Fasting - Who does it?

I'd pass out. 14 hours (awake) is about as long as I can go without getting the shakes.

I've been drinking a Athletic Greens supplement every morning and fixing a 5 cup coffee that lasts me all day and then eat dinner. I've lost about 12 lbs so far in a month.

Master Cleanse!! A 14 day fast!! I only did it to lose flab to ride a century on a bicycle...

Anyway ~
Buy senna tea from health food store
Cayenne pepper
Fresh limes or lemon (bottled is fine)
Maple syrup @ Canadian or grade B

To start, make sure you have access to a toilet!

Make & drink the Senna (herbal laxative tea) before bedtime...

In morning, mix 1/10 teaspoon Cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons of citrus juice, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup in 16oz of water. This formula is your go-to- drink up to 10 - 12 daily.

Make another herbal laxative tea to drink late morning or midday. If bowel movements stops/slow down, discontinue this part.

Continue this fasting diet for 2 weeks. Don't neglect exercise either. And don't cheat...

At the end of fast, gradually eat liquid foods like soup, yogurt, applesauce, etc. Totally up to you if pigging out is in favor.

*Disclaimer ~ take this fasting routine at your own risk-

I'd rather just drink a cup or two of bone broth and coffee while I'm fasting. Or just eat meat and nothing else. No need for the laxative on with those protocols, you'll be explosively pissing out your ass for the first week. :flipoff2::laughing:

Have been intermittent fasting since 2013 following the lean gains model. The first 2-3 years I was diehard committed. Now I simply eat dinner, and know when to stop eating. I drink beer on the weekends.

My high was 285 in 2013, my low was a sickly looking 175 in 2015. Settled in around 185 and have bounced around but stayed under 200 since.

A death in the family caused about 9 months of relapse, it was shocking how quick the weight flew off when I got back at it.

I hardly work out anymore, just work hard when doing chores all the time.

The best time to start is right now.

I was replacing windows on the second story of my house last night and got light headed. So, I broke my fast at 21.5 hours. I'm trying to stretch it out to 36 hours. But, I'm not going to be miserable. I'd rather stick with my ~21 hour fasts and know that I can do this than blow it with an unrealistic goal. I'll just keep pushing it out until I go through the day and bedtime without eating. Then It's just a wakeup away to get to 36.

I love fasting, but i shoot for an 18/6. Planning on getting back into it, usually start with a 14/10 and work my way back up. I am not completely over weight so I have to watch the calorie intake as well in those 6 hours. Biggest thing is not drinking when I'm doing it, I just get hammered lol.

I broke mine at 6:30 pm. Then I ate about 2 cups of brussel sprouts, 1/2 cup rice, and 6 oz of chicken. About 1/2 hour later I had 4 oz tilapia and about 1/4 head of steamed broccoli. GF made some protein balls, so I had a couple of them closer to bedtime. It feels like I overate, but calorically I really didn't.

Fasted dozens of times last year (24 hrs each time) but put that idea on hold this summer. Having a fat stash is a good idea now a days. Thats said im 6ft2 170.

48 hours done. My tinnitus got a lot worse the first day and settled back to it's new shitty level the 2nd day. I never felt hungry, I wanted to eat stuff but never felt like I needed too. Bummed it didn't change my hearing any. On a positive not I celebrated food by making and eating Gutter runners potato soup and drinking a beer...it was damn good.

Ive been doing 18/20 hr fasts 5 days a week for almost 6 weeks now, my caloric intake is on point. I do it for no other reason than I just feel better.
I need to go back to the gym though

Not sure that 48 hours of anything will fix anything else.

My tinnitus seemed to react favorably to Keto in the past. I wasn't expecting it to fix anything just looking for a positive sign. I was surprised it got so much worse day one. Stress triggers it so not eating may have signaled it. I will do it again, probably 24hr at a time every 1-2 weeks.

Fat loss is best on low carb and 36-42hr fasts. Ideally you eat in the morning for Fat loss.

I'm at least eating good lately, after the first of the year I'll get back on the fasting train with you weirdos! :flipoff2:

I understand the basic concept, I just don’t get why be uncomfortable like that when you can eat healthy and workout. What are the benefits over the basics. On the surface this seems like any other fad health thing.

It can also push those wanting to be leaner to where they want to be. A friend does it to keep his bodyfat lower so that he is always ready for a modeling shoot.

So its all about body fat percentage? I am open to it. Just want to hear the why, postive, and negative results. I trust the feedback here more than google, as I should.

If you're real fat you won't have the extra skin if you lose it with fasting. :flipoff2:

For me there is no discomfort about it at all. I simply am not hungry and go about my day doing stuff. Having been only eating 1x per day for a while now, I have to say that it does seem like a more natural state.
When I was eating morning, noon and night I had what I called my driving 'witching hour' which was between 2 and 5ish. I had to plan my trips to avoid driving during that time or I would fall asleep at the wheel. I just faded away and would not be able to keep my eyes open. I don't have that problem anymore. I feel awake and sharp from when I wake up til when I go to bed.

Anyone else in? Spent since Jan 3 this year hard low carb, mostly meat. Just got done with my first 36hr fast starting Sunday night to lunch today. Planning on doing M-W-F 36-42hr fast for a while and will probably do some longer ones too.

Tomorrow I'll start back on the bike for the first time since December. Goal for this year is to get to <240 with the better fitness on the bike. Also got to have a maintenance plan after I get there again.

I did intermittent fasting a couple years ago and dropped 75 lbs in 6 .on the or so doing nothing else. Ate like shit still, just changed the pattern and ate less candy and chocolate.

A year after stopping I'm still 50+ lost having stopped paying as close attention and eating more candy. Fixing to do it again and add some exercise into the mix to see where it goes.

I do a 14/10 intermittent fast, for the last 2.5 years. For the 4 years leading up to that I had been steadily gaining weight, from 32" pants being loose and comfortable, to 34" being very tight. Between 11am and 9pm I eat Just as unhealthy as before, in the same amounts, but have not gained any weight.
Starting working out pretty heavily last year. No weight loss, just everything Is now way more solid and less jiggly.

In high school I did a 20/4 intermittent for 2 years and went from 190# to 120#, which was way too far.
