What's new

Anyone use a Garden Tractor loader?

Ha, but it's a new holland lol.

I was only looking at dealers, never crossed my mind to check ebay. Thanks.

It's 2024, sweetie. It can identify as a Ford if it wants. :flipoff2:

But you should send the seller a message. They probably print those to order and may be able to make a New Holland set. I'd imagine everything else is the same other than the text on the hood.

I've bought from them. It was a nice complete set, everything fit perfectly.

I want a decal set for my miniX, but they want too much money. I don’t want all the safety shit, just Bobcat name and stripes.

What's too much? A complete decal set for $138 is pretty cheap...

Or $98 for just the outside ones

Or $70, shipped from the UK

Yeah looks like 4 bolts and I can jack the tractor up off the front axle enough to clear.

If it has the same suspension as 1220 it pivots on a center bolt. To have to support the front end and unbolt the front axle to drop it.

FYI - if you want that set, I just go a "special offer" from the seller that knocked 10% off the price. If you stick them on your watch list, I imagine you'll get the same in a day or so.

I was thinking of just using the loader to lift the front end once I get the bolts out. Then throw some jackstands under it.

Think it will work. But no hurry. Probably be a next winter project.

A good plan. You'd probably only need to undo the center support bracket and drop it a few inches. Leave all the stuff connected except maybe the drive shaft

Scag needs a part, so I had to mount the belly mower for the first time in 6 years. So since I had the owners manual out, this is how the 914 deck attached and all the brackets you should get with one. Looks like you could find the mid PTO and bolt it on, but finding one would probably be a huge pita.

I got the loader back on. Was kind of impressed with how fast the loader moves and it does seem to have some good power.

Didn't get to use it much it has been raining like crazy. Did use it to trim some trees though.

Oil pressure wasn't dropping below 5psi when hot, that was kind of nice.

Great toy so far. Still have a whole bunch of stuff I need to do. Like my air filters still haven't shown up. Neither has my power steering reservoir cap.

I have not done anything with the alternator. Once I rev the motor it starts charging. Even without energizing the alternator. So I am going to leave it for now. We had an old 656 international that acted very similar but it always charged and never had a dead battery.

Still waiting on hood decals.

This thing is slow. LOL But it seems to be setup really well for what it is.

I know the mid pto bolts on because this thing had a new center section installed about 10 years ago.
stripped the input shaft splines, which is a thing if you abuse the hydrostat.
red RTV is not factory....
You'd need the PTO box and the linkage. LInkage is super simple and looked like three rods. Bolts onto the trans higher up under the fender with a bracket. Just flips a lever on the mid pto box.

mine charges at idle, not well, but makes about 13 at idle and hits full voltage about a thousand RPM. I leave it at PTO speed when using the winch.

Does the engine sound fine? Knocking ticking anything?

I’ve never checked my voltage at max rpm. It only charges 12.1V at idle and 12.7V at 1100 rpm which is the most peaceful mowing rpm

The engine is like a sewing machine. Very smooth. Not worried about low oil pressure being an issue. I have a knock when I let the clutch out that I suspect is the throwout bearing. But I haven't even greased it yet to see if it changes. Otherwise no funny noises at all so far.

Forgotten how much I love the smell of the old mechanical injection diesels.

My gauges are cheap chinese set that have been laying around for 20 years. My DVOM reads 12 volts, the voltmeter in the dash reads 14. LOL
run the engine wide open and the DVOM reads 14v. The gauge in the dash reads 16v.
So not accurate but shows it is charging.
When I full field the alternator the gauge in the dash jumps to 16 and doesn't move. When I don't energize the alternator and rev the engine it jumps to 16 but bounces. Making me think it is regulating. at least that is my experience. Make sense?
Just need to run it more and see if it ever levels out and comes down.

My oil pressure is probably just as accurate. Where as I am not sure I had ever seen over 20psi on the gauge before I was seeing it regularly this weekend and it never dropped below 5 even when at hot idle.
So I question that accuracy as well, but oil spec was like 27-36 psi at upper rpm
Never thought air in the line was an issue, but maybe it is.

When I first ran it after getting the water temp gauge in it was cycling from 150-180 degrees, like you could watch the thermostat open and close. This weekend it came up to 180 and stayed right there the entire time.

thought this thing only sat a year, starting to wonder if it sat for years.

I need to get a space and park it inside. It has been raining like crazy. My oil pressure gauge has humidity inside the lens so apparently it is not water tight, that will kill it in a hurry.

Got to use it to move an engine last night. 6.8 V10. But not fully dressed.

It picked it up like nothing. No ballast on the rear. No weight in the tires. Plenty of power at the cutting edge to roll the bucket up and down.

Didn't expect it to handle it that well. Controls worked great. I think I could pull an engine out with this, seems sensitive enough.

The right front tire did not like it. When I picked the engine up to max height to see how it would do the tractor started leaning. LOL Not sure if the ground was soft or if that foam filled tire was giving up.
So I will move front tires up on my list I suppose.

Used the 3 pt to move a couple trailers. That sure is nice and a lazy way to do it. I usually use lawnmower but you can't see around the sides of the trailer, with this you can lean over far enough and it turns on a dime.

Cool thread, i will be reading thru it soon. thx for sharing

I'm sure you know this...Remember the front dont do much of shit for stabilizing FEL work its same thing as a tricycle, its all the rear till the front axle bottoms and its too late..

I learned that loading trucks with a backhoe bout shit my pants got lucky
