Fasting - Who does it?

Animal based diet?

18 isn't a big deal, it's those next 5 and possibly the knowing that you aren't going to eat for another 5 hours.
Pretty much beef and eggs, some pre made ground beef and eggs scrambled (with non sugar hot sauce, I like sriracha) for lunch and get home from work and cook a steak. ususlly A big fatty steak, keeps me full and satisfied till the next day at lunch, not even a big cut, like a 10 oz sirloin with horseradish for flavor, wouldn’t even call it a diet, I really enjoy it and zero cravings.

Are you eating a low carb diet when you're eating? Orders of magnitude easier to fast when you're low carb.

In the words of my old man who's lost 250# doing this, 'I fast to lose fat, I eat low carb so I can fast easily.'
I don't know :homer:. I just try to eat portions of food.

Unhealthy high carbohydrate foods include pancakes, soft pretzels, bread products, ready-to-eat cereals, milkshakes, ice-cream, cereal bars, cake, pies, muffins, sweetened canned fruits, sugary drinks, fruit juices, corn chips, potato chips, and candies. Healthy high carbohydrate foods include whole grains, beans, vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, and seeds. The daily value (DV) for carbohydrates is 300 grams. For more healthy high carbohydrate choices see the list of healthy high carb foods.

I don't eat or drink much of any of that^^

I like the feeling of fitting into smaller clothes of putting on pants that used to be tight but now slip off while zipped and buttoned.
I'm not so into fasting (low carb, dirty keto), but this is a great feeling. I kept some clothes for dirty work and feel like a kid trying on my dad's clothes at times. Great feeling.

So somehow i managed to keep it going through the weekend and into this week. Im offically past the first week of 23hrs a day fasting.

Ive lost like 2 lbs which doesnt seem worth it but im gonna keep at it for now.

I'm going to dial it back to 18-20 hours, that seems manageable for me. 23 is is too hard on me I'm struggling to make it through the work day without dragging ass.

Its the 2hr drive home for me and then walking in the door past the fridge with an hour to go thats hard for me. Im struggling but going to try to knock back the million calories im eating in my hour.

162.8 this morning

That's probably my biggest issue too, the million calorie "dinner", sometimes portions don't work out so well. I was back to 153 yesterday.

Lunch will probably just be a pickle.

I knew a girl that wanted me to do it to her but i just couldn't mentally get into it !

oh fasting ...... never mind

Down to 161.8 this morning so its working. But then I went to breakfast with my kid and dad and ate half a breakfast burrito. It actually was hard to eat and now my stomachs upset. Oh well, back to the diet.

I was talking about this with a friend. He says that fasting makes the metabolism slow down and that it is better to eat frequent small meals.

I tend to go 18 yrs without eating most days.

Any thoughts?

Totally fell off since whenever I posted this and back to 167ish. Starting again tommorow and going to hit it hard.

Really its just a matter of eating less calories then you burn. It doesnt mater how you go about it, whatever way is easiest for you. There is no top secret miracle... just math.

correct but if you looks at real food volume vs process crap, you quickly realize how people get so fat.

was doing really well eating 90% meats, fruits, veggies, fats and essentially no processed carbs until thanksgiving week, just smashing pies. commuting 4.5hrs a day right now, somehow ive been able to not boredom eat garbage.

For sure, without a doubt. It's far more difficult to eat 2,000 calories of chicken breast than 2,000 calories of cheese cake. But he's correct. It's calories in, calories out, people just get married to whatever dieting system happens to work for them and think there's something special to it because it happens to work for them.

Pick your misery.

That said, the same ol shit that everyone already knows - high protein, low fat diets is the staple way of mitgating hunger and providing the correct balance of nutrients needed to sustain the life style and not fall off the bandwagon.

I am kinda doing IF right now. I eat around 8 at night when my kid gets back from hockey practice, and don't eat until about 1130 the next day for lunch.

Been trying to keep to less than 20 carbs a day.

I have now lost 40 pounds since September 11th when my kid left for Marine Corps bootcamp. So I lost that in about 2 and a half months. 5 more pounds to reach my goal of 230.

Its been all diet. Have not started exercising AT ALL.

Seems like I can eat rice cakes and water or 4 Big Macs and a liter a cola and nothing changes.

I eat breakfast... sandwich and maybe fruit, lunch... maybe a sandwich or something like chicken and rice, snack of something like carrots, celery, grapes.

That's it.

I eat once every 24 hrs probably 5 to 6 days per week for about 5 yrs. You get used to it. Sometimes forget to eat completely if I'm busy on a project. Why are yall in the 150s and 160s trying to lose weight? Hell I'm a skinny dude, and weigh 180 lol.

As others said it’s just math and portion control which I suck at. I have been skipping breakfast other than coffee w. Flavoured creamer and I have tried to exercise more this month. I managed to clock around 4hrs on the rowing machine for November.

I was 197 when I started around mid-October? I’m down to 189 now and my 34 waist pants fit loose. I seem to be stuck at this weight the past two weeks because I’m not watching what I eat.

My sales job is a lot of road time. Sometimes 3k steps a day or less 😳

I’ve spent 4 days this month reloading a store slugging brake rotors so I’m putting that down as exercise. I can really feel those 9-10k step days. Been going for walks with both kids in the stroller as well to the grocery store to get moving which I sure helps as well

5’9 here. Would love to get back to 175lbs. I was 165lbs in high school on the rowing team but I don’t think I can get there.

Bro Science

It does help to eat around workouts if your barbell training.

What makes the metabolism slow down is prolonged calorie deficits

well my fat ass got back over 250. so i skipped breakfast and lunch yesterday. and to tell the truth it is no big deal to me. i still drink in the evenings. i really need to get back to 215ish and 33s. but it will never truly be low carb till i dump the booze.

What do you do for work? I'm at least on my feet, but probably shoveling, throwing pipes around and carrying 50lb sacks of mud for 8+ hours.
Yesterday was 12 hr fasting, broken with a poptart 1 pickle and a handful of grapes. (Except for the 48oz of coffee and the 12oz redbull for breakfast)

Because I still have a gut lol, that's all that I'm trying to get rid of.

Quite honestly I could work harder, longer when I was over 200 than where I am now :homer:.
