What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

No but I can. And I’m not talking about you missing the boat. You don’t have a truck coming yet, by the time it is headed this way you’ll have plenty of market factor to base your decision on.

They haven’t bumped you back from Nov 14 again have they? If they get it built when they say they will you still won’t be seeing it till middle of December.
Still Nov 14 build date.

While used trucks might depreciate faster than they are now new truck prices will remain or increase.
Unless this truck is a problem I won't need to swap again for 3-5 years where I can evaluate the market again.

At work we are booked with engine sales orders through the 3rd quarter of 2024.

There is no way to fulfill that amount of orders IMO the supply chain ripple will continue to be a problem.

My cousin just picked up the F450 he ordered back in March yesterday

Looks familiar, Have the dealership adjust the toe so its doesn't wear out the outside of the front tires.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but skimmed through a few YT videos about the latest super dookie. 6.2 is gone. A shorter stroke 7.3 (6.8) takes its place, but mated to a smaller 10 speed (10r100 vs 10r140) they claim their shooting for class leading power and milage. To me, a 3/4t that gets half decent mpg's is pretty appealing. Our F150 does almost everything we need currently, but don't think I'd feel comfortable adding a cab over on top of pulling a trailer.

On the other end of the spectrum, they're adding an HO version of the 6.7 with stainless exhaust manifolds and a water cooled turbo. Pretty crazy considering they're already leading the pissing match with 475/1050.. said its available in any SD trim or model. A 550hp/1200ftlb/10speed F600 sure would be a nice upgrade from my 350hp 19 F550 at work

Edit: they also added the gay ass steps in the bed and bumper like chevy. :homer:

Sadly the HO models will only be in pickups. Cab and chassis trucks have always had a detuned engine, gas or diesel.

You do know that F650 would be detuned to about 400 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque, right?:flipoff2:

Was taking the F600, not 650.

They claimed they will put it in any superduty 🤷

The detuned 6.7 is what I'm running now.

Just guessing but I would imagine they will put it in any "pickup" Super duty.

While that HO deal interests me, less MPG doesn't.
I'll have to see in a few years how that is working out.

I was figuring that also. If they're not putting the current standard output engine in c&c models, I can't see why they would put a HO engine in them all of a sudden. Was just day dreaming

I'd think it would get the same mileage, but I guess it just depends on you drive it?

Work just had 6 CC long wheel base C&C 550’s with the 7.3 delivered. They’ll weigh 20,000 to 22,000 when all rigged out. We’re all curious to see how well (or not well) they work out. These are replacing 6.7 PSD’s.

how low a gear?

looks like your right, but the also take away 70 or so hp. that sucks

F-550 GCWR

Super Duty GCWR measurements are based on the engine you choose for your vehicle as well as the ratio of your axle, and because this number indicates the weight that you can carry with your car, your trailer as well as your trailer that you must be aware of.

The maximum axle ratio of 4.88:1 Super Duty models that have an engine of 7.3L gas engine can have a GCWR maximum of 30,000 pounds. models equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine can be rated at 43,000 pounds.

You've been around work trucks enough to know that 550hp in a work truck would be a horrible idea
I can't imagine a better mdt power train than the 6.6 Duramax in this chevro-national I am driving.

Not sure on the hp/tq numbers but it runs well, even with a 3.73 rear gear which I think is sort of bonkers for a 23k GVW.

Have you driven a real mdt lately? we have a single axle 2011 peterbuilt pump truck. No idea what engine, but it has a 6 speed auto. It is actually fun to drive, even loaded, it flies up the hills.

My F550 is 45 mph up the 6% grades  it's near 40k lbs, but still is a dog compared to the pickups.

The owners are GM fans and I heard they were looking at trying a 6500 GM. The one I saw up close wasn't too impressive. Sat really high for what it was. Also thought it was lame that it only had 19.5s on a 6500 sized truck. I guess time will tell if they hold up well in everyday work.

That Pete 337 probably has a 6.7 Cummins ISB, but could also have a PX-7 PACCAR (which looks eerily similar to the ISB, possibly just a re-badge?).

My F550 has no problem with 6% grades and isn't a dog weighting 18,750 rolling down the road. If your pulling around a 20k trailer every day it sounds like the owners of your company need to be buying bigger trucks.

I almost ended up with one of those as a service truck but we decided on the F550 because it can be registered as non-commercial to avoid weigh stations and DOT rules, and because I refused to get a CDL unless my company gave me a significant raise.

But, but, it's rated for 40k GCWR! :flipoff2:

I agree, we talked about it the other day. To be fair, it does it fine, but only has 24k miles. I'm not sure how long it will last being maxxed out all the time.

Going bigger likely means no crew cab and no 4wd. I'd prefer a shorter wheelbase, but they claim we have jobs that fill the cab :homer: not sure I'd miss 4wd.

Definitely a different engine all together, just similar architecture.

Paccar claims they get better mileage, so they convince fleet to buy them. But their dogs and end up sucking more fuel to do the same work.

My best truck was a de-rated 750.
That truck is now available with the 6.7 and I bet it's awesome.

Fuck a CDL

It's OK, I've driven them before and they're fine. I'd still take a real MDT inline 6 and trans.

I also do favor the 6.7 Ford over the other 2 for a pickup, fwiw.

I'm well into CDL territory no matter what, oh well.
