Fasting - Who does it?

I would start but the brisket I cooked last night deserves 3 meals today…..and tomorrow.
I’ll be fat until then.

I'm done at 48 hours. I'm going to do some research and come back at it prepared and realistic now that I know it's definitely doable.

Wasn't bad at all.

Did 12/12 or 13/11 the last week and a half. I'm planning 14 hours a day this week. I'm creeping up to 16/8.

Right now I am at 14.5 hours today. Might eat or 15 or just jump to 16/8. only planned on 14.

side note, I did 14/10 this weekend on accident because I just wasn't hungry, realized it 14 hours in.

Ok, I've done 3 x 48 hrs and a 24 hour. I'm picking up on a theme here afterwards for about 12 hours after you've completed a fast, if you even think about thinking about trusting the slightest urge of the thought of the idea of farting, you'll shit all over yourself.

I've NEVER shit myself so many times. Good thing I work from home.

:flipoff2:

I feel better and I can't put my finger on exactly what it is. Clearer maybe.

I started overeating after the fast, early lunch style. I learned not to do that. Felt terrible stuffing myself, I was thinking that I needed all this food. Since I stopped that the last few days I am eating 2 meals a day and totally content with it. I dont go to bed hungry, I dont wake up hungry, its weird.

Yesterday my kid brought home my favorite chips. I devoured too much before dinner. My snack sucked so I felt like shit at dinner. I wasn't even hungry then, just wanted them.

I guess I am starting to learn what my body doesn't like based on how I feel after and what not to do. I dont know if I can get to 16/8 regularly. But I am fine with 14-15 hours.

Nice man. You are really getting it.

Been going strong on the M-W-F 42hr fasts and getting in 4-6 days of 45-90 minutes on the bike since January 3rd. Bike is getting a bit better, I'm almost back to as slow as I was in October when I originally started slacking. I can almost button my jeans now!

One thing that's been different is I'm really fucking excited to eat on Tues and Thurs. Been pretty good to have an idea of what real hunger is, stomach has shrunk up some too so I'm not eating too much on my eating days. Probably getting in right around 3500-4k calories of mostly meat. Fasting days I've been cutting back in the cream in my coffee to only two tablespoons and instead have had a scoop or two of protein powder. One right after working out and another after dinner hot with cocoa powder. Found it really helps with hunger.

Finding myself more cold than usual, especially on fasting days. Thinking it's related to not having any carbs basically and also getting back in some shape. Resting heart rate has dropped from 72 to 60 or so.

Feeling lazy today and felt like posting would at least motivate me to get on the trainer even though it's not raining out. :flipoff2:

If i go too long without eating i can get weak and have a headache. Is this something you have to adjust to when starting to fast. If so, how did you guys adjust to it?

Go low carb/keto for two weeks before you try it. Get extra salt and electrolytes in while trying to fast. Drinks a shit ton of water. Don't be a bitch. :flipoff2:

Maybe see a doctor and make sure you're not fucking also.

Sounds like you’re doing great however I don’t believe you want any protein powder when trying to lose weight it’s purpose is to help tiny people gain weight to build mass . I would think it would be working against your goal . Correct me if I’m wrong !

Upping protein and cutting back on fat purposely. Trying to artificially induce a 'rabbit fever' situation to burn more fat. Basically trying to trick my body into burning more fat for energy but not shutting down my metabolism.

I'm down to 295 from 365 last sept.

I noticed I'm loosing muscle mass, I became a cardio bunny, 45min. 6X a week. I was trying to let my body heal and stay off the weights. Time to get back at it, I'll drop the cardio to 15 min. just to warm up and then hit the plates

They make both kinds. Protein powder that's pretty much just straight whey/casein.
Also weight gainer types loaded up with fat and or carbs to get the calories up.
I've never had an issue dropping weight utilizing something lean like 2 scoops gold standard double chocolate to keep my protein up.

So, I'm still @ 295 but I've gone from a tight 52 waist to a loose 46/44

I am back! I fell off the wagon after a month or so last time. I did not give it the months it needed I think.

Looking for the 16/8 lifestyle for the rest of the summer and we will see what it brings.

I stopped for the last year or so but half assed started again maybe a month ago, my schedule was too random and chaotic so I had to eat when I could not on any kind of schedule. Oddly I only gained 10-15 lbs back in that time which I didn't expect, I fully thought I'd gained more.

Its been loosly part of my no exercise weight loss plan for the last few months. I try not to eat after 5ish pm and dont eat agin till break at work at 10am. When I do eat at break its something small like a tuna and crackers snack pack. Around 2 ill grab something on the way home like a protein shake or jerky, and then have dinner at 4-5. Im down roughly 25lbs since starting this.

I cut out carbs.... was 198 clocked in at 171 this morning my BP is happier too

I'm retired, so I really only eat once a day in the evenings. So a daily 22-24 hour fast, sort of.
Breakfast is a large cup of coffee that I sip on throughout the day. Might eat a spoonful of peanut butter once or twice if my blood sugar is out of wack.
Been trying to hit the gym in the evenings to get back into shape and loose the Dad Bod. Might start adding a protein shake during the day, to help build muscle.

I've been doing OMAD keto for about 2 months and down 32 lbs. It seems to help keep the hunger at bay, no problem getting through each day until I eat supper.

Started intermittent fasting oct of 2021 and down 50lbs. I have resolved several health issues in the process. Started doing extended fast last week, plan on 48 starting yesterday at 6pm. I’ll see how it goes.

I do OMAD and low carb, lots of steak and eggs, i dont exercise enough so this WOE helps maintain my weight

When I lost all my weight, I wouldn't necessarily fast, but I was an almost 400 pounder consuming no more than 800 calories a day, and exercised an hour a day.

I lost 100 lbs in 94 days.
Fasting can be really useful for shocking your body out of plateaus and such.
I can also appreciate forcing yourself to suffer through hunger while remaining functional, sharp, and not too assholeish.

I don't eat breakfast or lunch. Soooo, I guess most days I would "fast" for 20-ish hours. Unless coffee counts.

Week 2. Was at 15 hours last week. Doing 16/8 this week. It’s not fun or easy but not horrible. Yesterday was one meal by happenstance.

Not overeating the first meal is key.

I’m holding all judgment till end of august.

Still doing OMAD Keto (for weightloss). More like ketovore I guess. Carbs under 10 TOTAL, usually only a few net. 1200-1500 cals in my suppertime one meal a day. A tsp of cream in my morning coffee, that's it for calories the rest of the day. Zero keto treats, no fake sugar in anything, drink water, iced tea, coffee and dry red wine or whiskey almost every night. I'm down 35 lbs in 2 months now, from 281 starting weight. The OMAD has helped my appetite, I am simply not hungry until 4pm and I eat at 5 if I can.

Is it normal that carbs make me feel like shit? Full, too full, I don’t want breads, pasta, beer during my 8 hour period? I want meat, whiskey, veggies, salt but not chips
