What's new

Hurricane Milton

I'm not saying I'm sold on it 😂 but I keep on hearing about them. but it's the same type of conspiracies as the Hawaii fires. Apparently the land the was hit the hardest in the Carolinas is wanted for a lithium mine. And st Pete where it's probably about to level is supposed to be one of those 15 min city's.

And for the earlier comments name one storm, even a tropical storm that formed near Mexico and went west to east.
You can't, it just doesn't happen.

Perfect example of why not to watch the news, She clearly is just repeating what she is told and has no idea what she is saying.

I am on the top floor (17) of the hotel in Orlando. I still think it is BS I am here, but I am and stuck here. So might as well give updates as the storm comes in. Currently nothing, flight in was empty but smooth (last time I was on such an empty flight was CA to NJ when Covid first started stateside), I was expecting some turbulence from the storm but nope, even a nice smooth landing. Light, enjoyable breeze and otherwise perfect night. Hotel is busy, with lots of dogs (hilton is pet friendly) most dogs are doing good, but some are not happy with elevator life and other dogs!

Local shopping center is all open and active, as of now seem to be access to the normal items. Chinese food store has a sign up saying they will be open during normal business hours through the storm. Do they ever close ?:lmao:

Currently the show stuff is delayed until Friday. If it happens it will be a shit show and not worth it. They should have called it already, but feel they are playing games to not refund $$$, similar happened during peak of covid. They made vendors drop out then refused to refund...

Will see what tomorrow brings.

Our own “Man on the street” reporter :grinpimp:

How are you set for power backup and comms when SHTF?

Have enough beer Dan, or do I need to send a shipment of my apple pie down to you to keep you happy?
picked up a few cases and some beam earlier, luckily walking distance to liquor store from hotel. Even got an umbrella! ha prob stock up again tomorrow depending how the forecast goes. Though apple pie does sound good if I make it back to NJ ha

I have two lap tops, and two battery cells that are charged up, as well as a hot spot. Wife reminded me earlier I should have brought my m18 power spot, does 120v and usb charging/power. Dumb-ass moment for not packing it as I have a few m18 batteries with me. Not sure if hotel is on gen sets, but the convention center claims to have not lost power in 25years, and never flooded. It is walking distance and once I check in tomorrow I should have access to it.

Here in Orlando I think it will be good, the west coast still seems like it is going to see the bigger hit.

Going to bed- see what tomorrow brings.

We already have a lithium mine. It's right on top of the very narrow "lithium mining" belt. Albemarle has a lease for that one, Toyota has a new enormous battery plant here as well as another company.

I have family in Sarasota and was supposed to be there for Christmas this year.

Looking like this is going to be a direct hit on Sarasota:eek:

Did you bring your water wings?

I do not envy you bud. Stay safe.

So yesterday I heard that it dropped down to a 4 and then went back up. It’s probably happened before, but I’ve never heard of a storm getting weaker over water. Angelo maybe incorrect about storms going that way, but it doesn’t happen often.

By the way, Angelo, are you staying? My brothers are staying in Orlando, but there’s a lot more land between the coast than you have. When Michel hit me, I was 50 miles from the coast and it was definitely serious. I would stay again, but make sure you are in a good building that doesn’t have giant trees on the windward side.

Ryan halls forecast videos from earlier in the week does a pretty good job explaining why that is happening. Basically there is a shit load of upper level wind shear in that area leading to some weakening.

It also brushed Mexico which helped.

We were in Jamaica for Berel. The mountains really kept the north side winds down to manageable levels. The south side got hit pretty bad.

My cousin is seriously concerned about storm surge at this point. Her house is an 8min walk to the intercoastal. Boca to Anna Maria is in the 10-15 surge zone currently. She said that would put 3-5ft of water in her house.

up to 931mb so maybe it will weaken.
