What's new

Clarkson's Farm

So the idea was the barn they used was allowed to be what ever they wanted because it was pre-existing.

The 48 thing was kind of a blitz tactic. They sent in the notification/application on thurs after work, built it and functioning by sun before anyone with any sayso could get it stopped on monday.
If the barn was OK to modify...why would that be different in 2 days?

If they were doing things that were not allowed (farm track road), a successful restaurant opening isn't gonna change that. They flat said "FU" about the farm track permit- do they think the Council are gonna change their minds?

:confused::homer:

 Are you fucking kidding!!!?! All that BS about a "car park", and there's an RV park across the hedge? Wow. That council is even more full of it than I thought.

Holy shit did no one watch that episode. Its was so they couldn’t say it wasn’t viable. Not to say well its up and running you cant stop us.

I think the restaurant went in the shitty building in the field. Must be an old photo.
Thats the restaurant building for sure. Roof matches pre repair. But as stated above restaurant is done for good on the farm.

In case anyone is wondering he has owned the farm since 2008 but only took over in 2019

Did he close the restaurant or did he get shut down? It had to be tough to run a restaurant like that.

I think the time frame was engineered so the council couldn't issue an injunction against the use. They had to inform them of their intentions and the council could decide to tell them not to do it, but only if they did before they were operating.

So send the notification late night Wednesday after they're out of office. Probably didn't get too the email after lunch on Thursday, talk about what to do about it. Push the decision to Monday/Tuesday as no good public servant works on Friday or Monday if they can help it. Restaurants already up and running by the time they try to kill it off. :smokin:

They could’ve sent it on a Friday evening.

After all the shit those guys have talked on caravans and RV's over the years, the irony of his farm being next to a camping park makes me laugh a bit

Didnt season 1 have him doing a caravan commercial for them to get their blessing to make an entrance for the farm shop?:lmao:
That had to be painful for him.

But the big corporation farms get a HUGH percentage of those subsidies from my understanding talking to small farmers almost like the government is making sure big corporate farming takes over long term.
They do. They shouldnt but they do. Why would the Politicians cut the funding for their cash cows? Gotta get those campaign dollars somewhere.

but is the council concerned with the family farmers, or with people with wealth that bought rural properties to escape the peasants who are mad that there's traffic now?

People with wealth. Like Jeremy Clarkson? A rich celebrity playing at farming, outspending some local young farmer trying to get a start in life, just so he could make millions at a fake drama reality show? Do you really think Clarkson gives a shit about the couple hundred grand hes spending on his "farm"? Please, mothfuckle is making more per episode than hes spending per year on his farm. Hell he may just be leasing the farm for the show.

Having said that him putting a spotlight on the problems real local farmers face is aworthy cause. For the record the first part is just devils advocate. I dont know what the real situation is and the show is funny as hell.

I think that he's a nationalist that wants his country to be self sufficient, and he's trying to make a point.

I'm thinking 50% max, there's one scene with Clarkson, Caleb, Gerrold, and the farm guy where they're talking and Gerrold going off. Everyone looks at each other when Gerrold is done talking and Caleb says, 'right' then changes the subject.
You can understand the words he's saying, but the combination in which he's using them is a bit unique.

He's had the farm for years, Most of the offroad adventures through sheep fields from the old Top Gear were filmed there. He didn't start out on the right foot with the council though, Way back he blew up his house for TG, What wasn't said in the show was he wanted to remodel/expand it and they wouldn't let him due to it being a historic building. Well it got blown up and he built the house he wanted in its place. To bad he doesn't like America, he'd fit in well here.

Very well could be. I was just pointing out the irony of the rich people comments made by several people. Anybody who thinks hes doing any of this to make viable business' needs to step back and rethink. The whole thing is purely for the TV show. He very well may be using the show to make a point, and good for him if he is, but no part of the farm is intended to last or be profitable. Its all for the show.

As he was going into the footballer kitchen to make fire-paste, he mentioned that was where he'd taken his kid for years to play.

"This is where my boy used to play. Every Sunday I'd come and watch him for 8 years."

Yeah I didnt know. Like I said it was just a guess.

Don't think it's all about money.

Jeremy is just doing what he enjoys, producing entertainment content. Similar to musicians playing and writing.

We should said him an horonary "america fuck yeah!" Membership

I don't think you're wrong, but I also question that with as much shit as he talks about Brexit.
I think his beef with it is the planning of it, not the exit per say. I also get the feeling that he is trying to make a go of it and show people that real life side effect of some of this crap. He's repeatedly asked how normal people make this stuff work, alluding to the fact he can take the misses.

They had politicians on top gear regularly and bashed their idiotic car rules To their face. They simply don’t care.

He has owned the farm since like 2008 ans started running it in 19 when the guy the did it retired I think. I ammsre he is spending most of Amazons money but yea he is probably making stupid money for the show.

And yea its a very good thing he is doing showing how the real farmer just constantly gets kicked in the nuts for no dollars. I think it really opened his eyes to the reality of farming vs. the romance of owning a farm and living on a field of it and calling yourself a “farmer”

Jeremy Clarkson's farm shop has reopened to the public - and once again, the area has been plagued by huge queues and parking chaos.
The Diddly Squat farm shop has been closed over winter, but it reopened at the weekend, coinciding with the much-anticipated release of Clarkson's Farm season two.

Fans have flocked to the shop, bringing congestion to a country lane in Chipping Norton, near Chadlington in the Cotswolds.

On Sunday (12 February), cars could be seen parked on the grass verges into the farm after Oxfordshire County Council warned the public earlier this week to park 'safely and considerately' near the farm.
The council said on Facebook: "Don't park on the A361. It's just too dangerous. And please avoid parking on the verges of the narrow Chipping Norton Road as it causes damage.

Maps always uses the best recent image, which isn't always the newest. Google earth is funnier.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. While there's a bit of showmanship because the cameras are there, everyone seems genuine and the Kaleb kid really is great. I was laughing my ass off at the whole helicopter sequence at the end. "I've never been off the ground"
