Using your driveshaft as a skid plate voids your gear install warranty :flipoff2:

Glad you were able to just swap diffs and tighten up preload, question is how many years are you gonna leave it up front now?

No warranty expressed or implied on the new setup with mustard utilized to check the patten either.

Yea I really need to build a traction bar to protect that!

I was thinking about that on the way home, it will be up there for at least one more run and probably a whole other session after that  It survived a pretty good beat down this weekend.

I probably will at least swap the pinion bearings, I don't need to fuck up a gear set and a carrier for almost no reason.

So we ended up taking the shims out and just ran the solid spacer and put the rear diff in the front and sent it. So the last few trips I have been off, picking dumb lines, pussying out on not very hard shit and all around wheeling like a newb, to the point that Briansc33 , who I have never met in person, was heckling me, so going into this trip I wanted to get my groove back. :flipoff2: The above vid was halfway through day one, that's a lot steeper than it looks and I apparently jumped that last ledge. Day 2 I drove out of a flop with a wheel 4-6ft in the air, and the rest of the time it #bonuslinesonly. Felt good, got my groove back and didnt have to winch at all, and really didn't get stuck at all, which was nice, and only breakage was on the drive to the park:laughing: I was really expecting the trip to be a total shit show after the drive down, but all in all it was great, for me at least:laughing:. I'm also tossing my ram mount wed on tabs and bolts in the tool bag in case that ram bolt ever pulls out of the clamp on the trail.

I thought I was going to have more pics, maybe later, vid will do for now:laughing:

Slander sounds like quite the relaxing trip to Hawk Pride!
Lots of carnage for our group actually and most of it getting to the park:laughing:. We had a 4runner lose a fuel pump on the entrance road, then an XJ blow a rear u joint at the entrance of merlin, then a front ujoint on the exit of merlin:laughing:

What are y'all doing for tool and spare parts storage? Right now I have a sportsman trunk from academy sports, but it kept flipping in the bed and broke this last trip. I had an action packer that worked ok, and before that an in bed took box. I liked the in bed toolbox the best, but I always seemed to be hitting it off rocks and ended up breaking a wing off of it in SD and it caved in on itself. I use tool bags, anyone just strap them down in the bed and party on?

When I lived on Oahu I had my tool bag attached to one of the front tie downs with a carabiner. The other tie down had multiple big bottles of water in a big tool bag for emergency use.

What about an in-bed tool chest? Would allow lots of secure, closed storage but being in bed, wouldn't get hit with trees/rocks etc. Could also set tool bags etc inside or on top of the tool chest.

I need something kind of modular as I still use this a truck when it's not wheeling.

How big of parts are we talking? I’ve been buying the dewalt t stak cases off Amazon for things in the shop and my new enclosed trailer. Water proof and a top tray for smaller stuff. They clip together too

I need to inventory, the big parts (like the driveshafts and spare knuckle) are in the bed around and under the spare. I have a bunch of hydro hoses and junk like that lining the bottom of the tool box, I could probably coil those up and store on the extra cab floor and forget about them until needed.

A packrat bolted down in the bed would work pretty slick IMO. Can find them used every so often.

We have also built some slide out drawers that were kinda similar.

Nice being able to pile shit on top and still access everything without unloading the truck

Understandable there. Bed space is at a premium for sure.

The tool chest in the wife's 3rd Gen Tacoma could come out in about a couple of minutes and used two wing nuts for securement, so I considered that quick enough to add/remove for our needs.

I've been wanting to try these.

May not be big enough for what you're asking, but ammo cans for me. the outside 2 are 20mm and the inner 2 are 50cal. The mounts are a little footman loop bolted to the backside of the can, and a C bracket welded to the bed floor. rear are held on with amazon toggle clamps.

I use a regular bed box for the long stuff like spare main leaf, f&r axle shafts, spare square front shaft etc. Then I use the Bauer modular boxes for tools, hoses, TREs, alternator, and such. I hate shit rolling around the bed.
