Or, most likely, there are so many other interesting places to go they've not returned.I like to think that it’s not that we can’t build giant megalithic structures, it’s just that we don’t want to any more. It’s not that long ago that people were building huge structures that took decades to complete. There’s castles and cathedral all over Europe that took generations to complete. Today we want quick fast structures so that we don’t outlive the construction of our own houses.
I also like to think that if we were populated by aliens, perhaps one reason they haven’t come back is because they either annihilated themselves the same way we nearly have, or they were destroyed by another invading alien species and we’re too primitive to be worth the time, or maybe even they were destroyed by a supernova, gamma ray burst, or maybe something as simple as an asteroid impact, so there’s no one left to come check up on us.
How many of you who take a vacation at, say Rome or Egypt or Paris, ever go back?
