Clarkson's Farm

That meeting he had with the other farmers regarding suppliers was eye opening for sure.

I wonder if the council's decision would've been different had they all attended with him to hear personal accounts of how it would help their situations as well. Sure they were trying to fuck him personally, but if they knew how bad they were fucking everybody else in the community to do it; maybe that would've changed things?

I had subtitles on, hoping to find out what he was saying. Nope.
<Unintelligible> :lmao:

Maybe, but its better this way. Show them for what they are. I hope they all face some well-funded opposition next election.

I hope the fans of the show obliterated them with calls, e-mails, show up in person at the meetings. Make these peoples lives hell.

but is the council concerned with the family farmers, or with people with wealth that bought rural properties to escape the peasants who are mad that there's traffic now?

They weren't concerned, that's for sure. They should be now.

It seems like all the complaints the citizens have, are directly caused by the council's decisions. If they don't like traffic, let the man build a parking lot to give the traffic somewhere to go.

standard government tactic.

create a problem, then use the outrage to accomplish your real agenda.
obviously the council doesn't want clarkson developing his farm into a business, because they don't want jeremey clarkson.

Who knows what the council's reasoning/agenda is for denying such obviously logical proposal(s), but yeah it's glaringly apparent they don't want Clarkson there.

I was glad to see that Jeremy didn't just spend $500K to appeal it; it's a chess game and they'd pull that again (and again) just to drain his resources until he quits.

 I love it!

The last couple episodes, I mentioned to my wife that "This kinda crap is what gets you a Killdozer!". Blocked access, overbearing zoning...

I also thought "If I was a big deal celebrity, I'd bring in some pressure from social media. Let's see what Jerkwater Council does with 700,000 angry emails." Then I went back to watching the globally distributed show about what asses they are. 😁
How about a lawsuit for stopping the only farm track they have stopped. It’s discrimination based on his celebrity status i bet he wins in court really quickly actually.

The subsidies in the USare similar in intent. Theyremeant to keep small farms afloat during bad years. Imagine if the small farms were allowed to go under. Everything would be owned by giant conglomerates and everything would be decided by bean counters instead of whats best for the land, crops, and everything else.
But the big corporation farms get a HUGH percentage of those subsidies from my understanding talking to small farmers almost like the government is making sure big corporate farming takes over long term.

sure, but how many resources do your pour into that fight?

this is how government wins. They know you'll win in court, but they literally don't have to spend their resources to defend themselves, they spend yours.
and then they just do it again, over and over until you can't afford to or don't want to fight them anymore.

big corporate farms can afford to hire someone to make sure they get every available dollar.

this is the same way that regulations kill small businesses. Giant corporate conglomerate can have an entire department dedicated to regulatory compliance, small business guy can't afford it.

Well it sounds like the town won and Amazon is done with Jermey anyways so I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.

i'd expect a season 3, since amazon's press release specifically stated they were done with him except for episodes already contracted.

and by that time if it continues to be a smash hit and everyone has forgotten about meghan markles feelers it may very well get renewed again.

edit:
and frankly I agreed with clarkson on that whole thing.

Leave the royal family, make a whole TV series and book about what horrible people they are, then demand that your children get their hereditary titles and benefits?
get fucked bitch.

One
Think they finished filming 3 but its not due to be released til next year.. no season 4 as of now..

Binge watched season 2... fantastic... Feel sorry for anyone dealing with that level of bureaucracy.
Of the fastest ways to open someone mind about the incompetent of government is to force them to work within government regulations for the people not the regulations for the Government.

This is my take as well, they are already shooting season 3, probably wrapping it actually. If season two does as good as season one and it’s been number one on prime video since it’s been released. I would be very surprised if they don’t renew it and then announce the the renewal during some soccer shenanigans so it goes unnoticed by British public.

Also looked at the reviews of the restaurants and store on maps, 50% or more are from people who just watched the show and haven’t visited either. That said seems to be overwhelming positive from those that do visit or eat.

They went with the classic reality show 'let's set a deadline to fabricate drama' thing at the end. But an enjoyable watch aside from putting big gov killdozer thoughts in my head. Free t-shirt for buying a $20 potato was good.

Right. I didn't get that. "If we get this tiny restaurant up and running in 48 hours, they can't tell us not to run it."

Huh? Did I miss something, or did they leave out how that makes sense?

The single afternoon of success also seemed like an abrupt and desperate attempt to close the show on an up note.

I think the time frame was engineered so the council couldn't issue an injunction against the use. They had to inform them of their intentions and the council could decide to tell them not to do it, but only if they did before they were operating.

So send the notification late night Wednesday after they're out of office. Probably didn't get too the email after lunch on Thursday, talk about what to do about it. Push the decision to Monday/Tuesday as no good public servant works on Friday or Monday if they can help it. Restaurants already up and running by the time they try to kill it off. :smokin:

They were allowed to repurpose the building that was there but they had to notify council..and then they needed to have it running before council stopped them from started, but once started they were ok.

I believe it was to avoid them saying it wasn’t viable. Not saying see we snuck it in you have to let me. But dont tell me this isn’t viable as it was a smash hit over the weekend.

I couldn’t find the restaurant google maps. Found the farm and his home. Even the farm shop was not shown but had a marker showing its invisible location.
Eta: And now the farm shop is back but no restaurant. But the farm shop now appears to have a propper gravel car park.

Boy, I wish all government worked that way. "Well, since no one was hurt over the weekend, I guess your new auto sear is fine."

So the idea was the barn they used was allowed to be what ever they wanted because it was pre-existing.

The 48 thing was kind of a blitz tactic. They sent in the notification/application on thurs after work, built it and functioning by sun before anyone with any sayso could get it stopped on monday.

I think the restaurant went in the shitty building in the field. Must be an old photo.

Just googled it. The council issued a close order and he originally appealed it but has since notified them in writting that he no longer wishes to proceed with that avenue of business.
