Clarkson's Farm

complete horse crap with the Badgers and TB. I know what would happen out here but we have miles of land with no one around.
There is a plot of land in rio vista ca that is unuseable because of some "fairy shrimp" or some such shit.

It was cattle and hay feilds then was potentialy/ bought by some land broker/housing contractor to build a large modern (late 80s/early 90s) homes on. Epa or some other group came in to do its evaluation and found some ridiculous insignificant insect and neutralized the land. No building, no farming, no anything, still have to pay taxes on it and owners liability for it. It has been for sale for 30 years because who the fuck would buy land you can literaly not use.

The only thing that happens is fire mait were they till 30-40' from the fence and mow it for grass land fire prevention. Which is ironic because it literaly destroying these dumb fucks bugs enviorment anyways.

The enviromentals will absolutely destroy you when given any power what so ever.

I’m not British so I have no dog in this fight but I agree with Clarksons , whatsername is a total Whiner .

She married into the richest family on the planet and didn’t wanna curtsy to the queen .
And then Anytime anyone said anything she didn’t like she claimed no one liked her because she was half black .

Newsflash ; no one likes you because you’re a whine’y **** even though you married into more money than anyone could ever spend

And then got $200 million from Netflix
. Just imagine if she had been all white instead of half white , Netflix would have given her even more , right ?
Probabaly another $309 million if she wasn’t half black .

i Wish the amazon, bbc, and every other production company would get their fucking heads out of their asses and watch this because weve got 100x to much garbage shows and not nearly enough of this.
I like that he is shining a bright spotlight on the local government issues. Now the show dropped these counselors are gonna be in for a rude awakening. It’s gonna be glorious.

We need more of these type shows that are entertaining to watch but also shows what the government is doing to the common person.

I haven't finished this season yet, but it's amazing each farmer was given $80k in subsidies. I'm kind of surprised Clarkson seems for it. They've definitely structured their business model to depend on it.

Lol you know nothing of farming. Most farming these days is not profitable at the prices the stuff they grow sells at.

Do I agree with the subsidies no. Would the world be a better place if the subsidies stopped and over half the farmers went broke and the ground went fallow no. This is one of those bad deal bad deal situations.

Same with the US, you know. Farmers depend on all flavors of subsidies. $80k/year seems like it’s within range for what we pay a medium sized family farm.

I don’t like it, either.

It also surprised me that he was so open about the name of his primary nemesis. Life is about to get hard on that guy.

I think that was the point. You play stupid games you win stupid prizes. I hope the shows fans make that guys life miserable. This needs to happen more with .gov employees. They need some pushback to slow the advancement of stupid laws.

The the police council wants lights to prevent theft. The environmental natzis want no lights so they can have a dark sky. I actually looked at the dark sky last night:homer: wtf.

Everyone knows that heavy regulation and subsidization from the government is the key to a competitive and dynamic industry. God forbid the free market was given a chance!

During the great depression it was the first time the federal government paid farmers to destroy cattle and burn crops, in an attempt to cause inflation (prices were plummeting at the time). This was at a time when people were legitimately starving. It was a complete clusterfuck from the beginning.

and never forget that the farmers getting trampled is what gave us the all powerful "interstate commerce" power of congress to regulate everything.

I agree the subsidies shouldn’t exist, but removing them with no ability to restructure your operations to fill in the gap is bullshit. I’m sure the subsidies weren’t all put in place in 1 year and they shouldn’t have been removed all at once.

I totally agree, but with a free market approach food prices would become extremely volatile. They would fluctuate like the gas price does.

Do I like subsidies no. However of all the money the .gov spends giving it to some of the hardest working people in the country isn’t a bad way to spend it, The subsidy money will be spent by the farmers immediately on stuff that is bought locally.

I feel these subsidies are better than 90% of the other discretionary spending the .gov does. Hey let’s give billions to an actor in Ukraine with no oversight of how the money is spent. :mad3:

You'd like to think so, but the woke, champagne socialist, soy latte sipping, vegan greenies on the council seem to get voted in time and again despite the issues they cause the local economy with their various small minded green policies. A couple of examples over the last couple of years include: low traffic "clean air" neighbourhoods (code for blocking off access to various sub major roads through the city leading to massive jams on the major routes and massive increases in miles traveled for the same journey), lowering most speed limits in the county by 10mph in the name of emissions and generally ploughing ahead with any remotely green policy or development regardless of local opinions, all the while approving multi hundred home developments on prime farmland or green belt providing the developers add a school or some "low cost" housing to the development. :shaking:

Farming subsidies are a big thing in the EU and a supposed to level the playing field allowing the poorer farmers to keep up with EU regulations and try keep things "fair" economically as they're all selling into the same market regardless of production costs.
Linkslide to a bit of reading on how it works here in Europe

I know there are farmers out there that take crazy fucking government money. We Rowcrop roughly 200 acres in eastern Kansas, only one 18 acre field has ever made 200 bushel corn so it is not terribly fertile. Without taking any government money except for their cover crop program which just pays for the seed to put the cover crop on, we are able to struggle by. That said it is a hobby farm for me. You could go on a couple of different government website and see who takes how much money just like you can for the PPP money. It’s funny to look around at all your neighbors and see who has a pretty big take

I agree on holding gov employees accountable for their mini-dictator behaviors. I thought that Nigel Featherbottom or whoever he named was a non-councilor, individual NIMBY type Karen. I don’t mind him being named, I was just surprised by it. I imagine there will end up being a lawsuit on it, but Clarkson has proved time and again he’s not afraid of that.

We need 1000x Clarksons in the spotlight. Him and the Jordan Petersons of the world highlighting government abuse and hypocrisy at huge personal cost—this is what a modern-day hero looks like. Just like Snowden, half the population thinks they’re the devil.

The subsidies in the USare similar in intent. Theyremeant to keep small farms afloat during bad years. Imagine if the small farms were allowed to go under. Everything would be owned by giant conglomerates and everything would be decided by bean counters instead of whats best for the land, crops, and everything else.

 I love it!

The last couple episodes, I mentioned to my wife that "This kinda crap is what gets you a Killdozer!". Blocked access, overbearing zoning...

I also thought "If I was a big deal celebrity, I'd bring in some pressure from social media. Let's see what Jerkwater Council does with 700,000 angry emails." Then I went back to watching the globally distributed show about what asses they are. 😁
