Major Bridge in Baltimore Collapses After Being Struck by Cargo Ship

is that what you would have brought in?

just hook your plow truck to it and drag it to shore. All you need is a few feet of chain.
the Liehberr CAL 64000 is I believe one of the largest capacity ship based cranes. But I could be wrong about that either way it has a 1700 Metric Ton capacity for lifting.

I have worked with and around a ton of those guys over the years and one thing stands out above all else. It don't matter if it's a Doctor, Engineer, Micro Biologist or a ditch digger, floor sweeper and the like. They all lie, lie through their teeth, they tell lies that are impossible and will still lie even when the truth would serve them better. I would ask a couple of the guys I know and am friendly why telling lies is their culture but I am sure they lie about it so why bother.

That's been my experience too. They will lie when they don't even have to.

2015 I was working in Dubai on a boat ran completely by Indians. Only non Indians we us, the dive crew. We had a black ship incident and were instantly sent to the dock to figure out what caused it. They really don't want black ships in their oil fields.
You could ask the same guy what happened 3 different times and get 3 different answers. Dubai Petroleum finally told the boat to fuck off and ban them from ever returning to their fields because they couldn't be trusted. Took 2 months to lease another boat and get back to work. This was on a 1.5 billion dollar job.

Annnnd, tomorrow I'm flying to Bahrain for a job in Saudi. The boat is owned by an Indian company, but I've been told the vessel crew is a mix of Indians and Ukrainians. On top of that, my flight from Houston to Frankfurt is on a Boeing 777. This should be fun.:shaking:

Dibs on your stuff.:flipoff2:

No way Slander says I'm going to live.:flipoff2:
When I was working at United, it was the most reliable aircraft in the fleet with the highest dispatch reliability. Especially the ones on the USA to European routes as that's where the $$$ is. They would put the shit old ones on the Hawaii route or transcon routes where they didn't really care if it got there or not on time lol

whats wrong with black.ships?

Videos of the team cutting the bridge apart while on those JLGs. They are all harnessed in to the JLG. What happens if that thing ends up in the water and they are attached to it?

They should be wearing life jackets, not harnesses.

True, but availability trumps lift capacity.
If they could get a bigger crane in quickly (and it would help) they would.
If they are bringing this one it's because they calculate that cutting it into more pieces is faster than waiting for a bigger crane, the bigger crane won't fit where they need to go, or the bigger crane is on a project where the fines for pulling it are higher than the bonus for clearing the bridge sections.

Assuming that a "black ship incident" refers to the ship losing power unexpectedly, the clipboard holding safety guys (and everyone else I assume) take offense to a ship suddenly losing power and having it come back without a GOOD explication in the middle of an oil field, especially one that has (or can have) divers on the bottom.

I was joking around.

Probably because you are far more likely to fall/get bucked out of the jlg and hit God knows what on the way down to the ground/water/barge below than the jlg falling over into the water.

Rulebook says to use harnesses, not common sense.

You don't wind up getting a cut of money stolen from all of us at gun point by asking questions even if they're good ones.

Personally I'd be wearing a life jacket on top of whatever else if I were fucking around over water.

Edit: Figuratively on top, not literally on top.

You are generally a hell of a lot more worried about getting yeeted out of a man basket than you are about the basket ending up in the water.
