I hated them so much I think I just threw them away.

We have WT in the F150 and the 4runner. The ones in the 4runner seem to lay down a bit better. The WT for the back seat of the F150 sucks, slides around, and never layed down right, then the kid trip and step on them.

Best solution is to just get rubber floors. It's an option on any trim level now

This is very much city driving. I'll report back for sure on a highway stretch.
We go my in-laws Friday that's about 90 miles each way.

With a DPF there is only so much you can do and I'd love to lose it in a boating accident but I need the warranty to be intact all across the US. :shaking:

I never hated the WT mats when I had them but everytime I would vaccum the carpet there was a shit ton of stuff between the mat and the carpet.

The husky mats are almost $100 cheaper and I can't really see a reason to pay more at this point.
