2bbs 2021 bronco build

2 big bronco actually inspired me to get my own bronco….it took me all of four hours to try it out.

I have my first wheeling trip in 2 weeks, and I need to get a set of skids and rock sliders for it. Scanned it the other night and am working on skids now. I may start my own build thread in GCC fo2

Is it wrong for someone to lust after your shop space?

Added a solid axle and full hydro steering is easy, I am waiting for someone to add the solid axle with a steering box and not lighting up the dash with all the warnings.
I hear ya. Was just posting an example of a "working" rig.
Plus I've been drinking and swimming in Mexico for a week so I probably misread ya 🍻

If it makes you feel better its also the Talk of the HOA :P

That is only part of it :P.
Its a 40x60 split in two sections. I both love and hate the wall in the middle. Once I get AC in it I will likely love the wall as it will be way cheaper to AC half of it.2

2" closed cell spray foam, going to do the other side with closed cell spray foam, and I also want to put a loft in to the left of the car lift. Just got a toilet and sink installed. My wife says she will never see me again!

Got a new bumper and tow package installed today. (Still no lights or brakes) and went for a quick tow test with an empty trailer and sketchy hitch setup I put togeather with barn stuff.

Anyhow it towed totally fine up to and at 65 so tommorow im going to throw 3000ish lbs on the trailer and go for another drive.

Oh, and I also ordered a hitch that will work more better.

I hope your new hitch moves the ball closer to the truck. I know you might have to remove the spare, but it makes a giant difference if you have any sway.

ive probably told this story before. My friend and I were towing trailers in Canada. He had a stock F150 long bed and I was in my Bronco on 38’s. Since he had the long wheel base, he got the heavy trailer. Well, he was having a hell of a time with sway. Finally, we switched trailers at a gas station. We couldn’t believe, I had no problems. The only thing we could figure was the short ball to axle length. (Closer to a fifth wheel)

Everybody thinks long wheel base is most important. It is better, but the short “ball to axle“ is the most important.

On the new Broncos, I don’t understand how some of them look badass and some of them look like anemic kids toys. I know lift and tires make a big difference, but I sware the sheet metal is different. I need to get a pic.

Agreed.

Ever seen a single cab, short bed dually ? They tow great.

Kinda the same concept as a semi truck, really.

There are 2 completely different Broncos being produced right now. The regular Bronco, and the carSUV Bronco.

Ahhhh, that’s what it is. I knew there was something up.

Unrelated thread jack, has anyone seen a weird small Mustang? I just seen one that didn’t say mustang on it, but it had the horse on the back and the taillights were kind of the same. Maybe it is a new Pinto.

The electric version maybe?

Nice trailer jack you've got there.
Ive got a new foot to put on it and it actually works fine for what it is. No real reason to change it.

As far as a new hitch...

The fancy combination I have there is 18" from pin in reciever to ball and 6" of drop. I found a 1 piece reese hitch that is 14" from pin to ball and 4" drop. Im going to start with that and see how it goes.

Plan f is ditch the spare and relocate the jack... or just the jack and closely look at the likelyhood of the trailer hitting the tire.

A Mach E, saw one last week. Next time you see one you'll notice there are no exhaust pipes visible, and no bumper cutouts for an exhaust either..

Please ignore the words in the top two boxes and read these lines instead…
Thats a poor mans step. That’s a good joke, you don’t really keep that there?

the further the ball from the rear axle, the more trailer loading matters. at least in my experience.

if your towing the same trailer loaded the same way allot, the extension wont matter much. so long the trialer weight is distributed right. oddly loaded trailer and such, suck.

my only experience comes from a longer hitch for a truck camper and mostly from the towing with and extended e350. the ball on the e350 is 16" further from the axle than an f350.

prbly nbd, especially since i'd imagine a bronco would have a shorter than normal ball to rear axle than typical. so pushing it back... meh

Ok, just got my mid length 6" drop hitch and it seems like the perfect happy medium.

I then went for about a 25 mile drive towing 5000lbs with no trailer brakes to see what its actually capable off.

Id say I was at the upper limits of "Safe" (safe being what Id throw my wife and kids in) as is. It handled, stopped, and accelerated acceptably but really wasnt great. Ill bet with proper tounge weight and a load distribution hitch it would be great.

The whole dumb tow test was to get an idea of travel trailer size I should be looking at. The 17'ish bunk house trailers ive been eyeing are 3-3500lbs but the 21' ones at 4500 lbs are a lot nicer..... After my little test, and with as much wind as the travel trailers push im going to stick at the lighter end of what I want.

Find a solution that gets the hitch ball as close as possible to the bumper and you'll be able to tow the bigger trailer no problem.

Your probably right but at some point I feel like stupid unessiasary wear should be taken into consideration. It is still a 4cyl with stock gears, 37s, and a dana 44. Oh and a 3500lb tow rating on 32s
