What's new

Blue Jeep build

That's the way to go for sure. I play with air force experimentsl crap now, it's way better work than being on subs. But I do miss the water.
It's funny but no matter where in the world I am, it all looks the same......you have a boat, water and platforms. Only thing that changes is the visibility in the water.
The part that sucks is I never get to play tourist. I've been to Cairo once.......at night....for an hour....then I flew out. Didn't even see the pyramids.

Aren’t they all lit up at night? Couldn’t you see them from the plane? I’ve always wanted to go there. Not really good for Americans .

Thanks for reminding me.:flipoff2:

I did get to see Iran's "fuck you" platform to Saudi.
Iran put this platform right on the border between Iranian and Saudi waters. Apparently it caused a giant stink between the two countries and as a fuck you from Iran, they leave a flare stack blowing 24/7 so everyone can see it.

This is the platform. It was 3km away from where we were working.

Can see on the nav screen where they had to re-adjust where the border was between the two countries. Left side is Saudi, right side is Iran. Where it says Swordfish in yellow is the boat I'm working on.

I hear the Iranians are really understanding if you cross that line… :lmao:

You aren’t missing much. I’ve been to all those shitholes. There are some cool things to see in a country filled with assholes who don’t have the same sense of manners we do. You’re in their country, so it is what it is, but it’s definitely annoying dealing with pushing/shoving and dick-measuring contests everywhere you go. Per diem is usually good though :flipoff2:

Makes sense that they'd be all lit up. I never saw shit though. Isle seat on the plane limits window looking unless I want to crawl over the smelly brown people.

We were 600m from the border line. But we were also one boat out of many working in that area.

Mumbai was the worst for being mobbed by aggressive beggars. You just wanted to pick them up and throw them into traffic......even the kids.

All of India seems to be this way. I built and trained crews on tunnel boring machines after I got out of the Navy, and spent months working in India. Just sad how some of it is.

Huh. Guess I haven't been to every shithole. Mumbai/India is one I've (thankfully?) avoided.

I was fortunate enough visit Cairo and see the Pyramids, Sphinx, and other various sites throughout the area, Luxor etc. was a trip of a lifetime. Was back in 1989 or 1990, the following year is when terrorist shot up the buses full of tourists.

Putting this here for future ordering when I get home.

AEM Electronics Inline Wideband UEGO Controllers 30-0310

Comes with the Bosch 4.9LSU

This will allow me to monitor and log wide band on my dash.
So can you order from there and have stuff waiting when you get back? Do you have someone handle your mail? Seems like a let down to get home and then wait for shipping and possible low stock.

I'm a long way out from being able to use them. So ordering them when I get home isn't a big deal.

Plus my next door neighbor is bringing in my mail and feeding the cat crew, so I'm trying to refrain from having shit showing up every day.

Got a couple pictures from the neighbor a few days ago. Apparently there was some bad weather that rolled through a few days ago. Lots of rain and 80+mph winds.

One oak tree tossed a branch from the top.

Then the last oak tree in that line (can't see it in the above pic) cracked the trunk all the way to the ground.
Pretty impressive.

I seem to be on a roll with trees taking and giving hits.
That cracked tree could take out the neighbors house, so they asked if they could have it cut down. Said they'd split the cost, so I said kill it.

The cracked tree turned out to be completely hollow.
Can even see the crack in the cut

Went ahead and ordered two of the wide band setups.
Also ordered the XRP crimping dies for my crimper.

Decided I'm going to do all the plumbing and wiring before I clean up and paint the tub. I'm sure I'll be wanting to move or add studs for the hold downs.

I'd like for this piece of shit to look at least ok once before it gets beat on.

Last shift here.

Then a 6hr boat ride to the dock.

Then a 3.5hr bus ride to Dammam.

Then either a night in the hotel ( probably not) or a drive straight to the airport (usually how it plays out)

Followed by a 1.5hr flight to Qatar or Dubai. Depends on if it's Emirates or Qatar airlines.

Then a 16hr flight to Houston or DFW.

And then, a 1hr flight to Lafayette.

Gonna be a long day and I came on shift at midnight.

I hate trips like that. I’ve made a few. Don’t suppose you fly business class?

Company buys the cheapest seaman's tickets they can get.

I generally upgrade the ticket myself.
Actually, upgraded to business on my flight from Doha to Dallas for this trip home. 3k. It just keeps getting more expensive. I remember telling myself I wouldn't do it if it was over a grand.

Ooh I don't miss those days at all.
I moved into a PM role and only have to do GOM work occasionally now and as previously stated Egypt is a shithole..

Safe travel back to the states..

Are those wild camels? Have pic from your hotel?

I don't think they're wild cause they were fenced in. They seemed to be raising them in that area. All of them except for one that I saw were really small. Probably young.

Didn't bother taking a picture out the window of the hotel. It was just dirt.

It's all dirt there. LOL

Safe travels back. United Premium Plus has been worth the scratch for me lately. Luckily I fly enough to use points/Plus Points to upgrade without spending money on it.

Only flying every couple of months, I'm not really banking miles. I just pay. Paying just turned a 15hr45min flight into a 11 nap in my own pod and a movie. It's money will spent to me.

Sitting in DFW now.

Nice. The pods are great, especially if you’re on the bulkhead with some offset from the aisle.

Welcome back man. You won’t have to push/shove here as much at least. :flipoff2:
