What's new

Anyone use a Garden Tractor loader?

I call bullshit. I own 3 BX tractors. 2 are new. They won’t lift 900#.
I had a B3350. Much bigger tractor. It would barely lift 1000#.

I also have a Case 321F. It will lift 1000#. Bucket probably weighs 700#. Maybe 800.
Carried it, didn't lift it. It was weighed at the rock place since it was a rock my wife "had to have". Rolled out of my truck into the loader, lowered it to 2" off the ground and danced on the front tires about 200' to where she wanted the rock placed.

Yeah, thats a stretch. Ive moved a 600ish lb rock with a bx and if you let the loader hit the dirt your not getting it back up. Best you can do is drag the bucket in reverse

Went forward with it the whole way. Guess I got lucky with the way it worked out, never did try to lift it back up. I was pissed she wanted it where I couldn't get the truck back to.

You rolled a 900# rock by yourself into a BX loader bucket huh.

Ok.

So its like a shitty skidsteer with less power and copacity... but cheaper?

No different animal than a skid steer.
They pick up more weight than a skid lb per lb.
That little machine lifts 1500 and weights 2500 lbs.
It has high flow auxiliary hydraulics and flows more than my previous skid steer.
I bought that size to fit in tight places. If you unlock the diffs you can run on grass and not hurt a thing. The yanmar in mine was the biggest motor they were using without emissions at the time.
They are not cheap new but you can find some really good deals on occasion.
Just another great tractor / equipment option to keep in mind.

Don't forget the visibility.

I want one of those old Italian Pasquali articulating tractors

Sitting on a load of mulch so it was easy to pull/slide with a strap. I will invite you guys over next time I do something stupid that you won't believe. :flipoff2:
I should record more of the stupidity I use mine for. Its pulled bus’s, moved my Searay Sundancer on a triple axle around using the 3 point, moved a goose dump trailer and has had a toyota xcab cab balanced on the loader at full lift. Its a toy so ill give it a shot at anything :flipoff2:

It may be small but its a back saver.

How far is that from your place in Worcestershiresauce? You’d go pick it up and hold it for somebody I assume?
~3hr. There’s several Connecticut members who are substantially closer who would probably do it if you asked.

I could probably get it if it came down to it.

I am kind of kicking around this idea.

Might be a fun project, cheap enough so who cares. says 900 pound lifting capacity, still small enough to fit in my barn and shouldn't tear up the yard as bad as a skid steer.

Can't decide, but I am sure it will be gone this weekend.

I see it is marked sold. You own it now?

Paid 6k for this one Wednesday.

1700 with the 770 loader and modified for a quick change.

Very good condition except for the bucket which has seen better days.... : )
that is cheap compared to anything around me here. I searched pretty hard for the last couple of months

Poorly modified. I’d cut that off and redo it.
Ever inch you move that bucket forward, it changes geometry and bucket force.

Cut the old mount off the bucket and weld the plate directly to it.

I bought it, Pretty excited about it right now. I see the loader alone listed for sale for $4,500 so I don't think I can go wrong here.
Also I do not think I have to buy any Ford/New Holland specific parts. So that is a huge bonus, cost and availability wise.

It is a 1992, 3cyl jap diesel. trans is a 3x4 so 12 speed. All the shifters, actuators work freely. I am a little worried about the loader control, it looks like it took a lot of heat. I fully expect it to dump fluid when I try to use it the first time.

Now the cost is going to be really however much I feel like putting into it or how fancy I want to make it.

First pic, the dash is completely gone. You can't see the bottom, but that is the fuel tank you are looking at and it is 3/4 full. Down at the bottom of the dash area everything is blue and clean.

The steering works freely, no slop. All the shifters work correctly. Pedals, brakes seem to function.

I will probably build my own dash, just put standard temp, oil, voltmeter in it. Maybe I will add a tach later, but honestly who uses that?
Standard ignition switch, maybe add a glow plug timer. Eventually light switch or switches.

This has the hand throttle and a foot throttle, Foot throttle looks like it just needs a cable. Hand throttle I will probably just grab some cheap universal and mount on the dash. Not sure, gotta see it run first.

Engine did spin free.
The oil fill cap and filler neck are gone. I need to pull the valve cover and clean the plastic out.
The engine is full of oil and it looked fairly clean but I will drop it anyway, make sure there is no water lurking.
The hose between the air filter and intake melted and there is garbage in the intake. I will probably have to pull the intake to get it clean. Worst case I might have to pull the head.

Radiator has coolant in it, but what is up with that filler neck? Where did it go? It didn't look like anything was soldered in there like a normal filler neck/radiator cap. but that service manual calls for a normal 13psi cap. I will probably just solder a new filler neck in after I get it running as long as fluid doesn't start dumping out someplace else.

My B2301 is right about 1k at the pins, much less at the buckets edge. I added a 3 point receiver hitch to hang weights on because it is sketchy with the bucket fully loaded on any kind of side hill.

Where are you at, whats your budget, and how far are you willing to drive for a deal?
Iowa, my budget is I don't want to spend any money on something I will use once a year. LOL

I'm sure I will use it more than that, but honestly I may give it to my son to move snow after I am done with it so I will probably spend a little more time fixing it up than I normally would for myself.

In my mind I thought this thing would be a lot heavier. Little disappointed it isn't but then that is why we get a 4x4 right?

Winched up on the trailer easy.

First priority is get some tires on it so I can roll it around easier. Then get the loader off it so I can get to the engine. My garage is full and doesn't look like the weather will cooperate this week.

Nice thing about living in Iowa is everyone has some tractor tires laying around. I will get them mounted up today but it is raining so who knows when I will get them on and roll the thing off the trailer.
