What's new

Must have M-18 tools

The day that happens, I'm selling or auctioning everything off.

East Grand Rapids is talking about it...I have a couple customers there. If they pass it, I'm dropping them.

They also have a completely asinine noise rule. I can plow snow at the hospital during the night, but I can't haul snow during the night. Well, not supposed to.

Got a new Bobcat for plowing and forgot to unplug the backup alarm...had a call after the first snowfall asking us to unplug it.

I have a client in a neighbourhood where you can't use gas yard tools, or work on Sundays. Cops got called while I was using a genie lift. He suggested unplugging the beeper and he'd leave me alone. I told him there was nothing he could do to me compared to what worksafeBC can for disabling "safety equipment."

It turned out the client was having cocktails with the mayor, so it was OK after all.

They are doing the backpack thing with the Mx tools.

so are these cord(ed)less tools?

Isn’t This is the same as having a suit case generator and corded tool. Defeats the purpose of being battery powered other than no exhaust fumes.
It says less fatigue which I would guess would be appealing to the weak kids of today with their rolling backpacks and every other simple thing that keeps them weak...

Im really curious to see if the gen 2 stubby does what they say. Ive got one on preorder and im having a hard time believing it will keep up with my mid torque

The surge gives up a little power but its smooth as butter and a lot quieter than non surge.
When I bought mine all the fence and deck builders that do thousands of screws a day said that was the one to get. I love mine and have to be careful not to break stuff like screw heads off with it.

dunno man, I do still really like the power/weight ratio of pneumatic tools as compared to electric shit (even corded stuff)

problem is even the corded stuff is now often weaker than the battery replacement. for ex. an M18 porta band is better than the corded models, and so on. the variable speed power on the dc supply makes it.

and most have traded the 3/8 or even 1/2in air lines for 1/4". them 1/4" lines strangle anything with power.

add in that improvements on air and line volt tools are grinding to a stop... the things that make them good will be regulated out of use. I can only see battery stuff taking over. as it gets better and better, and smaller

its crazy they even have battery powered welders now that have their place. soon enough it won't matter as it will all be done with ai bots. and the next magical break thru.:stirthepot:

Lots of stuff. Drywall, nip a corner of trim, etc
They come in really handy once you have one……. Like a pocket knife. Used for all manor of things, including cutting stuff
I held out till a buddy helped me with a project at my cabin. We used His oscillator a dozen times over the weekend for random stuff. I was sold.

Never even seen one used. Imagine its one of those that after you buy it. you wonder how you did anything without it

Yup. I bought mine when I was replacing the subfloor in a house remodel and whoever had put it down did it before the door frames were in place. There were 6 fucking nails around each side of the door that were inaccessible. First door took me over an hour to get the nails out. Said fuck it and did other stuff and showed up the next day with a M18 fuel oscillating tool and finished the whole house in under an hour.

Shallow cut around the frame, remove the excess and slip the blade under the floor to flush cut the nails. Absolutely perfect tool for house remodel shit.

I use air for air hammer, and i like to tighten pinion nuts with air impacts on crush sleeves, the m18 just hits too hard.

The oscilating pieces of shit are good for cutting plastic fenderwells and whatnot if you dont want to use a fart saw

My understanding is it’s like a backpack blower. Gets the majority of the weight of the tool onto your back instead of in your hands.

I only know of one guy who has a lot of the mx stuff he was doing a job at one of the local hospitals and they required all electric no gas for any interior work. He built them into his bid and said they are pretty much the first tools to get used on any smaller to medium sized projects.

Multitool is great for a multitude of things including hearing damage. Invaluable at cutting things that require a bit of finesse or in hard to reach places.

Some of that indoor stuff is pretty neat. Last rental yard i worked at had a basically gas powered hydraulic pump that could run a 16 inch diamond blade chainsaw on a 100’ lineset to cut doorways in existing buildings, it also had a dust extraction vacuum built in. The cordless shit eliminates a ton of expensive moving parts.
