On the lighter duty side, but yea off a log or chip truck I believe.
Those splines are 2.5". Dont see that shaft break very often. kinda odd

This is the only other shaft I can remember that broke.

I think sometimes, its just time for that part to let go... 99% of the time they will break off the tube or tear out the ujoint

well my dana 60 front gave up last weekend, low pinion... i think i will need to adjust my driving style. i think the 5.3 total reduction in tcase and full throttle launching with the tired LS is hard on ****. this is my front drive shaft and ring&pinion.... front shaft is just twisted... yikes... we think the ring gear let go first....but hard to telll...

Was just reading a bunch of opinions on the gear install tech group on FB and pretty much the consensus was to run 85w-140 at least in wheeling rigs.
Just curious cause your set up is very similar to mine. 5.3, with Doubler. Low pinion dana 60. I run 85w-140.
I don't often do 1st gear double low throttle drops or clutch dumps. 2nd gear double low lots but that's only 86:1 for me.
