Lol.. the spot is just a hair bigger. Roll it out. Nice thing a out the pro comps, lightest 40's out there.. wheel and tire weigh less than 100lbs.How the shit do you get the spare out?
Sounds like someone's jealous because I don't have to tie my shoesBeen here 20 seconds brotato chip. Undo ratchet > pull straight up. Does your mom still tie your shoes in the AM?
I guess that's not as bad as I was thinking, but it seems like it's an awkward back tweaking operation. Maybe it's just the pics.Lol.. the spot is just a hair bigger. Roll it out. Nice thing a out the pro comps, lightest 40's out there.. wheel and tire weigh less than 100lbs.
Biggest thing, make some inner fenders on the front, and patch up holes on bed fenderwells. Keep some of the mud out.Looks good with some dirt on there! Anything to change after the trip?
It's not bad. There is a nice spot to stand on the other side, and because the tires stick out, it's easy to climb up.Sounds like someone's jealous because I don't have to tie my shoes

Well that’s surprising to read. So, I've decided to put the truck up for sale. Fits a family of 5 great with tons of room for kids crap. Got all the bugs worked out. Just don't use the truck anywhere to its potential. Where we live now, decided we are moving to the UTV market. Asking $30,000 or possible trade for 4 seat UTV.
its the trend . more and more states let you drive on the street with them.Well that’s surprising to read.
Yep, here in Idaho it's legal, and the trail system is built towards smaller vehicles or open fast. I think we will use a utv more than th truck.its the trend . more and more states let you drive on the street with them.
i bet you will. plus easier to get to and from.Yep, here in Idaho it's legal, and the trail system is built towards smaller vehicles or open fast. I think we will use a utv more than th truck.

Truck was great where we were living. Just not feeling it here. Selling this and my project Polaris I've been building. See what happens. I'll check out the forum. ThanksBeen there/done that. I'll get a few years on our Dak before deciding to do anything different, but hoping to have it around for many many years. You might want to consider posting it for sale on Dakota-Durango forum -

Same here in Tennessee both trend wise and street legal wise.its the trend . more and more states let you drive on the street with them.
That looks mighty fun and glad to read you’ve decided to keep it.Today was a good day. Took the Dakota up into the mountains for a snow run. We ran Grimes creek outside of Boise. About a 40" base with 20" of wet snow on top. Main trail was good, but we found out quick don't leave the trail.. it got deep real quick. Truck did pretty good.. needs more power though. Yes, I have decided to keep it. I like this thing way too much.
Its working pretty good. Mostly need more power. I'm at 140" wheelbase.Looks like it is working great, really like the quad cabs.
What is your wheelbase?
Nothing yet. Getting ready to change the rear Shackles setup as it's been causing my some issues. Need to lower it also in the rear. Going to try a set of Luquid iron industries spring sliders.Domer any updates on the Dakota?

I originally designed this project with a 2 piece shaft in mind. But had alot of issues trying to get one built. Ended up having a local shop build the 1 piece. I knew this would eventually happen. Made it about 3 years before I wiped it out. Told myself when I did, I'd re design everything for a 2 piece. So that's what's going to happen. This is what I'm basing my design off of.I went around around and around on the long one piece shaft. I'll link a thread on the old site from my olden days. I eventually fixed it with a long transfer case situation, running a divorced 203-205 behind a 4x2 trans. I think I ended up with a 2 piece front shaft and a single rear? Memory is getting hazy now, but my point is that if you caught that rear shaft now, it'll keep happening.
5 foot driveshafts suck - two piece suggestions?

Thanks. I'll look into it.. I think I know what your talking about.i know there are a bunch of different companies and variations on carrier bearing set ups, but i absolutely love the one from busted knuckle. and theirs maybe a bit of overkill,
I have a track bar there with 2"x.25. Once I'm able to rotate the diff up with the new driveshaft design I can do that. Right now the shaft hangs down past it.a factory one might be all that is needed for you. again there is a bunch of way to do it.
and since your running leaf springs in the rear, build your self a massive track bar skid just to take the drive shaft hit. i have a buddy who built one that was massive, but he never bent or hit a rear drive shaft. if i recall it went on both sides of the drive shaft and then crossed over to one at the mounting point on the frame. i may have a photo. and his rig was a 7k beast of a machine like yours.
