Yeah that is what I would do too. It’s just odd he never got around to doing the lights. And there is random Romex just sticking out of the wall like that in multiple places. I’ll take some pics in the morning as I am going around making my list.

Maybe he liked lots of outside lights! I have had customers like that one guy wanted to control every outside light from every outside door, this was precomputer controlled lights so there were 2, 4 gang switches at every door!

Possibly. I’m going to smart home the place. All smart light switches and such.part of my task tomorrow is to count up all the switches in the place and see how many I need to order. Server rack is due to arrive Friday so I can start setting that up and routing cat6 everywhere.

So I had too much on my mind to sleep much. Woke up early and got to it. I had just grabbed a notepad and started walking around the property a bit when a black Chevy Silverado pulled up. Turned out to be the gentleman we bought the house from, he was dropping off our mail. Apparently he has the 1571 address still on his shop which explains why we don’t have a mailbox. Suggested I shoot over to the town office this morning to see about getting a new address number assigned to the house. So that’s now on my to do list today as well.

After he left I started walking the house a bit and counting outlets, switches, and lights. I’ve got some work to do that’s for sure. Few outlets I tested showed an open ground or are wired incorrectly. I think I’m just gonna do what we did In CA and replace every single outlet in the house. It’s just easier that way and I will know they are wired correctly. I also found quite a bit of sketch. At least half of these exposed wires are hot. Others are on switches or are just ran with no switch installed at all. There are more than what I’ve taken pics of too.

Not bad, a days steady work as long as everything is correct. You have to start trouble shooting and all bets are off
 
Well, that escalated quickly. Stopped by the local John Deere dealer on my way to Home Depot for a mountain of electrical stuff. Got 50 new Tamper resistant outlets, covers, dozen new GFCI outlets, a fat pile of other shit, some fans, etc.

anyway, stopped into Deere to see about a mower. Only one they had in stock was a way overkill X738 4WD model with a 54” deck (which is the deck size I wanted anyway). I was looking at a X380 online. Yeah, bought the X738. Then I also wound up buying the only enclosed cab tractor they had on the lot too. A 65 HP, 4WD, turbo diesel 5065E. And just for good measure, I also bought a Stihl MS251 chainsaw as well.

tractor and lawn mower will be dealer prepped and have the mower deck put on and both will be delivered early next week.

Yep. Took a bit of willpower not to pull into the ATV and SXS dealership up the road between Deere and Home Depot.

Yeah he said that was the full blown retail price on it. But since I bought that, and the mower, and the chainsaw he gave me a hell of a deal on the whole package. Still a good chunk of change though.

Then again, what he paid for all that stuff is probably what he paid in taxes between 2019 and 2020. :flipoff2:

Yeah, that’s the one I avoided the urge to pull into after the Deere dealer. Wife wants a golf cart to putt around the property on. I said we should get a UTV instead. More functional and versatile.
 
In other news, took a break from replacing outlets and hopped on the Jeep to go tour the property a bit. Was cruising thru the fields when I discovered they are COVERED in wild blueberries! Also found a mess of raspberry bushes and some that I’m not sure if they are raspberry or blackberry as nothing on them is ripe enough to tell at the moment.
