More inflation - new tires edition

They are, but I have no idea how. I havent seen a truck with any style of Super Swampers in years.

Sema trucks, big mud sxs's, tractor pull trucks, Toyotas on iroks and 43 sx is all you really see.

It blows my mind that they're exclusively an offroad tire company, but can't figure out how to make 35s, 37s and actual 40" tires that people want on their trail rigs that drive on the street. Same with pit bull.

"oH yOu WaNt a 40x16?" (that actually measures 36.5x18) :homer:

Seems like it might be a good time to put my old stock Firestones up for sale...
Would they be the OE Steeltex AT's from the Exploder fiasco?:grinpimp: Be sure to tell them to inflate to the proper pressure:flipoff2:

Random fact:
Drove 1500 miles on a set of 10yo recall tires from this that "somehow" made it out of the dumpster post-recall from my HS/college job at the service station. These were mounted on the back of a 1972 Ford LTD I drove from Iowa to AZ to sell it so it didn't get derbied, cuz I thought it was too nice to junk that way... FYI I put 44psi in them, exceeded 100mph on several occasions on I40, no issues:smokin:

Midwest wheeling is more friendly to a bias tire. I've had 34LTBs on XJs, 36TSL on XJs and now 40LTBs on my buggy I like them though the 40s are hard as a brick so not great for rocks hence why I want the stickies.

Not tires, but I want to rebuild the stairs off of my deck and build a landing. Floor is 9' from the ground. I was quoted $5k in materials to do a 4'x4' landing, railing, stringers, etc. Materials are all Trex. $5k for fvcking stairs!!!

Trex is stupid expensive and not that great.

This new pressure treated lumber is rotting out after just a few years if you're in a moderately wet climate. If you were in the PNW or somewhere like that I don't know if you could get the damn stairs built before it started rotting.

This is why I stick to factory take offs. Tires alone run ~$100-150 per tire for new take offs or tire and rims run about $800-1000 for a set of 4. Usually in the 265/70/18 or 275/70/18. Just find a size that everyone takes off to “upgrade” then you have a supply of cheap tires.
I couldn't believe how little I was able to get for a set of new-ish Wrangler takeoffs. I got them for free, someone put them out for bulk pickup :shaking:

tires were pretty new, wheels were like brand new. Set of 4 I think I got less than $200. I tried to find a reason to keep them but couldn't

this thread has further confirmed the Escalade wheels/tires are staying around to go on the Yukon when those wear out, they're at least 80% and nobody pays shit for used but new are $$$

I work for a large tire company and am surprised how the prices keep going up. On top of it they are all about up selling them on cars cause the sales numbers are down. No shit, really? I wonder why the sales numbers are down:homer: Y'all near doubled the price of tires:lmao:

I can tell ya 100% the prices aren't going up because the labor has become more costly.

Conspiracy theory time-

There's weird shit going on. I just put Nexian on my beater Santa Fe because there was none available (anywhere in the US) in our brand. Forever backordered.

I build this spec on my machine. We build the fuck out of it.

So where are they going?

I know there is better options. Problem is my entire screened porch and deck are built out of Trex. I was just simply trying to match the stairs and railing to what I have. It's going to stay the shitty wood because I'm not paying $5k.

What are your thoughts on Nexian? I had a set on my dually from the factory and 4 of them blew out or separated in less than 20k miles.

Does Cooper still make Eldorado? I used to run those old Eldo ZRT MTs back in the day. Those things were the shit.

Yep. A friend bought a new Bronco with Bridgestone 16" tires. He ordered new wheels and tires and I bought all 5 Bridgestone for $500. The 4 had about 100 miles on them. They are going on my Ranger that might see 1000 miles a year. It stays in the garage so with no UV. They will last me many years.

I'm running new Bronco takeoffs on my 4-Runner DD. I think I gave the guy $300 for all five. Still had the rubber tits on them. He drove it straight from the dealership to the tire shop.

No clue, my 1st time trying them. If it was a vehicle that I actually cared about, I'd have been more picky. This thing- I just need something that holds air and lasts a couple years.

Yea, I don't see them very often anymore... im thinking they've been moved to another plant.

Sounds like my beater. I actually have Michelins on my Civic that are worth more than the car. I have a plug in one that I can't get to stop leaking so I just pulled the CO2 tank out of my crawler and keep it in the beater now. Screw buying new tires.

Can't you patch it from the inside?

It had Michelins on it with a legit 100k miles on them. That would been my 1st choice at replacement, but it's got 220k on it and I'm not spending it's equal worth on tires that would make it to 320k.

Cool. I'll probably just buy a set of Eldos then. Looks like I can get them with a discount code for about $800 shipped the door.

They do not appear to come in non bro sizing.
I was going to say the same... 33s on 18-24s only?
Big truck tires are right there. I got lucky and snagged 2 90% Bridgestone R213 steers from my mechanic for $450. Then proceeded to drop $3400 on 8 new Synergy drives. It was a deal because that was installed and balanced. Bridgestones through my co's national account would've been damn near 5 grand installed .
I saw this coming last yer and used the company's account to buy a set of drives for my F800. 11R22.5 open shoulder lug virgins, don't remember the brand, but only $13XX for all 4.

Same order today would likely run over $2k

you're in SC, the mexican tire shop will do it for $20.
You're presenting logic to a dumbass. For the last 3 months I continue to say I'm going to do it after work. Then I see something shiny and forget until the next day. So I roll down the back window, pull out the air hose, and pump it up.
