I think this is the "fake inflation" phase of the scamdemic.
oh theres no 'us guys' every job i've worked for people it was for 1/4 or less of billed to customer. i work for myself now. i wont ever have employees. That's the way to go, all our guys are subs but we take really good care of them. Trouble is finding peoples skilled enough to do good work but not smart enough to start their own company lol. It happens with a few guys every couple years but they come back quick when they realize people don't always pay on time. Their guys get pissed cause there's no money coming in weekly etc...
What do you guys do?
Lol my wife was giving me a sales pitch just last week about this. She wants to start a reverse head hunting company. A company would hire her to find a job for a employee that isn’t fitting in but they don’t have the documentation or want the liability of firing that person. She would get paid when they put their 2 weeks in.It's something that desirable employees are given to try to retain them. The ones they're trying to convince to quit, well, they give them nothing. After all it's often way easier from the HR perspective if the bad employees just quit, rather than having to fire them.
Have you not got your annual raise? Oh, no? Well, this is awkward.
I think that much like issues with ammo supply in the last few years, its due to supply chain disruptions keeping people from getting it at their normal places and those who can get it, buying all they can, then marking it up for resale (rather than costs going up enough to double the price of it).I think this is the "fake inflation" phase of the scamdemic.
I am seeing it everywhere.
Too bad you're on the wrong side of the country. I'd gladly stare at a puddle on weekends to make close to that kind of money and access to a good drops pile.oh theres no 'us guys' every job i've worked for people it was for 1/4 or less of billed to customer. i work for myself now. i wont ever have employees.
i do hire guys from time to time thou and if they aren't worth half or more what i'm chargeing out i dont use them. i need help and i dont have time to babysit.
recently had a guy help weld for 2 weekends, before he starts i asked what he wanted an hour, he said "35, but i'd really like to be at 40". well in four days over 2 weekends, he put in just over 40hrs, and he did a great job. i thought he was going to levitate when i paid him well well over 50/hr, he was at the end of working 11hrs for me and dog tired and beat... then he wasn't. happy as hell! i guess he didn't know what to think when i just told him i'll pay him what he's worth.
i really like rewarding guys with great attitude that do good work. now i have great help that wants to be here, and i dont have to worry about dumbfuckery. its great i even took most of saturday off and played in the front yard with the kids while he was out back just weld weld welding. even got him lunch and he didn't stop ever to take more than a bite and then straight to it.
good help is so hard to find out here. this guy, i've got booked almost every weekend for the next 3 months now. he insists he wont but i know he will burn out and drop some time. he'll need to, cant spend that much time away from your family. he works 10's at his day job, and that on top of about a 3.5hr commute depending on traffic.Too bad you're on the wrong side of the country. Basically be a personal head hunter for a employee a company wants to get rid of. I just laughed and was like that’s a good plan in theory but gonna be really hard to make happen irl.
Isnt paying the fines or dealing with the fallout cheaper in the long run then the money lost keeping them on board?I could actually use that right now. Have one I need rid of, but can’t fire.

That is only part of the risk. The fired employee can sue for loss of position and that can drag on for years and dollars.Isnt paying the fines or dealing with the fallout cheaper in the long run then the money lost keeping them on board?
That’s why she thinks there would be a market for this service. If she can get them to quit only then would the company pay her reverse recruiting fee. She has a few employees where she works that need to go but they don’t have the documentation/don’t want the risk of them suing/claim discrimination ect.Not usually. If they sue the legal costs add up fast, plus a potential settlement or judgement. It's similar to workman's comp. It's cheaper in the long run to pay a field guy released on "light duty" to sit in the office and do nothing all day until his full release.

Yeah that’s what I said lol.Seems like it would work short term. You would have difficulty over time once you place all these trash people into other company's and they tell you to fawk off next time.
Maybe hire escorts to build sex harrasment claims, and encourage resignation over the potential for being fired for it. Could be fun, seems like it works in politics.
We got one of them. Super brown noser, thinks he's boss, and likes to make everyone's business his own.I could actually use that right now. Have one I need rid of, but can’t fire.

I was waiting for lumber prices to drop now for 2 years... and it seems to just climb and climb. I have to put on a porch overhang this month as I won't have much time to do it before the monsoons start in the next couple months. Holy hell...
10- 2x6x8's
6- 4x4x8's
4- 5/8 4x8' plywood
2- 2x6x16's

$589.00
Da fawk?! That would have been around 300 bucks 2.5 years back.
And I still need a few more 2x4's and 1.5" stock for rails yet.
My nephew was doing hvac , was good enough that in less than a week after being hired they had him in a van running service calls solo.hell yeah. i see a 1:4 ratio all the time. boss 100 everyone else 25 or less.
i hate seeing less than 1:2. i know its not the way... and why everyone i've ever hired has their own business now. we all work together now as independent contractors. i dont know how that works on a big scale but its been fun so far. i win some, and i dont win as much, learn, on others.
Hardwoods don't seem to be skyrocketing like doug fir or pine.... maybe we start building with oak? Fawk!I feel your pain. The lean-to I’ve been putting off building went from about $600 to $1,250.
If I've decided I'm not gonna build my garage until next year why shouldn't I throw the money I was gonna spend on block and concrete into I-bonds? There's zero chance I want to touch the money in the next year.
