Fasting - Who does it?

5’8 171.3. Weighed myself twice just to be sure. I could skip a meal or two.

With the exception of two weeks worth vacations I’ve been successful in keeping my diet significantly cleaner. The fasting has kinda naturally morphed into a 18/6 daily. Last weekend I went 25 hours without putting effort into it, it weird not being hungry till 2-3 in the afternoon.

I got back in the gym a couple weeks ago, and I’ve committed to 4-6 hours a week of “something” there which is better than sitting on my ass.

Weighed in at 259 this morning.

15hrs in this morning… 18hr is totally doable.

I’ve had one morning coffee thus far and it hasn’t induced a 💩 yet which is uncommon.

I had some blood work done on Thursday and there are significant signs of inflammation in my blood. But no further diagnosis. My doctor does want to have a colonoscopy performed and I’m only 35

Watch that, and get ahead of it if possible. I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 40, I hadn't had any blood work prior.
When they did the blood work they couldn't believe how high the inflammatory markers were and how I was functioning.

I tried fasting, getting to autophagy stage, hoping it would help my autoimmune issue. I didn't notice any relief.

Posting in this thread and reading everyone's progress motivated me this Summer, in July I hung up the 6-12 IPA's I drink on the weekends and holee fuck am I getting vascular in new places... Still eating ice cream and losing weight. It has been a hard working few months and I seem to have put on some mass, will get back in the squat cage when snow flies but I wager this is the strongest I have ever been.

Small calorie deficit everyday, cycle carbs and fats, protein high, no processed foods, 1 cup coffee in morning, and I have not worked out since March. One thing to remember, we drink a lot of calories, fruit juices are a big problem for me I can chug OJ like no ones business, WATER ONLY!!!!!

I wager I am 190lbs right now, I weigh on the same scale every 6 months, I will know in November.

Keep it up, you can do it!

It is a lifestyle... 2013: 275/280 lbs

I did a 72hr fast over the weekend, which ended last night. Felt really good doing it and lost a little bit of weight. Going to continue with intermittent fasting. The fast led me to not consuming caffeine as I only drank water, so I am also going to see how long I can stay off anything with caffeine in it as I love energy drinks and sodas, that has been a hard transition to make, but I woke up this morning before my alarm went off feeling pretty rested. So if I can maintain that instead of feeling exhausted all the time then I will be super happy.

Typically do a 12-14 hour fast but 24 hours isn’t uncommon. Anyone doing 24+, how is your physical activity? A 72 hour fast has to be done by someone just laying in bed not putting any effort in on life. :flipoff2:

i did three days, it was really not that big a deal. i was 260 and said this has to go. it sure is cheap loosing weight. im 242 in work boots fully dressed. i need to drop 20 more but i drink too much.

Yep, the amount of money saved in bullshit bad for me food 2-3× throughout the day really adds up.

How's it going?

I'm starting to feel really wore out around 1pm, myself.

Brain fog and exhaustion was hitting me hard yesterday but doing better today.
My eating time is
4-5pm and get to bed time is 630ish and ive been having a hard time falling asleep with the energy boost the food is giving me.

Ive been having a bottle of either unsweetened or raspberry lipton ice tea around 2pm wich really seems to help.

My GF and I have been doing the Keto diet with intermittent fasting for 8 weeks now. I have done several 24 hour fasts in that time, but only once every couple of weeks. I've lost 20 lbs since we started. I'm at 234 right now and I want to get down to 225, which is still pretty fat (I'm 6'1"), but I'm comfortable at that weight. It's been nice getting back into some clothes that weren't fitting 2 months ago.

I eat between 6-7 and try to get in bed between 8-9. Same thing I have trouble falling asleep but I also consume copious amounts of caffeine each day :homer:.

I like the feeling of fitting into smaller clothes of putting on pants that used to be tight but now slip off while zipped and buttoned.

for me fasting is easy , i try to fast once a week, its easy after a while, just like being on a schedule, i dont know about health benefits , but it works for me

After realizing the standard American diet was a cancer causing hoax I went on all animal based diet a few months ago. Fasting for 18 hours a day is incredibly easy.

Animal based diet?

18 isn't a big deal, it's those next 5 and possibly the knowing that you aren't going to eat for another 5 hours.

Are you eating a low carb diet when you're eating? Orders of magnitude easier to fast when you're low carb.

In the words of my old man who's lost 250# doing this, 'I fast to lose fat, I eat low carb so I can fast easily.'
